- Here's the complete first set of of Jaco and his quintet's gig at the Lone Star Cafe on December the 21st in 1985. I have posted excerpts from this show before but here's the complete first set. It's a very good performance from Jaco and his band and it was Jaco's playing/behaviour during this period that gave many of his friends hope that he'd turn his life around and make a comeback on the level he was at in his prime. As we all know that was not to be but at least these few months resulted in some often exhilarating playing from Jaco which in turn inspired the various groupings of musicians he played with during that time. Band lineup: Jaco Pastorius - bass/vocals, Hiram Bullock - guitar/keyboards/vocals, Kenwood Dennard - drums, Jerry Gonzalez - trumpet/percussion
Set List:
00:00 Ode To Billie Joe
08:35 Bass Intro

Wow! Jaco was indeed the greatest bass player in the world! He said himself. Nowadays there is so many awesome bass players around. Most of them stand on Jaco´s shoulders when it comes to electric bass. jaco4ever!!!!!
Jaco grooves is so flawless and endless that’s the main thing I loved about him 🙏🏾

Beat to death he didn't deserve that
Where was it? Somewhere in Texas? I was talking with Brad Houser one night. He saw Jaco in Dallas sometime in the 80’s.

Jerry Gonzalez made a suprême solo on thé Ornette Coleman track (beetwin Don Cherry & Ornette) ; The Chicken is my favorite version of thar band
I would have liked to meet the gentleman that beat Jocko to death they deserve something it's probably not a handshake though
I'm sure mr. Pistorius enjoyed the color of sound
