Was NASCAR 08 (PS3/360) Really THAT Bad?

If you've been around here long enough, you know how much I love NASCAR 08 for PS2. But I never got my hands on a PS3 copy of the game... until now.
Well actually this was recorded in January. So not quite now. But you get to see it now.

The early 360/PS3 era is full of these kinds of cross gen variants. But also: the early-mid 2000s had console/PC versions that were different (Nascar Thunder 2003 and 2004 are completely different) and SNES/Genesis era is especially like this. Shadowrun, Aladdin, etc.

The PS2 version was better. They just reskinned NASCAR 07, which itself was a reskin of NASCAR 06, so it was already a very stable game. Having the Whelen Modified was also a plus.

This game may not be the best BUT a lot of the spins were your mistakes. Riding the apron, over correcting, bad use of driver assists, not understanding weight transfer, not adjusting your setup. 08 & 09 are more detailed than people give it credit for. The physics and setups are very detailed BUT the standard default setups are crap

This game is so bad mechanically like your car spins over nothing and there’s times I’ll just spin out and bring out a caution while being multiple seconds ahead of 2nd and still end up halfway through the pack on restart and in short tracks once I start lapping cars if a caution is called suddenly in restart cars I had already lapped that were around me are suddenly in front of me on the current lap makes no sense

Why are the graphics so dark and moody?
26:57 Why the hell is Bristol so dark? Also the driving models for all of the NPC cars just looks boring. There’s no three wide that naturally occurs. If the player creates a three wide and is in the middle, the NPC cars just completely disregard him and stick to the left lane or the right lane Will basically drive through the player in order to stick to those driving lines. This game also seems to do one of the things that I absolutely hate in racing games, which is where, for some reason the player can never accelerate off the start as fast as the NPC cars. I have heard several people say that the PS2 version of NASCAR 08 is still terrible but better than the PS3 and Xbox360 version.
