He was a war veteran. I don't know what he'd seen in combat, but he knew from experience an attack was likely. Just hearing those NY accents makes me homesick. Moved to the Midwest in '98, and was burning up the phone lines for weeks afterwards.
Amidst the tragedy and pain, there was this really moving scene. Several days after the attacks; the responders and construction workers who were removing and clearing the rubble; they were doing it with such a regard and consideration for the potential undiscovered victims. Even the people who were operating the big and heavy excavator were using such caution and sensitivity. I got some filmmaking/acting experience and I swear, they deserve a tribute, especially since many of them suffered and died of cancer and other related illnesses.
Deep gratitude to Rick for serving in Vietnam and on 9/11. Now you can rest in eternal peace. God bless you and your wife, Susan always. And to all victims, first responders and those who witnessed these atrocities committed that day around our country we will never forget. Prayers to loved ones also.♥️🇺🇲🙏⚘
This man was from Cornwall in the UK where I am from and my school asked students for people to honour as the names of our school houses, and after some research people found out about this man, and so one of the 4 houses at my college was named Rescorla
I love hearing this. Rick Rescorla was an absolute legend in Vietnam. One of US greatest Warriors ever even if he wasn’t born in the USA. Please watch on UA-cam US 7th Cavalry honor Rick with a life size statue of him that stands to this day at one US’s Army training grounds.
That man was a hero before 9/11, he was a hero of the Battle of IA Drang during the Vietnam War. Because of Col. Rescorla several Vietnam Vets made it home, and many, many more people survived the terrorist attacks on 9/11.
Rick Rescorla, I Salute You, Sir. As one of the unsung heroes of 9-11 your name will never be forgotten. America owes you a debt of gratitude.Thank You Sir 🫡 RIP, RICK RESCORLA 🇺🇸
His wife was surely devasted at the news of his passing. But I'm sure she was very proud of his heroic actions, which would have given her some consolation. Rest in peace Col. Rick Rescorla.
A man among men. A leader. A true Hero. I thank him for his selfless actions all those years ago. Much love to Susan and her family. ♥️🙏 Thank you for airing this story 😢
What a hero. Truly for standing by his instincts and sticking with his drills and then selflessly going back in to make sure 100% of MS employees were out of the building. I am so sorry for his wife, but I hope hearing how much he helped others helps just a little. 😢❤ We need more selfless, people of real conviction.
What a brilliant example of an Amazing American! God bless his widow all these years later for keeping the message alive. It absolutely could happen again.
The people who got out are unbelievably lucky. The people who knowingly ascended the towers to help others are immortalized as heroes for all eternity.
I read We Were Soldiers Once and Young in the 90s when I was a teenager. It was a bestselling book at the time and one of the best war books I ever read. Of course, I had no idea that the man on the cover would go on to be a 9/11 hero. The book cover was one of the best war photos I ever saw and it looked like it was straight out of WW2. Here's a man that was present for two historical events that were turned into movies. He without question, died a soldier on 9/11 and we will never forget him.
Rick here is a Hero through and through here comes to show that not all heroes have a flashy costume, use complex machinery, or have an over the top Superpower or Quirk. Rick will always be with us
A true American. Why? He showed the American hard work ethic, commitment and did his job. He was so committed, that in spite of the threat, he still did his job. That’s what America is all about. His true virtue lives on through his lovely wife who knows when trouble calls, we answer the call.
He wasn't even an American, he was British, i don't know what it is with the US over there and not giving acknowledgement about the real facts in stuff like this.
I believe he served in the parachute regiment in the UK, served in Rhodesia in their police force, and in the US Air Cavalry in Vietnam, he was quite a man, tough as nails as we say. I salute you Rick, rest in eternal peace.
Wikipedia has a fairly good account of Rick Rescorla's background and his self-less service and commitment to a certain remarkably profound sense of duty
RIP Sir. He is definitely a hero. I offer my sincere condolences to his widow. May God comfort her 💔. I know this happened 22 years ago. This is the first time I heard this story. So many heros that horrible day. 😭💜
It still baffles me that they wanted employees to go back to work when the tower next to them was up in flames. God bless this man for getting people out 💙
Lord, it was ur miracle 🙏 u used us to create them, n u got him in a safe place resting till, first ressurection sleep on my friend u shall rise again thanks for ur braveness n service I pray comfort for ur loveones..❤🎉
Love this story. What a dark day but as time goes on we keep hearing of the many bright moments such as this. America needs these stories to continue to be told. Never Forget 9/11
I often wonder what it feels like to have been the imbecilic supervisor who said don't worry about it Rick, just keep your mouth shut, on both the first and second attack that he warned about. How can they live with themselves, knowing that they were told about what was going to happen, and said "I know better, I'm more intelligent than the rest of you. Rick was hundreds of times more of a man than those idiots. RIP Rick
When someone in your orbit says there is something major about to happen and they don't let go of it to the point their actions change, do not just say, its fake. This is how God intervenes. He picks a leader and you'd better follow. In Jesus name.
Morgan Stanley had a long lease on their office space in the Towers. In fact, they were one of the biggest tenants. Not so easy to find office space in NYC for that many employees.
@@MonkeyBidness359 so they knew the building was gonna be knocked down but kept all their employees there just to save money on rent??? The CEO was probably making more money a year than the office cost.
What a true hero. We really need all these stories told.
Yes I agree with you 100%
His tuition and his instincts along with his genuine heart and pride is what saved so many people. Undeniably a true hero. 💜
He was a war veteran. I don't know what he'd seen in combat, but he knew from experience an attack was likely.

I never get bored of this man, along with welles Crowther, orio palmer, Frank de martini , Pablo ortiz and MANY MORE.
Forever remember

Honestly an amazing human being
He was a Brit 🇬🇧🇬🇧
He was British, and this Brit is proud of him.
He was last seen alive running up the stairs to find more people to save. Ultimate respect.

@ Kuddos to the British resilience too. But after you live in America for 38 years you’re an American in my book.
Rick Rescorla served under Lt Gen Moore in battle of Ia drang Valley. Man survives vietnam war only to die in 9/11. Life can be a crazy thing.

This Hero was in the same cavalry regiment and unit that my dad was in when he was in the army ! I salute you Sir , and I thank you for your service ❤
They don't make men like that in this woke US. God bless him.
Men and women like that are the woke ones. He obviously cared about people, that compassion is what being woke is about.
He cares about people and others.
He was woke.
He was “woke.” Only stupid, ignorant people ever use that word.
As an Indian, I can confirm, you should learn a lot sbout wokes bro
@ameennasar2583 your kind caused the towers to come down. No need to lecture ...

Why was the official order to stay in the building?
Because during the ‘93 bombing, people were trampling each other trying to get out in a panic.
It won't happen again.
It's happening all around you daily for the past 4 years... way to see the obvious...
DAMN RIGHT🇺🇸👍
Why should the people stay in place while a plane crashes the first tower?
W HERO!
🇬🇧
I mean he he was so sure it was gonna happen why not move his employees into a different building before it happened.
