Good info, it would be nice if you did a close up to show the bolt, threads, basically a visual to what its going to look like. I have the 4000 and it just started to give me the 14 code. Hopefully I can find this without having to remove the generator.

Age (hours), dirty air filter, generator brush condition (shouldn't but can), slipping belt (bad tensioner, etc), valves need adjustment... basically anything that can affect performance/RPM of the genset will alter the frequency it outputs. It wants to stay in the 60Hz neighborhood because that's where U.S. devices are engineered to operate. Engine/generator RPM determine frequency, sooo... The additional adjustments available allow more control over various other conditions. ALSO - Nylock nuts are a mix of good and bad. They work great for a once and left alone forever, in one place setting but start adjusting them a couple times and they will stray. Best bet is to either replace that nut or install two standard nuts together to lock them together and prevent possible loosening.

My Onan is a 5500, hard to start but when it does on for a couple seconds then turns off. Code 14. Not enough time to get a reading.
