    I like how imperfections in the swirls, like drag from the heavier materials and wobble during the spin, creates smaller, subtle vortexes at points of most convenience, then the circle forming at the very top takes on a more "hexagonal" shape, similar to that of the top of Saturn.

    • @Cletus_Johannes

      you noticed how quickly the hexagon fades, do you think Saturn's hexagon has a similar fate?

      *Cletus J. Pearson*
      Probably. But when working on those scales, where the motion of a planet is seemingly perpetual, compared to the span of a human lifetime, the hexagon will probably remain there for anywhere between several hundreds- to hundred thousands of years, unless something extreme directly disrupts the flow.

      Heck, I can answer the first. It's a compromise between strategies of distributed computation for a simulation, as well as the physical limitations of said computing devices.

      You answered HOW....not WHY.

    • @jadedandbitter
      @jadedandbitter 3 роки тому +10

      @@warriorson7979 no, I answered WHY. It's something that gets created by differing update speeds across adjacent parallel cores when you have them independently distributing workload according to local load. You COULD have processing resources dedicated to assigning even allocation of said resources, but that overhead becomes prohibitive as you scale the system. Its better to have cores distribute load to their neighbors in a parallel processing array independently, and at diminishing amounts so you dont have sharp differences in the sectors of the simulation in terms of update frequency and instead have a gradient. Update frequency=time to the simulation inhabitants. So, areas of the sim with large amounts of stuff to process(i.e energy/mass) run slower than the areas that dont(gravitic time warping), with the load being offloaded gradually to the surrounding areas of the sim, creating a smooth gradient of decreasing update times as the local load becomes less and less. That's your general relativity right there.
      Special relativity is simply that along with the consequences of your cores having a maximum speed at which they can hand off the info to the adjacent core.
      So again, the WHY is that its the most efficient way to cohesively run a very large simulation that has a very large amount of parallel processing going on.

      Hi - Tim does go to various toy fairs, but these are normally showcasing new toys that if they are not available yet, may well be soon. But many toys from Tim's collection can often be 20 or 30 years old, and in most cases will not be made any more.
