I can't believe how much Falkirk town centre has fallen...it really saddens me. I remember when I was a boy and teenager, Falkirk being a busy town. Falkirk council....used to be called the Falkirk mafia..says it all!
As a bairn v pleased to hear the Calley Sq is going to be the town centre site. Bringing real footfall to the high st again and where any self respecting towns hall should be anyway.

I see and hear the frustration come through in your presentation on the challenges with planning and building control regulations. It saddens me that the people in those roles can be so obstinate in face of a project actually trying to do good, even though you rightly want to turn a profit as well. This is especially crazy when you consider the times we are living through with a lack of affordable housing and availbility! Many of those regulations that you describe as an uphill struggle with in connection with those old buildings are just sheer insanity and why the folk in those departments can not see sense is beyond me. They are the ones who are inflaming the problems. I wish you luck in your future endevours.

The problem is that the people who write the Building Standards Regulations know little about buildings. This is why so many old buildings become derelict.
Creating decent spec finish accomodation in Falkirk town centre isnt what it needs. Planning will restrict that plus 250k for a flat in Falkirk no way may as well get something in Glasgow/Edinburgh. Real Estate investment companies actually make the housing issues worse not better. You mentioned it many times money. You dont do the projects to benefit those in need of housing its to line your pockets
The SNP was given the money to strip the combustibles from Scottish buildings, sadly the money disappeared like many other monies handled by the SNP still waiting for justice over crimes against the Scottish people and our country. The building restrictions are a joke the SNP just never want to improve Falkirk or Scotland.
