Hi Joey. I knew it. I knew the soup kitchen video was going to be good -and it was. You're a real story teller and you tell your stories with such humour. Loved the tuna fish story and the spicy chicken sandwich story. You certainly have been through some really challenging situations but your faith in God is awe inspiring as you speak of your faith so naturally born out of personal experience. Sending love and best wishes your way 😃

Thanks Joey…your NY and LV experiences are so interesting to someone who’s fortunate never to have been homeless, but at the same time it seems to have taught you much more about life than most of us.

interesting what you say about positive energy re food, I always find food that is prepared with a bit of love will taste better somehow, and this is an indication that the power of intent is a resource that runs deep in human interactions. Here in UK its ditto for the soup kitchens, we had one place that would add tinned fish to the soup mix, the aroma alone was stomach turning. Always good to hear of your Evil Twin, stay strong.

Joey as a Filipino, Tilapia can be one of the most savory dishes if cooked right. Quality of the catch + traditional methods of cooking go along way. If you get a old Filipino grandma to make you a dish you best believe you'd be sleeping good that night. But to each is own. Getting tilapia from a soup kitchen would be like getting 8 dollar sushi from a gas station. So I can see your point in being hesitant. But If you manage to get a grandmaster sushi chef crafting meals it be the same as a Filipino mom making tilapia.

25:55 yeah dude DUH!! Wendy’s is pretty good on a normal day. And when you’re hungry that 1,200 calorie burger gonna hit the spot for sure 😂
And why the hate on Subway? Here in Canada it’s actually quite good. Fresh ingredients, soft breads, honestly I consider it a healthy fast food option. I know the bread may not be great for some people’s diet and they could add more meat (gotta put pay extra) but I can’t complain. Gotta thank our blessings we don’t live in countries 😅

Talapia is pretty good if you make it right, sounds like the way you describe it it was on the verge of going bad shouldn't be no spots on it. You take it put it in a bake pan ceramic not metal cut a lemon squeeze the lemon into the pan place some butter in the pan sprinkle pepper and parsley on the Talapia and bake for about 25 min at 350 degrees.

I went to a big homeless area for lunch handout and a gal sat across me tried to start a fight saying my tray too close to hers. Some the people standing in line for food scared me. the food line churches were more better. They use to have this dinner at the episcopal church with a AA meeting before was pretty cool

Not anymore, my local soup kitchen gives less nutritious meals than your average fare in jail.
Been hitting it up since I was dumped there in January at age 16 (mad illegal btw mom & dad!)
I tried getting a tray but the 2.5 mile walk (there and back total) isn't worth the tray.
So many migrants are in line before anyone else, they take all the food before starving welfare recipients, people with one leg or in a wheelchair don't even bother anymore to go there.
I wonder what they do now?
Whats crazy is I'm almost 30 now and when I was 16-23 they would sit us all down and feed us a hot breakfast with eggs , toast, milk, maybe OJ, I was SOOOOOO grateful as a cold homeless unaccompanied minor in CT in the winter..so grateful
And thats all over now, been gone!!!
The only people who show up there minus 20 desperate people on their last breath, are all some type of latino, don't speak english, and definitely don't have to be taking that tray (grasso) over my skinny decrepit SSN brothers and sisters.
      Peace!

Joey, there is so much food that gets thrown away in this country. No one should ever eat crap food or go hungry. I've got a pickup truck, and I volunteer to pick up food for a church. About once a month, they call me. They get free food 3 times a week from these big grocery stores. Bread, milk, cheese, every kind of meat, fish, crackers, candy, you name it. My truck can't haul it all. This is stuff that's reached the "sell by" date, but is still good to eat for a couple weeks. Its unreal how much they throw out. Makes me sick to hear your story about going hungry.
