As an old WOT player, hearing Stun/Concussion Mechanics _gives me conniptions_ (if you know you know).
I can relate I'm a ex WOT player
Same here. I think the RNG and release of more and more OP premiums would've gotten me to leave eventually, but the arty stun certainly sped up the process.
@@tomoe6108 Yep, same here. I used to play arty because I liked being a good teammate.
I was trying my best to switch between arty hunting and fire support but after they went with the change both became annoying:
1.Arty hunting was now scuffed since you couldn't 1 shot arties in most cases and thus even the brain rot arties that sat in the same place all game would move.
2.Fire support was now scuffed since even if I liked that you won't KS as often you now couldn't deal any damage to save your teammates if you needed to.
+in the beginning (dunno if it was changed) you harmed both the enemy and ally if they were too close.
As an EX WOT heavy tank main, I have ptsd from Arty and the stun from it.
@@Nova_ODT Oh god, don't remind me. Arty in general was and probably still is hell for Heavy Tanks. Before the change you'd get nuked and after you get slowly chipped at and constantly stunned.
This is why I both loved and hated playing heavies. Thank god for city maps.
Probably the most comprehensive explanation of this mechanic, and I agree, it would suck. The more and more I hear people talk about it, the more and more I dislike it since I misunderstood. Honestly kinda scummy that Gaijin would do this, making the text purposely hard to understand so it divides a community more. The game should have realism, but should not be realistic, if yall get what I mean. It's what makes the extra modules ok and what makes part of the extra fires ok.
I think this mechanic should NOT be added since it would reward people bad at the game who shoot at the parts of the tank they can't pen reliably or where a shot wouldnt do much damage despite a penetration. People should get better at the game instead.
I really liked learning each type of tank and where the weak spots/ammo racks were. Wasn't really hard either, I'd just go into protection analysis after a match after having a hard time with whatever type, then mentally figured out the best places for me to reliably hit from whatever angles. Really wasn't hard, as you practice with these spots over time and reinforce what works.
i think they should get a better anti cheat
Yep, fix the current issues
The entire concept of realism in this game is hilarious.
As Lord Gaben sayeth:
So someone told me "that isn't very realistic" but screw that, I'm playing games for fun, realism ain't fun. The whole point of games is to escape reality.
Next step to realism: after getting hit u loose ur hearing and the damaged limbs and u have to donate them to clinics
it honestly sounds like something they should add to sim battles if people want realism. I just play GR battles. At the end of the day I just want a fun game to play
the main issue is that the devs even came up with such a stupid idea
They always seem to over complete things, the whole crew healing thing they want to implement is just arcade like there should be 3 or 2 stations at spawn where u can heal crew members and replenish ammo and maybe one other to repair yellow damage models be it engin or gun etc for example one cap games if the enemy has got the cap and u run out of ammo then what personally they should make a healing place and ammo depo in spawn
2S38 type 90 Puma KF41 9040 HSTV: YES YES YES
They come up with $hit like this instead of making new game mode’s
all I want is new maps
fucking new maps and make them big
gaijin needs to stop breaking the game
Exactly. Gaijin needs to design maps for their respective BRs right now it’s shit playing too big of a map at 6.7 and too small of a map at 11.7
@@Collat3ralD4mage That and they handle terrain very poorly. Its either mostly flat with slight elevation changes or has one major terrain feature that allows a team to spawncamp.
they need to spread the objetives in arb so one can bomb or ground pound without having 16 guys jumping you when you are trying to spade a useless plane
The majority don’t want those types of maps.
How about a two or three day trial period on the changes and go from their if you like it or not. and yes I don't like the camera shake or Tinnitus.
I'd like to meet the vehicle crew who, after having a sabot rip through their tank, don't say "f*ck this" and bail, but instead decide to fight back. Maybe we can have route mechanics - if you receive a penetrating hit, you lose control of your vehicle, which tries to drive back to the spawn point and out of the map, "for repairs" - oh and no repairing of modules in the field. Admittedly though, it would depend on how they implemented it: the "tinnitus" and stun mechanic was implemented in the original CS flashbang decades back, and was fine to the degree of the game becoming one of the most played e-sports games ever.
But seriously, I'd be happy enough with realistic (historical) sights and forced gunner sights in RB (and maybe target tracking in tanks that historically have them). That being said, aside from a few possible such tweaks, the game will not really develop any further towards realism - not in mechanics, not in BR-historical match making.
the mechanic wouldn’t be very fun, however the sound effects that may come with it could be revolutionary to me for immersion.
When I get shot by a large caliber round, I want to hear it like I was in the tank, I want a concussing sound effect and to hear my crew yelling. It would genuinely make the game a lot more immersive and fun for me. The stun mechanic itself doesn’t sound very fun, but god I just want those sfx 😔
if anything, add it to simulator or custom battle option
I would say that some of these ideas are pretty good that gaijin has put forward, but the more and more I think about some of them the more and more I hate them like the stunned mechanic at first I was actually pretty intrigued about this but then I started thinking what if you came across a tank that had a auto loader say 10 seconds or so. and he shoots you and stunned your crew, and do we really need more RNG in this game?
1:05 Naval does already have shaky camera
Now, to be fair it is a global setting, meaning it also happens to Ground and Air; and is only present on 3rd person. I assume most players have it on a low setting.
However naval is the most extreme of them. Whenever having an explosion nearby, be it firing a salvo, a torpedo hitting, shells splashing nearby, or a bomb falling. When the setting is at 100%, the camera can shake up to about 30º for 2.5 seconds. Give or take.
On ground is less, having like 15º for 1 second, and Air is 5º for 0.5 seconds.
But again, who aims on 3rd person when firing, while also having the shaky option set to 100%?
The problem with the concussion mechanic is that sometimes the other player is invisible even when looking at them so they get the first shot when you were the one with the better position and holding that angle. I like the first one because it solves a lot of problems and is more realistic and better for gameplay.
As someone who deals with chronic migraine the extra motions from stunned crew will definitely suck ( especially the tinnitus ) like the people u play with said, I would actually have to consider not playing which would suck.
Maybe it would be best to add some of these things into realistic battles and then some more into simulated battles. Seem the realism lines have already been drawn with the different mods of play.
First one to camp wins, or even worse imagine if it's someone who is a absolute sweat lord, who can carefully aim and take out your essencial components and crew one by one, stun-locking your gunner/commander time after time.
I still say, tinnitus & camera shake should go to a *togglable effects.*
Standard queue would be better to be more of a "Game" while they Should run lets say, weekend or week events like Enduring Confrontation. These would be longer winded battles with no loss of rewards, Objective focused, Larger maps or more unique maps. These would also be more "Historical" however not a total compromise so one team does not just flock to the "OP" side.
Realistic gameplay be like:
Oh, an antenna, launch a TOW-2B!
Bonk.
Well, breach is out we are ded.
If it’s implemented in a way that you can’t get stunned-locked by SPAA, and doesn’t trigger on a non-pen, then the concussion mechanic will be a long-overdue buff for solid shot.
It will be nice something like Gunner Heat
I want the damage care mechanics and stun still just to try it. But no to the screen shake and tinnitus that’s too much
playing any open top SPAA at low BR is already pretty much a death sentence but if u do manage to survive the whole stunning is just bad, already trying to fight 4-5 enemy aircraft is a pain as is dont need to get stunned by a plane missing my crew with its mgs/cannons just to watch my turret just slowly aim away from the plane im targeting. its jsut bad in general in anyway u look at it
I think what should happen is a brief nerf of the vehicle, this could be a slightly slower acceleration from the driver, a slightly longer targeting time, a slight inaccuracy in where the shell actually goes
This allows the vehicle to still be combat effect while suffering a slight nerf for maybe 5 or 10 seconds
I think the concussion mechanic makes no sense for WarThunder as a whole because people are drawn majority to the Realistic and Arcade modes where there is a expected amount of realism between the respective game modes. To put in, even in realistic, a stun / concussion style mechanic where often you find yourself overrun but a push of opposing players, will kill people’s enthusiasm. The game itself gives you the ability to play as a tanker but from the safety of your home 😂 you’re not expecting it to be realistic.
However, when looking at it in the context of trying to mimic real life, simulator mode would be the only logical area where you could implement a mechanic like this simply as you have more chance to be able to recover and respond if affected by the by the mechanic especially when the opposing player may miss their shot or hide because of a long reload or fear of retaliation.
Like that they are thinking about improvements though.
Remember when World of Warships were going to add Stun Bombs to carriers? I mean it must be a bad idea if they think stun mechanics is too much lol
thats exactly what i thought when i first heard of it.
I'm torn. Common sense says sadly gaijin can't implement this is a good game play way.
Part of me wants it because it would be a big improvement to my main nation Britain which famously use solid munitions and I. Real life the stun and pressure effects were tank killers so would position Brits better for the ammo issues they suffer due to game mechanics.
The issue is spaa and rapid firing autocannon can already be a pain to shoot through the smoke and flashes on your sites. These new mechanics would make these way way worse.
I have to lean toward not adding it for the overall game play.
Like they wouldn't just let go of the turret controls. Just hanging onto it as their head spins and the turret and massive safety risk guns swing wildly all over the place like that vid of the Bradley nailing the T-90 targeting computer 😂.
Use your brain gaijin.
Add the stun effects to Sim in stages and see how it works. I don't want it near RB.
I crave this power on the otomatic, the concussiomatic
If they were adding penalties when your crew members are killed all your arguments would be the same. That's silly. All this new mechanic would do is give you a second or two to get into cover when your shell does nothing to a vehicle it should realistically do something to
concussion for HE shells would be dope but i don't really want it for much more than that
U remember that the most people play arcade right?
No one ever cars about us Arcade players because we are ¨Low Skill¨ I hate that even by Gaijins own numbers over 70% of players only play AB in all modes yet we get shit on for not wanting to be pixel hunters getting killed by moving bushes
Or how about using the many ammunitions for their intended purposes or increasing APDS spall on light armor instead of rewarding people for their poor aim.
I belive that this situation has brought up the worst problem of the community, their lack of empathy. Both groups want a change regardless of what the other group may think.
In my opinion i belive that geting shot is a little bit underwelming and it would be nice to have an (OPTIONAL AND PURELY AESTHETIC) screan shake. Because as he said adding gameplay effects to that would only make the game less fun for everyone, as if you move you are punish but if nobody moves the macht gets borring.
What I also don't get is the fact that when you are punished even more by getting penetrated now why bother about a crew healing mechanic. It is either live or die then anyway:-). And please don't let them add option 2 with the tinitus and sparks. And I really like the point you made about that people would just push harder because it is easyer to win such engagements and not worry that much about positioning and realistic tank combat.
Id love to have just the crew healing, red gunners are a nuisance
The most complained about mechanics in every PVP game are the CC, or crowd control mechanics, ie Stuns, and other effects that remove the players ability to do anything.
Why add something thats never going to be balanced and need dozens of patches, and cause new players to leave the game faster.
Any thoughts on only NATO tanks getting the die faster nerf of more modules?
They should ad a feature where you die in real life if you die in the game
Just put these new mechanics in a special game mode and see how they're recieved
I suffered that crap in WoT and Tarkov for years. Please don't bring it to WT.
Six 2 minute youtube adds within first 5 minutes of video .... 10/10 would listen about some idle phone game
skill issue
realistic tank combat means longer ranges
camera shake is not enjoyable in video games, tinnitus is not enjoyable even if you're a metalhead.
And if Ivan the russian crewmate can survive a 12.7mm to the chest, it's not some concussion that will stop him
Just the fact I can imagine light tanks/spaa being designated stunners to just zip around keep people "stunlocked" until a larger shell comes, Just rubs me the wrong way.
simple rule: gameplay > realism
Im worried about how this will effect people with high ping. We already deal with enough BS, is this going to be ×10 worse for us than people with day 30 ping....
I think they should some of these mechanics such as stunning crew in simulator. If it works out, add it to other modes
no. just no.
You let go of your turret controls if you don't feel well. The gun is a incredible safety hazard, you don't just hang onto it as your head spins and the turret swings around wildly.
It's the opposite of what they are trying to do if they are going for realism.
@ulfhedtyrsson Yeah, as long as it's just in sim and outside of events, im alright
It doesnt matter... i never survive the first shot. My mauz has died to these arty tanks in a single hit lately and so has the ho ri.
Stun mechanics lower the skill gap.
If you hit and do nothing YOU MISSED, YOU SUCK, AIM BETTER AT IMPORTANT PARTS
I've noticed over the years that War Thunder players often have an extremely elitist attitude about playing Realistic vs Arcade. Arcade players are often looked down upon and made fun of, but it's also funny the realistic players also don't seem to want realism. I understand the arguments about gameplay, etc, and usually I play DCS when I want to play a proper sim. However I think it's time to rename Realistic to Arcade+.
I have a real tinitus on both ears and it´s not fun, if you hear allday the sound of it. I voted against this change.
I really dislike the idea of this mechanic and feel it may drive me out. I'm already not a good player and I feel this will just get me into permanent stunlocks.
That guy is a light tank monkey. I get first shot, so I win. Lol
In my opinion and experience if you are a good shot hiiting targets where they should be hit then the target will not have the opportinity to get stunned. They will be sent back to the vehicle selection screen or the hangar right then and there. Same goes for healing crewmembers. A well-hit target will not have the chance to escape and heal. They will be destroyed by the first shot or the second one that's coming. Besides. taking out crewmembers already works as a stun, as it takes 10 seconds at best to replace a crewmember and if you have no commander overdrive you can't fire for ten secs at all, during which most vehicles will make at least one more shot. And if your target is stilll alive after you have pumped 2 or 3 shots into it you desrve to be shot and killed probably. Giving more advantages to the attacker is not needed, the defenders are already at your mercy if the attacker shoots first and does damage because he is a good shot. If not you still have the option to retreat or move so enemy has harder time to return fire. People standing still after they deliver their shot are the easiest to take out and I kepp seeing it over and over again. They think just because they shot first they should be automaticly win that engagement, but that's not how it works. In the end this meachanic is to support that idea and it's a mess in my opinion. It shouldn't be added or even consiedered.
Add concussion for bad drivers
Getting doge-bonked in pvp games is awful, period.
Vote NO for Stun!
Stun ruined World of Tanks!
I will just simply stop playing this game just like world of tanks. It will drastically hurt the game.
If you want realism go join the military
I like the idea of these mechanics. Sounds immersive to have the concussion mechanics.
i dont understand why people are voting no on adding more ways to set fires, if you dont want realistic damage models go play WOT.
When you said that you "dont understand why people want realism over gameplay" thats just your opinion that clearly is not shared with all WT players, I myself play the game for realism and want it to become more realistic, if that nurfs certain vehicles then lower their br.
Its funny that people complain about more ways to get disabled but forget that its also more ways for them to disable someone else, it just shows they lose more often than they win
I find it very pleasing to see all the "realistic" loving players crying and throwing a tantrum over a nice new potential mechanic being added into the game. I hope they add it. People want realistic armor and leak files for it but not realistic consequences?
Go play wot if you can't tolerate realism. It is the only thing that what made it as it's today.
Go join the army if you want realism

TEC, you find it odd how some people want realism to the greatest degree possible as that wouldn't be fun.
Well, that portion of the fan base fond it odd how you can have fun with the historical inaccuraties.
Then we have to consider the players who find it odd that anyone is having fun when we don't have a vehicle that 100% guarantees survival (no matter what you are shot/bombed by) and victory in every single encounter. 😉
One word people - PING! @TheEuropeanCanadian
The god darn ping to the server! In this game who ever has the better ping wins specially in high BR. (I not gonna even include constant the PL due to the shit servers)
I play from AU (ping to NA server is always in the 200 plus) and in higher BR's I have had multiple instances were I know I shot first but I still die to an enemy that shoot me after I had already shot him and my shell/shot doesn't count and I do no damage to him as in the server's view the enemy shot first! I already avoid playing higher BR due to this.
Making a mechanic that would make it harder for people to fight back would STOP me from playing.
Australian problems.
