When Chris said Buffy would want to turn Joyce into a vampire, I said " are we watching Vampire Diaries and I didnt know?" Vampire lore is different in every movie and show. @@thedernboy giving her soul back this way would be a malediction. Not a great thing to inflict on someone you love. Especially when turning them into a vampire is a malediction by itself. Someone in the comments probably already mentioned this but they laid the groundwork for Joyce's tumor back in season 2. There's a moment where she asks Buffy if she's really ready to drive and then she drops a plate just out of nowhere. I think there are other moments but that's the one that pops into mine as of right now.
The one thing Riley wants is to be there for Buffy but she keeps turning him away. It’s just bad timing for her every time he’s available to be her rock.
S5 was so hard hitting, another brilliant episode showing the real anguish and anxiety when a parent becomes ill, and the trauma of having to deal with it for the children. Even though we know Buffy is strong she breaks down doing the washing up, and cries her eyes out, great acting. Again we see Dawn being the focus of strange reactions to her which is really worrying her now, and also we see Spike's obsession with Buffy becoming stronger, and Ben of course isn't what he seems. The Queller demon was one of the worst in the series . Another really good episode from S5. This strangely scores a low IMDB score of only 7.0
Even after many rewatches, I'm completely on board with the group's Riley stance. He has very legitimate issues, but he's done a piss poor job at communicating to her, and now it's snowballed internally for him. Not only that, but now is *not* the time to level with her.
one of joyce's great moments!and one of the saddest for buffy!the scene where she cried...heartbreaking!as for the space cockroach...wait till i throw up, i'll comment later!..
7:35 No, not aliens, although demons are not of this world or even this dimension. The creatures in this tend to be more supernatural/horror than Sci-Fi.
This was great. You took an episode that I usually skip over, and got me to really enjoy watching it again. I have no strong feelings about worms. Not fond of maggots or botflies though.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer 5x9 "Listening to Fear" is a fantastic episode. It is one of the most emotionally resonant episodes of the entire series, and it deals with complex themes of family, fear, and loss in a poignant and thought-provoking way. Meanwhile, a creepy extra-terrestrial demon called the Queller arrives in Sunnydale. The Queller feeds on the fear of the mentally ill and soon sets its sights on Joyce. As Joyce's condition worsens, the Queller becomes more powerful, and it begins to torment both her and Buffy. In the end, Buffy can defeat the Queller only after Joyce learns the truth about Dawn. Joyce is understandably shocked and confused but accepts Dawn into the family. The episode ends with a touching scene between Buffy and Joyce, reaffirming their love for each other. "Listening to Fear" is a powerful episode that explores the dark side of fear and the importance of family. It is a must-watch for any fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Please don't take this the wrong way but am I the only who thinks Raj is kinda looking like that kid Laurent from Daryl Dixon's show? Lol. His look/style reminded me of him.
Chris lookin damn sexy w/ that facial hair!!! Love Suraj's beard and long hair. All the dudes are lookin great! But i'm here to watch Rana and Marketa react to this amazing show lol
Chris: "[Riley] thinks he's being the best boyfriend possible" So true. And some people think so as well, even though he's not there for her in the way she needs him.
And how she needs him exactly? I’m not saying his perfect, cause he isn’t, but he’s just trying to be there for her and she doesn’t really acknowledge his presence. You can try to be there for the person you love, but it has to be mutual, not a one way street.
I think the director told Michelle (Dawn) to behave like a total idiot. Because most fourteen year olds are trying to be TOO mature and wouldn’t be caught dead eating jell-o with their fingers like a damn toddler.
Nobody could handle the Queller Demon, accept for Chris. Ya handled it liken a man, Chris. KUDOS. The rest of ya, it was like you were watching the movie JAWS. LMAO!!! This was/is an awesome episode, in my opinion.
I honestly think Riley's more interesting now. In season 4, I think he was occasionally endearing, occasionally annoying, but mostly just kind of bland. He didn't really have anything to make him interesting outside of the Initiative, and the Initiative storyline was...not a fan favourite. But his arc in season 5 so far, as much as it makes him look like a douche, feels like it's an acknowledgement of his shortcomings as a character. Without the Initiative, he has *nothing* in his life except Buffy, so he can't handle it when she seems to be drifting away from him. The Initiative didn't exactly encourage its members to question themselves or reflect on their actions, so when Buffy doesn't say she loves him back, it can't be that she's being a bit guarded because her previous serious love interests have *all* hurt her after she opened up or showed vulnerability to them (Angel turned evil and took advantage of her baring her soul to hurt her, Parker manipulated her into a one-night stand and made her feel bad for getting the wrong idea after he deliberately led her on, and Scott dumped her the first time she seemed to be dealing with stuff even after she told him that she was recently in a relationship that ended badly,) it must be that she doesn't love him back. She didn't call him about Joyce's cancer diagnosis, but she told Spike? He never even confirms whether or not she told the rest of the Scoobies (judging by them not mentioning it at all until after Buffy tells Riley and calls them from the hospital, she didn't,) it must mean that Buffy loves Spike more than him. Dawn tells Riley that his relationship with Buffy isn't nearly as full of drama as the Buffy/Angel star-crossed lovers mess? It can't be that she meant that the relationship is a lot more stable, it must mean that Buffy doesn't love him. This all pretty much fits Riley's character. He's an unemployed ex-soldier, most of his army buddies are dead, his mission is gone, and he has nothing to distract him from his insecurities about the only thing he has going on in his life.
Buffy is having an emotional crisis, Riley is having an identity crisis, meanwhile Spike is stalking Buffy, breaking into her house, stealing her belongings, and emasculating her boyfriend.
This episode sucks. Not in the sense that it's badly written, directed or performed, it's just horrible. Really unpleasant to watch Joyce (Kristine Sutherland absolutely kills it throughout Buffy but this episode is one of her best performances IMOO) going through the mental and emotional ringer like this, and the knock-on effects on Buffy and Dawn are equally horrible to watch. Regarding Riley, I'm torn personally - he is not handling things at all well with Joyce's illness, but equally Buffy has been treating him as a disposable emotional support blanket when she needs him, and not really investing much effort into addressing his emotional needs. You can say that she has good reasons for doing so, and she does, but equally she doesn't really signal to Riley that she sees him as someone on whom she relies. She essentially treats him as a close-ish friend with benefits a lot of the time. Riley doesn't handle this well, and does the classic passive-aggressive "fine, if you want me to not be a bother to you then I just won't be around at all" weaponised compliance move. But he is not whining - Buffy signals to him that she doesn't really need him around, so he doesn't bother to be around. It's flawed but human. I always find that Buffy fans tend to adopt a certain degree of Protagonist Centred Morality where Riley is concerned. He is a much more human partner than Angel ever was, which means that he has some considerable flaws. I think it's well executed and has some complexity to it

They did nort know if there would be a 6th season .So they pullout all of the stops and wrote this as if it would be the last season .
“I’m not Joyce I’m moist” 🤣🤣
Drink everytime Chris strokes his beard like an 80s Miami Cop on the scene
Someone in the comments probably already mentioned this but they laid the groundwork for Joyce's tumor back in season 2. There's a moment where she asks Buffy if she's really ready to drive and then she drops a plate just out of nowhere. I think there are other moments but that's the one that pops into mine as of right now.
We are getting ckose to episode 16 i cant wait
The one thing Riley wants is to be there for Buffy but she keeps turning him away. It’s just bad timing for her every time he’s available to be her rock.
the worm creature looks a lot like the worm creature from poltergeist II.
This strangely scores a low IMDB score of only 7.0
So the goop the thing pukes is just to choke you to death and then breaks down after you die.
Between Chris’s 80 sheriff mustache and suraj emo hairdo, idk what’s more hilarious.😂😂
Hmm I wonder if there's a connection between Glory and Ben.
Buffy series running normally.
The guys at 3:14 of this video: HOOEEY...WOOOWWAAAAHHH!!!
hahahaha😆😅
*Joyce having regular aggressive uncontrollable outbursts as a symptom of a brain tumor*
Rana: I don't think she needs the surgery anymore you guys
ha. over 2 seasons since joyce found out and he's glad she found out. some quick thinkin
OMG, the irony... "Would she let her stay dead?" They would certainly not. Ahem.
04:68 Suraj, just letting you know that at least one person got your MGS2 reference.
Simon the Queller is a supernatural being/demon summoned by Ben. If it had been an actual alien then it wouldn't have had such a humanoid face
13:31 my god this vibe
Even after many rewatches, I'm completely on board with the group's Riley stance. He has very legitimate issues, but he's done a piss poor job at communicating to her, and now it's snowballed internally for him. Not only that, but now is *not* the time to level with her.
Marketa, I own that same color Shemagh.
Joyce out here being Best Mom.
just started the reaction im only 1 minute in why are you trying to pull a dawn on us that isnt our dimensions chris your not fooling anyone lol
one of joyce's great moments!and one of the saddest for buffy!the scene where she cried...heartbreaking!as for the space cockroach...wait till i throw up, i'll comment later!..
7:35 No, not aliens, although demons are not of this world or even this dimension. The creatures in this tend to be more supernatural/horror than Sci-Fi.
I appreciate the Joe Dirt reference this episode.
This was great. You took an episode that I usually skip over, and got me to really enjoy watching it again.
I have no strong feelings about worms.
Not fond of maggots or botflies though.
The only Buffy monster I actually still have nightmares about after watching this when it originally aired. (Also, I could never stand Riley.)
Space demons!
Chris lookin damn sexy w/ that facial hair!!! Love Suraj's beard and long hair. All the dudes are lookin great! But i'm here to watch Rana and Marketa react to this amazing show lol
6:06 Micky watched Fringe!
This is sad *dances. I loved it!
The Queller demon is played by a stunt woman who has no legs
Regarding Joyce's feelings about Dawn, I think the doubt would have eaten at Joyce more with guilt over the doubt.
21:38 Mickey is on a path
Chris: "[Riley] thinks he's being the best boyfriend possible"
So true.
Are you saying theres some link between Ben and Glory?
Man… the end discussion.
Bottom line heat summon a demon to kill over five people. He's Evil! If you missed that, you're really missing something...
Guys, at some point... PLEASE do a reaction to David Cronenberg's "The Fly" (1986).
So the minion and Ben seem like they're on good terms to Rana, I guess
At least it's not as scary as whatever that platinum blonde creature that lived on Teal'c's face for a while.... kerk
So what's scarier this thing or the Gentleman.
Normies don't read this comment

So... Could Ben and Glory be siblings? I mean, they must have some kind of a connection
So what you're saying is that Ben... and... Glory... may have some sort of, connection, perhaps?
does anyone know how far ahead they are on patreon ?
17:35 🤝🏽😂
Are you still donating to Sag until the deals ratified?
Micky's silly impersonation of Riley was hilarious!
Is Riley cheating with the vampire? Well she was sucking vital fluids filled with DNA out of Riley so I would consider that to be cheating.
Joyce gets some great moments next season.
I'm not that sure with the Shaft look Chris !😝
PREACH! !!!!
Buffy's going through it and her boyfriend is out getting side sucks lmao that's crazy 😅
ben isnt evil
Buffy is having an emotional crisis, Riley is having an identity crisis, meanwhile Spike is stalking Buffy, breaking into her house, stealing her belongings, and emasculating her boyfriend.
Well, yeah, he's a vampire without a soul 😂
There was an alien episode in season 2 with the eggs! Very forgettable episode, to be fair.
I think it's well executed and has some complexity to it
When the couch totally agrees with your whole take on this episode and the character arcs so far, it makes an OG fan smile.
