Any update Drew? Looking to do an Onan install soon for the same reason as you with a Dog
I actually have been working on a follow up video but I have not fully resolved the issue yet. After “exercising” the generation a few times, it seems like if I put it under a moderate load like the ac on low, it will run it for 30-40 mins no problem. However, I’ve tried running it without much of a load and still getting the high rpm error code when it cuts out.
There is apparently a speed regulator on top of the unit near the carb that can throttle it up or down and it’s possible it’s not adjusted correctly. I have not had time to take the unit out and take the cover off to try and adjust it.
My advice would be to run any used unit under varying loads for 30 mins or so prior to committing to purchase. I am sure I’ll have this straightened out by next camping season and fortunately I snagged this one for around $400 which is very very cheap for a running 4K microquiet.
Try taking a quart of oil out it sounds crazy but works
My Onan generator will run for hours with no issues. But once I begin to travel in my RV with the Generator still running (keep fridge cold etc), it stops after about 5 mins. Error code is 36 which is the dumbest error code possible. Once it stops, it will not run. It attempts to start for about one second then immediately turns off with the same error code. Yes, has gas obviously as it will run for hours sitting in the lot. Yes, new pump, plugs, air filters and fuel line filter. After awhile, it will start again but only when the RV is not running or moving. Once moving, it will stop within 20 mins or less. Often after 5 mins. Thanks for any suggestions.
No idea. That’s really odd. These seemed to have such a good reputation and after buying one I’ve just heard the worst things about them.
