There's a *lot* you can do to mute road noise when the road is reasonably far from the house. A row of evergreen trees followed by a thick hedge and a solid wall and the quiet can be amazing.
I was thinking the same thing... but then, you'd have to be in love with the property. I liked the one they got much better.
But I also wondered how quiet that one (by the main thoroughfare) was during covid!! (??)
Yep exactly
Can’t do anything about the pollution from it though.
@@melon0007 Exactly!
Love this show. TFS ❤😊
People are crazy ... "the fact that you could make it your own' ... if you pay for it darlin' it is your own ... 'put my stamp / mark on it' ... just move in , hang up your pictures & unpack your books ...
I don’t understand that remark made by so many. “Put my own stamp” once you move in do whatever you like as you said. Maybe that’s a nice way of saying no to the property? 🙄
It's just a way saying that it's a blank canvas that no one else has put their own taste or stamp into it :)
If you've been watching this show for a long time, you'll understand this comment. - "This week we're in Oxfordshire with Edna and George". My favorite couple ever!
🙏 Aloha from Hilo Hawai'i. Mahalo for a this upload. Great show and great channel.
Thank you so much for these!!! They seriously improve the quality of my life. Bless you.
I never understood people buying a house based on how close it is to work. What if you change work? What if work premises relocate? You can never guarantee things will remain as they are in the present.
So true.
Agreed, but also, he wanted to be "in town" and for a 34-yo single person, that's the right decision
Being head of collection at a museum is a dream job for life, I'd say. G Ire
I'd love to know how Tim's doing 8 years down the line.. Such a lovely young man.. Hope it all worked out for him! 👍
They have a revisited on 4od
@@ARlELATOM Thanks so much for the info, Ariel.. 👍🙋🏻♀️

@@ARlELATOM Yay! Really appreciate it!
@@ARlELATOM I really enjoyed watching the update.. so glad he found a place! Thanks again, Ariel.. 👍🙋🏻♀️
Nice summary Dan. Keep up the great work. I can’t wait to see the roof then the work on the inside
Is the abington house was fabulous
リアリィグッド サンキュー(v^-゚)
Hahahaha Kirsty, did you call Phill a puppet in the beginning 🤣 You 2 are HILARIOUS and I ADORE both of you ❤
She called him a ‘poppet’,not ‘puppet’, which is a common British expression which she has used before 🇬🇧
Poppet. Expression of affection.
A poppet is an old word for a doll. It's a term of affection
No, she called Phil a poppet
Love watching this from San Francisco..if i ever move to Lomdon, I will ring up Kristy and Phil to help me find a home..love these two..😊
That dog is hysterical!
2024 Location ×2 congratulations Phil the sale of the house marketing wife photographer husband with baby and an annex for mum. Time and effort all round the buyer has that last decision. Thanks for the look in.❤...😊
"The house of our (meaning MY) dreams".
Brought my first house in oxford 3 bed semi 4 thousand pounds
Love the bouncy boxer : )
Estate agent speak, an annex for mom, video pans to a shed in the garden :)
Service charges .?
"Clarifying one's search" is a distant second behind buying a property. But I did enjoy viewing all the options in both searches. Just can't understand what "Yeah; No" and "No; Yeah" mean.
Don’t forget that Phil and Kirstie care only with them for a few days. The goal isn’t necessarily for them to buy a house. It’s to help them find it on their own.
"Yeah, nah," means no. "Nah, yeah," conversely, should mean yes 😂😂😂
That guy was too funny! No one wants a haunted house!
Higgly piggly..love Phil 😂
Tim's a cyclist but 8 miles is a little forbidding in the winter or rain, right? So, why not use public transport from the village? Or, get a little used car? Are cars just prohibitive in the UK?
Cars are not allowed in the UK. You have to be able to walk no more than twenty seconds from the trendiest expensive area and pay no more than 10 pounds for a 15 bed 25 bath Victorian mansion with large rooms and closets and tons of charm and character. It’s the law!
Cars are allowed of course, Oxford is more cyclist friendly though.
Then there's the problem of parking once he gets into Oxford....
Wow, got 100.000 from mom and dad!
Most people are getting debts from there parents…
Children do not inherit their parent's debt. It is unlawful.
How does that work?
Abingdon - Is there no bus service to Oxford? Or closer that takes his bike?
And why a view from the bedrooms? Thu are to sleep in not for sitting and looking at the view!
Helmet
only 8 miles on a bike!
And no thats not 45 minutes!
Max 30…
Totally depends on the route.. 🤷🏻♀️
I just thought of cycling on a typical English grey day with drizzle hitting you in the face. Not much fun. I think he made the right choice. And you can always add a bit of character with moldings and the way you furnish it. He probably has a good eye for this, working in a museum. The other couple were very sweet. We meet quite a few demanding buyers on this show. They were quite positive about everything they saw.
@brendazolli3059 Good points, Brenda.. I realised this person only ever leaves critical comments though.. I have no idea why he or she bothers to watch this channel.. 🤷🏻♀️
Photographer Phil is a ventriloquist
LOL at "not haunted".
That poor baby in that baby holder with arms in the air. It looks so uncomfortable.
Presumably the 8 mile commute was either way, making a 16 mile round commute for Tim. That was a stupid property for Kirsty to show him, when she knows he doesn't use a car..................
Tim could buy an electric assist bicycle for his commute keeping the lightweight bike for pleasure rides. I've owned electric assist bikes since 2002 (my usual commute, at 43 - 50 y/o, was 16km per day round trip). The electric option makes a longer commutes quite comfortable - one still must pedal, shift gears, etc., and you can plug the battery in to re-charge whilst at work all day. Plus, electric assist allows extended exploring into surrounding areas on days off.
As well, I live in a temperate rain forest and Vancouver, BC, Canada, gets 140cm rain annually and when I lived in North Vancouver it was 250cm. Oxford gets about 67cm/year.
I think the house they chose is ugly....................
I think it very unprofessional, & a tad cruel, of Kirsty to take him to see a just reduced listing that is still 15k over his budget. Not her first time either!
She shows people what there is to give them a reality check. When they can't afford their location or wishlist, and you need them to adjust their demands or location, you show them something they will love, to make them realize they can't afford it. A huge part of this process (and the show) is *learning* what the market is really like, what you need and what you want, etc. With all the information about the realities of the market, a person can change locations or lower standards or try to borrow more money. She's doing her job far better than viewers can do it. That's why she's a success in house-finding. She knows what people need to know to make a good decision.
@@FigaroHeyI Totally agree. Phil and Kirsty are completely on top of their game, Kirsty the more ruthless, but sometimes that's what people need! ❤ XXX
What would be unprofessional would be to NOT show every property that covers a wish list even if over budget.
There is a simple reason Kirsty and Phil have such a high success rate-- their professionalism.
@@maxineb9598 the flat was JUST REDUCED & still £15,000 over his budget. What sense does that make especially if there's a good chance the client will love it? Phil doesn't pull that crap on people.
@@joannahampton5979Phil does do that lol I don’t see a problem with it because you can always negotiate.
