I have to admit, welded wings and that battery tray was the main reason why I completely avoided getting an Escort back in the late 90's. I liked how the Montego was constructed and went for that instead. Only realising later that the rear wheel arches rotted like crazy - lol. Interestingly, the Maestro arches didn't rot anywhere near as bad. My first car was a 1.3 Montego with a 5-speed box from a later Maestro. My second car was an early MG1600 Maestro.
Lewis mate your fabrication skills are on another level! Your hand formed panels fit better than most pattern panels! Really wish I lived closer and I’d work for free in exchange for some teaching! You’ve absolutely smashed this one out of the park! Regards. Mark
Congratulations Leane and Lewis on getting to 10,000 subscribers! 😁👍
Super job..... Great ending😂
Outstanding.
Thank you!
Lewis! What a twist! Almost to 10K as well, Congrats! Hopefully Lewis will recover in time to see that roll over. Cheers
We'll prop him up to watch the counter tick over.....not long now! Exciting times!
Definitely needed the Eastenders cliffhanger drums at the end 😂
Excellent finish to an excellent video 👏
Thank you very much!
Loving the gruesome “duff duff” ending 😂👏
Finger's crossed he pulls through to get the Escort out!
Casualty has competition! Impressive work on the ‘Scort!
Oh no. Cliffhanger. Excellent work
Hope Lewis can recover in time for the next instalment! Fingers crossed!
@@WhitelandRestorations oh yes 🤞
"Fab" work Lewis & Mo. 🥁
Thank you very much!
I have a 1988 244 DL.
I really like what you did with your headliner. Thank you for the inspiration. How much of a gap is there between the headliner and the roof at the widest point, and where is this point located? The reason I ask is, I once owned an FJ cruiser, it had tweeters mounted on the back side of the headliner. You could not see them, but you sure could hear them. It gave a whole new experience to music.. I would like to use the same setup on the Volvo if possible. I'm all ears to any ideas you throw my way. And please throw any ideas regarding speakers on the dashboard and on the rear interior sail panels etc.... I'm open to fabrication and modification. I would like to thank you both for thinking outside the box and using your MacGyvering skills to inspire others to step outside their comfort zone.
Top quality job, especially for the ending of the video, when I saw it, for the first second I actually clenched up thinking the worst, so we'll done on adding extra grey to some of us 😂
Looking good now
Thank you very much!
Loving the quality of the work.....
Thank you very much!
What an ending…proper cliff hanger!!
Tune in next time..... this could be serious for the Escort! 😂
Opening scene is EVERY Ford owners future 😂
No way of avoiding that! Gets everyone in the end!
Better close ups brilliant music thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
First class job. Brilliant.
The "spray job" at the end was a bit gruesome, still, not a complete waste of ribena. I feel a whodunnit episode evolving. Where was Mo?? where was the missus?? Will Dick Barton complete the restoration? could the car somehow be involved?
Most entertaining.
Hopefully Lewis recovers enough to get to the bottom of it!
Seems like a nice young bloke, he’s good.
LOL. Jeopardy at the end rather undermined by the victim doing the voiceover 🙂
You mean the victim's ghost....... ooooooh
Excellent use of Uncle Roger and prop death lol
What a giggle!
Phenomenal work again, cant w8 to see this finished😎👍
Hopefully Lewis recovers enough to get it done 😂
Tune in next week for the next exciting episode.
Will Lewis be able to weld?
Will he be able to hold a hammer again!
Great work and great ending! Reminds me of Project Binky but finishing a little more quickly 😂
Binky with less funk 😂
Revenge on Lewis for making 'Scrap man' !
🤣🤣🤣🤣 the special effects are epic in the escort horror movie 😜
No expense spared!
Hi, I’ve been watching this build, I’m interested to know what the tools are you use to hold the panels together just prior to welding ? The ones that push through from one side and appear to clamp the panels in place ? Thanks
Too many blood thinners by the look of that blood!
Better than paint thinners I suppose 😆
Still on the edge of my seat here 😂
I am amazed by the finish when you make a panel cut it in and weld it ,when it's ground out you cannot see the join.
All in the satisfaction of the job..... make it appear like it never happened!
Great job. I wouldn’t like the bill for this repair. Is the rest of the car solid? Loving your care and attention to detail
Thanks for watching!
What you don't see in these type of videos is just how long this type of work takes .Putting the paint on is the quick easy bit
Oh the paint is like the last 10% of the job! Lots of TV shows make it look like it takes 5 minutes and a rub of scotch then bam.....painted
Meny years ago I welded a battery tray in a Mk3, but forgot to move the plastic air pipes from behind the dash. Whoops!
oooh whoops indeed!
What do you do to get all the grinding waste out of the engine compartment, after a weld repair, battery box, on my 86er Fiesta I found grinding waste in the craziest places.
Now that Lewis has had a work accident, Liane will continue the work.😆
Air jets, special secret hoover adaptors and lots of cleaning!
Tough ending but the wife did it no doubt. Hope Lewis makes it otherwise Mr Hubnut could cover you till your back from your headache. Great stuff as always
No offence to Ian but the thought of having hubnut taking over on the welding would bring me back from the dead
Wifey totally told the anvil to jump!
😆
Ford should have named this model the Ford Rustcort and their other big seller the Ford Rustina.
They missed a trick there!
When's the fiesta coming out???¿??????¿?¿????¿?
Soooooooooon 😁
Has Lewis been watching Linus Tech Tips? 😋👍
Not a channel I'm familiar with!
@@WhitelandRestorations Linus is ALWAYS dropping things - especially expensive pieces of technology! 😁

Your going well. But treat yourself to a bit of copper backing , like a standard toe dolly , I promise you will never look back , it will make welding ten times easier , and a lot less cleaning up too.
Thanks for the tips!
@@WhitelandRestorations give it a go , then thank me ,,, promise you will never look back
I dread to watch, but can't pull myself away from the screen.
Phew,no more rot!
You just never know when the rust is going to end! 😆
@@WhitelandRestorations Rusty Steel, it's what the RS stands for!
I swapped my Mk 111 Escort Estate with a friend of mine for a Daihatsu, the Daihatsu needed a new 5th gear which was easily fixed, but he was not happy when he found the Escort was rotten 😂
oh dear oh dear!
Underneath that front scuttle looks a bit crusty Id forgotten how rusty the old MK3 got
It's the corner that just keeps on giving!
OH NO! They killed Lewis!
Oh no! What will happen now? Has the Escort claimed another victim? Has Lewis been defabricated?
He might need a bit of fettling and filler 😂
@@WhitelandRestorations Yeah, not sure that will buff out.
Excelllent workmanship, But:
Remember, Ford took the worst engine in the world, attached it to the worst gearbox in the world, mounted them in the worst bodyshell in the world, and then connected it to the road on the worst suspension in the world.
There are vehicles well worth putting the time and effort into rebuilding them, but the Mark3 Escort is not amongst them.
Amazing work saving a rare car these days defo RS1600I over RS TURBO anyday
Saving rare cars is always a pleasure
Tune in next week to see why Lewis has blackcurrant juice for BLOOD,!!!!!!!!!?
Told him he's been drinking too much of that!
@@WhitelandRestorations 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Head is seriously dented, but nothing a bit of hammer and dolly work cant fix, 🤪
Get him straightened out in no time with a bit of a whack 😆
🤣🤣🤣🤣💯
I think Lewis needs to goto the doctors not because of his accident but the fact he has very watery Robinsons apple & blackcurrent cordial as blood !!! 😳 😱 😆
I've told him so many times that he's drinking too much squash.... now look! 😂
@@WhitelandRestorations you’re car restoration skills are excellent , love the inner wing job on the rs1600 I had to scrap my 1.6gl because of rot in that area back in the day , the car rotted from every seam , British built cars really didn’t survive many British winters
😂😂😂
I'd see a Dr about your blood if I were you 😊
Blood type..... squash 😂
Did Lewis get a row for wetting the floor bum bum bum
So rude just bleeding out everywhere
