Them pictures brought back memories from 70s through 80s growing on and off from Falkirk, my mum and granny used to take us Moscadini's for the fish supper washed down with my childhood favourite ice cream float ( iron bru + ice cream). Pity its all charity shops now, they closed bus station. Thanks for trip down memory lane.
Thanks so much for this video. My dsd was born in Bo'ness and lived there from 42 to the early 60s when he came down to Liverpool for work. He met my mum and married, his brother done the same and both had many happy years in Liverpool. When we where small we (meaning me and my cousins loved coming to Falkirk for holidays. We still do tho spend time with family. Thank you again for this video I have been taken back in time knowing that my dad and family walked ther. I feel so much closer to my dad.
I really miss it.. Use to be great shopping loved going up the town in a Saturday a bit of shopping and then in the afternoon a good drink and then something to eat and back home... Miss them day's.
Love it. Born in Falkirk 1931.Glenochil, Comely Park School, then the technical. Travelled the world scince those days. But still remain A Falkirk Bairn. ❤
I too have travelled, 20 years in SE Asia and East Africa….. but always said I was from ‘near Edinburgh’ would never own up to have grown up where the town motto says ‘pick a fight with one of us and we’ll all lick the crap out of you…’ (modern translation)
Fantastic photos ,brings back many memories.I just wish there had been photos of the Howgate I worked with Carter and Santi the Joiners across the street was Mitchell’s Dairy. And next to us was a Plumbers then Munnochs Upholstery and at the top oh the hill was Ingles the printers and of course the Baths. Those were happy days for me
I worked for Mitchell in the 60s delivering milk down the bog Eddie was the driver 5.30 am and I partnered Billy Murray Every Saturday we would get payed for our weeks work and Mr Mitchell would count out £1 in ten pence pieces into your hand and you got a half crown on a Sunday all this was before school and I started age 12 years
Hiya! I'm not from Falkirk or even Scotland for that matter. But my friend Ralph, is from Falkirk and he's a bit older than me. I'm going to tell him about this video and ask him about the Sleeves record store and see if he did shopping there when he was younger. Good video, cheers!
@@garrymcfadden4105 Ha ha! I have not asked him yet. Thank you for reminding me though. I'll either give him a ring, or I'll see him at the highland games, where he sells kilts and kilt accessories, there. Will be interesting to see his reaction, if he knows the place :D
I lived in Blackburn as a wee boy in the early 60s and my Grannie used to come up in the Shotts bus to Bathgate - then at night we wpuld see he back on the bus again - When i would go with my mum to Bo"ness sometimes as a treat we would get the Falkirk bus and we would get a fish tea in Mosccadinis

So true, we have only of ourselves to blame for Falkirk high street not being what it used to be because of online shopping, but i suppose we are the part of the problem and have no right to moan for the state it is in today , it is what it is
I have lived here since 03, love it myself although I can see the centre is not what it was even in my time. The retail park has a lot do with that also btw.
