    True professional. Great communication style with the added finesse of no autocue while filming on set!

      It takes a while to memorise the script, but I hope it adds to the experience for the viewer!

    Hi Alex, thanks for this! I really enjoy these videos!
    Any chance you know his sister’s name? I read that one my Pringle ancestors married one of Robert the Bruce’s sisters, but I’ve never been able to find her name or a marriage record.

      Mary Bruce - you can read more about her here: www.newcastlecastle.co.uk/castle-blog/mary-bruce

      He had several sisters, the Bruces being a big family, but I think I heard her name was Mary. I am descended from the English De Brus, who were cousins of the Bruces, but wishing to remain loyal to Edward I, they changed their surname to Skelton, being the village in North Yorkshire where they were Lords of the Manor. It's near where Saltburn would later be built.

    Interesting that you mentioned the Ogles...there was a lot of animosity between the Herons and Ogles as well as the Kerr's, a lot of intermarriage between the minor Scottish clan HERON and Maxwell's in kirkudbright, they fought at the siege of Stirling castle on the Scottish side whilst the "English " Herons were commanded by to fight for king Edward. 😀

    Strange I thought I'd posted minutes ago about you having listened to Genesis a few times. You have still to listen to Yes the band who inspired Geddy and Rush must not have posted !!!

    Great presentation, Alex, but distracted by your unusual pronunciation of Balliol (baa, not bay). Presumably there's no way of knowing which is historically accurate?

    • @AlexIlesUK
      @AlexIlesUK  3 місяці тому +1

      Honestly I struggle with pronunciation! I'm dyslexic and while I love reading sometimes can't convert the letters into sounds in my head! I joke people should come to the channel for content not grammar lessons :D
