  • I've been wearing the RingConn health tracking ring for about 60 days now. It's a surpassingly good value health tracker compared to the other rings on the market.

    Hey! Thanks for the review. I am on the fence of getting a RingConn right now, and this helps.
    Question for you - are you able to upload Strava data to the RingConn app? I know Oura allows it. My goal is to wear a Garmin while lifting weights/exercising and wear the ring at all other times, but I want all the data in one place, preferably the RingConn app.
    Thank you again!

    • @mlegrand
      @mlegrand  5 місяців тому

      Not that I know of. Software is always changing on these things but I haven't seen a way for it to pull in Strava activity data yet. 🤷‍♂️ It's all about finding a unified spot for all of your activity data to get funneled into so you have a comprehensive location for all the data. I keep a watch on for that but understand if the goal is to use the two devices together. 😬

    I have the RingConn as part of the startup phase (since last January) and really like it, the charging case and the non-subscription fee aspect. I really wish I could get meaningful SPO2 and HR data during exercise as I'm trying to track/ monitor these real time as guidance if I need to push a little harder, or when to back off a bit due to my lung IPF diagnosis. Unfortunately, movement seems to severally affect these readings and even spot measurements during an exersize class needs the phone and ring to be quite close in proximity (about 2-3') to initiate a manual reading. Otherwise, a great ring at a great price with a realistic expectation of new features to come 😊.

    • @mlegrand
      @mlegrand  6 місяців тому +2

      Yeah, unfortunately I don’t believe rings are a great form factor for heart rate tracking while exercising. It’s a great device, just maybe not for that purpose. Maybe a cheap heart rate strap would be an option? I made a video talking about a few options a while back.

    • @mfreele1957
      @mfreele1957 6 місяців тому +2

      And for me, even more importantly, the SPO2 to try and understand my lung disease process as it impacts my SPO2 during effort/ excersion. I know wireless exercise compatible finger probes exist, but from what I've seen so far, are quite expensive?

      Personally, I’d be looking for one item to cover all of your goals. I think something from Garmin, like an Epix can handle it. The Apple Watch will also collect these same metrics and do so very accurately. You might want an app like Athlytic to give you more actionable metrics on the Apple Watch.

Bodybattery, stress, training status, Sleeping score, training advices, socialization. it just doesn’t fill me with enough info.

    I'd love an Oura ring, not least because it's a Finnish company and I used to live there (same reason for my affinity for Suunto or Polar). But the subscription fee really puts me off, I wish they'd at least lower the price of the hardware or perhaps used the fee to encourage users to live a more healthy lifestyle (e.g. lowering the fee for next month if you got a good sleep score streak the previous month or something along those lines).

    I refused to sign for a subscription. So I went for an alternative ring for way less. 40€ including blood pressure measurement.
    Note that rings should fit well. And not be loose! And I see yours if rather easy to remove.
    Reliability is mainly dependant on the position of the sensors. Which should detect on the inside of your fingers. Fitting snugly, which with the correct size doesn't differ from finger size. As sensors are exactly the same.
    And as with all reviews, why is nobody talking of, nor has a sports mode for sexual activity? Though I'm sure that many will be having a look at their data after a private session.

      Like walking, MTB or race bike excercise. Maybe I'll consider a Garmin Instinct 2X but only use it of activities instead of daily, or use a ring instead.

      I've been wearing the Garmin Venu 3 for the last few weeks. Nothing bad to say about it. I especially love the ECG and Health Snapshot. The problem is with me. I'm a watch guy and end up wearing a mechanical wrist watch on one arm and the Garmin on the other. This is why I'm looking at a ring alternative to the Garmin. I may wait to get a ring until Samsung releases theirs. I've read that they've applied for ECG approval which would be great as long as it's accurate. @@mlegrand
