This is what we meant about movies being mostly not canon (this one being the exception), but they keep dropping this kind of references further down the road.

Many miss it, in Freeza's mental list of heroic lines he counts 419 on a line eerily similar to a line dropped by the species on planet 419 in the Bardock special.
Piccolo hyping himself up was ripped straight from the official dub.
3:15 Goku was also ripped away from his planet at a young age.
In MMO's, a healer still fights sometimes, just focuses on healing more. A white mage, is someone who focuses 100% on healing and buffing teammates, having 0 abilities to combat, but, being so essential that their death, would mean the team would become useless.
White mage is usually the character in fantasy RPGs that can heal others. Like the medic. Vegita offing the white mage would be like cutting of your nose to spite your face

White Mage specifically is a term from Final Fantasy, referring to the magic class that uses primarily healing magic
The aspect of the power level is more a case of Frieza (or spelled "Freeza," one is the English dub spelling and the latter is how it shows up in the Japanese scenes when shown as English) and his mean having sort of "blinders" where it kind of tunnel visions them and makes them underestimate our heroes. So while it CAN be a fun thought experiment to think of what everyone's Power Level is, ultimately Vegeta is right and that they're BS when ultimately it all comes down to how the plot will play out.
Powerlevels were introduced as a way to subvert the villians. Raddiz mesured Piccolo and Goku, assumed he was 3-4 times stronger than them but died because their power varies based on what they do and this was carried through the freeza arc to some degree to solidify that those numbers mean next to nothing and TFS is taking the piss there.
However, the community glomped on to those numbers and obsessed over them. Even Toryama (DB's Author) has said multiple times that they are absolutely meaningless, yet "power scaling" communities exist to this day to mathematically scale every character in Dragonball. By now, those numbers are going into the Trillions, yet they still fail to see the uselessnes.
"Power levels are BS" is kind of the reason the scouters are there in the first place. Throughout the saga, Frieza and his servants rely on the scouters to determine how dangerous their opponents are, and it is almost always to their detriment. Of course, this is because the heroes know how to hide their power level, but it takes so long for Frieza and his crew to adjust to that fact that basically it's only Frieza left by the time they acknowledge it.

Personally, I think the power levels became bullshit the moment Vegeta began to fight Freeza and held his own. What that suggests is that when Goku gave him that senzu bean before fighting the Ginyu Force, Vegeta was then not only much stronger than Goku, but also comparable with first form Freeza. Either that or they think that Vegeta getting hit by Jeice and then having a nap would give him a significant boost. His fight against Freeza should have gone very differently.
I think the zenkai from the senzu bean is what did it, but he couldn't immediately tap into it due to it being such a huge boost. The nap helped to get him more composed and acclimated to his new level.
@@vision-dz6cm That's not how it works any other time in the show. His power from that zenkai gave him enough power to beat Jeice, still receiving a small injury from him due to an attack that we all know would not have hurt Freeza. Then after a nap he is able to stand toe-to-toe with Freeza in his first form. There really is no reason for this boost in power other than Toriyama wanted to make Vegeta that powerful. I think it would have been better for the story and the vision of how terrifying Freeza is supposed to be if they kept Vegeta's power in check and let Freeza remain overwhelmingly powerful to the group.
@genostellar Um, yes it does. All the time, the show talks about characters having to get used to a new level of power. Maybe not specifically zenkai boosts, but with every other zenkai (besides Krillin blasting Vegeta), they had time to rest in-between. Also, Jeice's attack "injuring" Vegeta is quite the stretch. A drop of blood doesn't mean the character is "injured" or that they even really felt it.
@@vision-dz6cm No, Goku had no time to rest between the healing pod and fighting Freeza, nor did Gohan have any time to rest after Dende healed him against Freeza, nor did Vegeta have time to rest really before his second fight with Zarbon. I must also point out that at no other point did it ever show that a zenkai boost takes a while to kick in. That has never been shown to happen other than this one case with Vegeta being injured by Jeice and then having a nap and standing toe-to-toe with Freeza. It's simply a power boost that comes out of nowhere and makes no sense, existing only because Toriyama thought it would look cool for Vegeta to match Freeza. You should be able to understand this.
@genostellar Wow, dude, you just encapsulated the "Dragon Ball fans can't read" meme. "Maybe not specifically zenkai boosts, but with every other zenkai (besides Krillin blasting Vegeta)" It's literally in parenthesis. It is also a roughly 4x boost (going from ~500k to ~2 mil), much smaller than the boost he got from the senzu bean. Like I said, it's not specifically tied to a zenkai, but the fact it was a massive increase.
Let's go through the other ones which "didn't get rest" then.
Goku after the Ginyu stuff- rested in the pod.
Vegeta after being beat by Zarbon- rested in the pod.
Gohan after being healed by Dende- Is this really even a zenkai? We don't really see him get that much stronger, especially not to the extent of Vegeta after Recoome. He goes from having a rage boost and beating up 2nd form Freeza, to having a rage boost and pushing back 3rd form Freeza. Even being generous, that's only a ~2x boost going off Freeza's transformations, not really something he would need to acclimate.
You should be able to understand that it's not the zenkai boost itself that I'm talking about. I'm not saying he got part of the boost first, then the rest after the nap. I'm saying he got the whole boost, but he wasn't able to utilize it all immediately because he wasn't used to the new level of power. The nap simply allowed him to compose and acclimate.
I know how writing works; I'm just giving a reason In-universe. Why are you so upset by it?

The first Bardock special (which you should watch) explains that Freeza likes to name the planets he conquers with numbers because he’s so unoriginal. The number 419 is special because…it’s one off from 420. 🤭

Fun fact: in the original anime Piccolo asked to be sent to Namek. He said they were his people he wanted to defend. Nail was dying so being able to survive in that way is probably better than nothing. While Piccolo got a serious level up. In the original Nail just ceased to exist, but TeamForStar decided to do the voice in the head thing. Which made this a thousand times better in every way shape and form.
Ceased to exist is kind of an odd way to put it. From what I can tell, it's more that they blended their minds, with Piccolo being the dominant one. I'm pretty sure in the dub, when Piccolo arrives at the fight, he taunts Freeza by speaking with Nail's voice about their previous fight.

TFS did a great job on their version of telling the story of Dragon Ball Z. It's honestly my favourite dub of DBZ. If you see a name in the credits of DJ Sexcidillionare it's actually Chris Sabat the voice of Vegeta, Piccolo, and a whole lot of others in the Funamation Dub of DBZ and DBS. He was a huge fan of DBZA.
Season 2 is overall really good. But these next couple episodes are just chef’s kiss. Especially once Goku gets out of… THE POD!

"Freeza Planet 419" is a reference to the DBZA movie "Bardock: Father of Goku," and the rather annoying aliens in it.
You know you can click on the screen to pause the video right? You don't have to specifically click the pause button in the corner, that way you don't have to worry about potentially misclicking on the buttons next to the pause. Just don't click twice or it minimizes the video.

We had Recoome's music (E1M1 from Doom), Vegeta's music (Grand Tour, the theme to Dragon Ball GT), Goku's music (Real American, AKA Hulk Hogan's entry music), and now we have Piccolo's music (Magus's Theme, from the video game "Chrono Trigger", a game Akira Toriyama did art for).
TFS has good taste in music, for the most part (that most of them seem to dislike Country music has me mildly disappointed in them), and several of them them enjoy singing. In particular, Nick "Lanipator" Landis, the voice of Piccolo, Krillin, and Vegeta, among others, has done a cover or two, and even came uo with his own song, "Vegeta, Prince of Outlaws", when he was doing a video for Red Dead Redemption 2 as Vegeta (for some years, he did a segment on their gaming channel called "Renegade for Life", where he would play games in his Vegeta voice and persona. He also did some horror games as Krillin, in a segment eventually known as Senzu Screams. And alongside Curtis "Takahata101" Arnot, they did a segment called "Two Saiyans Play", with Lani as Vegeta and Taka as Nappa.).
They've also done parody songs, which I heavily suggest checking out, just because they're usually pretty funny.
A white mage is the healer in roly playing game teams. No one on the team would attack their healer. The enemy AI would target the white mage.

3:16 Also, all Namekians have names relating to slugs. Lord Slug, (s)Nail, Dende is some anagram of Japanese of snail or something and so on. Just like Saiyans are all named after vegetables, right down to "Saiyan" being rearranged syllables of Japense for "vegetable".
7:03 The monkey thing is basically complete dropped at this point. Toriyama had a habit of outright forgetting his own stuff or abandoning it. Super Saiyan stuck around cause it was created to not have to color the hair black anymore (no, really, that's the actual reason - laziness).

@@CalciumChief Dende is short from dendenmushi, which is snail in Japanese. And stop saying that not coloring hair was lazyness, he wasn't even the one coloring the hairs, his assistants did, he wanted to save time of everyone to meet the schedule.

They didn't know Dende could heal people until he healed Krillin during the Frieza fight and Dende never met Goku. Krillin tells Vegeta when he asks that same question after getting healed that if they knew he could heal they would have had him fix Goku.

Freeza didn't care about killing every Namekian he obviously was toying with Nail, if blowing up everyone in an instance was his nature he wouldn't have done that its obviously not his nature.
Dende healing people isn't a Deus Ex Machina, because it was sort of expected. A Deus Ex Machina is more like Trunks showing up out of nowhere to take care of Frieza and Cold.

no, I know, but I was a little unclear about the exact specifics as to how it worked. Also, what did Nail get out of it. And the amount he improved also sort of shocked me a bit, lol
@@ChicagoReacts what nail gets out of it is that he gets to live longer and help a fellow Namekian against the person who killed and attacked him and his race so why wouldn't he do it.
