    If you want cheaper, and better dumbbells than the short handles, I got rid of my short loadable dumbbell handles for Kensui Adjustabells, they are like $40 for a pair (70lb max weight per handle) or $100 for the upgraded ones (150lb max weight per handle), and they make movements way easier that require clearance. It is basically like having Ironmasters that use olympic plates and are way slower to change weights with, but they can be the same size as fixed dumbbells which makes them way more usable IMO. I don't have a rack, so my barbell is for deadlifts and bent over rows mostly, so I really use my dumbbells more than anything, and despite the low cost these things are an absolute lifesaver.

    • @Livakivi
      @Livakivi  5 місяців тому +1

      For the price they seem like they could be pretty good, esp if its faster to change the weights.

    I also built most of my home gym off Amazon. Try hitting the bottom of the cable assembly (the center rod) with some WD-40/other lubricant. It makes my budget power rack's cables noticeably smoother immediately especially with lower weight for smaller muscle exercises.

    • @Livakivi
      @Livakivi  5 місяців тому

      I thought of doing that, but haven't done it yet because I don't want the cable rod to become oily as I occasionally grab it or bump into it due to the lack of space haha

    Amazon has some underrated gym equipment, but yeah you should get a weight belt soon too as you go up in weight. I got my Gym Reaper belt on there along with a dumbbell loading strap since I don't have any plates.

      With olympic weightlifting shoes, I don't find it that problematic to squat on them. It's still not perfect and I wouldn't host competitions on them, but just for getting the working sets done I'd say its enough for the time being.

      The sound from those plates is *literally* eardrum shattering, I've never experienced anything like it with dozens of different plates in gyms.
      The abrasion sound gets so loud (100db+) when you move them fast that it causes physical pain to ears of people near it, and its not a pleasant or satisfying sound in any way, unlike loading metal plates.
