Serena got back to a final straight away, Kim won a grand slam right after it, Svitolina won titles right after it. Caroline did not go past any QF in a year.
Wozniacki's defensive playing style isn't working as well in this generation's tennis. I think she should try to mix things up more with slices/dropshots/angles. People saying she needs to just hit harder - that's not the solution. She's never gonna outhit some of the power hitters

It manifests that Mertens will really be consistent on the grass season with her quality, perseverance, desire, tenacity and ambition. She looks vibrant and fervent. As to Wozniacki, she has nothing to prove after this era. The presence is sufficient.

If Jana Fett had challenged her match point serve at the Australian Open 2018 second round (as her coach was screaming for her to do) - the serve was in on the replay - Wozniacki would never have won her only slam. She would have continued her career average at the slams of being eliminated before the second week. I guess she’s hoping for the U.S. open to give her a retirement ceremony.

Now we know why she didn't want Simona to be given the wildcard. Not because she wanted players who have failed drug test "to work for it", but because she wanted the WC for herself. She also wants mothers who play tennis to be given special treatment. So everything has to be about her. As Monica Niculescu famously said in 2018, she is giving herself way too much importance.
Unfortunately for Caro, she’s always been pretty useless on clay and grass. Maybe she will win a match or two in the is hardcourt summer swing, and then she will be able to officially retire.

Towards the end of wozniackis 1st career, she adjusted to add some aggressive-ness to her game. Now she's back to her plain defensive style again. With how womens tennis has evolved further, goodluck woth that 😅

The game evolved a lot since she was on the top and she's also a bit slower, which doesn't help as well.
