I've played this game since I was a child, I still have my 1999 disc on my shelf in its original jewel case, and somehow I'm learning about mechanics I never even thought of before. I didn't even know this game had a weight system for the various chassis. Interesting. I must have had the 2001 version as a kid because I specifically remember collecting 2 powerups next to each other when positioned in a line. Tried to download this and its sequel in 2013 but it was impossible.
I remember playing this game a lot on the Nintendo 64 when I was in elementary school. To be poetic, I even decided to walk through the single player mode on the morning before my last day at high school. I finished the single player tournament within about 30 minutes. I didn't realize that I just speedran it. I also remember an odd bug in Knightmare-Athon where if you start a warp in the final section with the floating ship, the warp ends where you just started. I remember watching this bug in action while messing around in 2 player mode. I assume it's the ship causing it, but that's just me being a bit salty.
@@Homerboy44 oh interesting! I don't know about that warp one. I'll try it out. I'm hoping that with the warp going past the start line maybe a lap skip glitch can activate or something. @@vigigamehacker123 There are a couple of reasons. The example from the video is Knoghtmare-athon where you want to deliberately contaminate a red brick with a blue one. This is because NPCs will pick this up and immediately use the shield no matter who is around them where as they will not use the red brick unless someone drives in front of them. This means they would then drive into the green brick at.the start line with no power up in their inventory and not contaminate it like they would if they had the red brick. The second for example (Adventure Temple Trail) when you warp directly into a white brick to pick it up as you enter the warp animation. If you then drive into a blue or red brick as you exit warp then it means that you will be wasting the white brick that you deliberately picked up while entering warp. We do our best to avoid picking up these blue and red bricks as we leave warp but it can be extremely difficult at high speeds and requires a consistent setup to avoid doing so. Thanks for watching the video!
N64 version is actually very similar to 2001 PC version. So while there are obviously still differences to 99 version, N64 version should (technically) be viable for speedrunning. Through my own TASing of the N64 version, I've noticed more input lag compared to PC version. Also, you should be able to super slide by pressing A+B+R simultaneously and turning.
I´m currently having a weird issue, I can´t superslide to the left. When I hold down the up and down key the left key doesn´t do anything while the right key works fine. Is this just something with my keyboard? Do you have any thoughts on it?

Theory: the warp that makes Emmet come to the real world in the LEGO Movie is based on the warp from LEGO Racers.
The “warp” from the Lego Movie is inspired by (or a loose reference to) “The Magic Portal,” a Lego stop-motion short film from 1989.
