I finally bought a pair in the fudge color. I cannot get over how soft and beautiful the crazy horse leather is. And the smell, it’s addicting and definitely scratched an itch for me. After I put some oil on them it darkened them to what, I think is, the perfect color of leather ever seen.
Wait till you buy the green...

Hoping you might be able to get some soles onto the website for sale. I have two pairs of MY FAVORITE African Rangers that I use so hard. I had to resole one pair and used an "available" sole. To be fair it actually looks and works great but I'd prefer to go with original soles :)
Yes! That factory wedge sole should always be available on the site. I was lucky a while back and scored a few extras but I’d much rather have the factory oringo sole than the vibram.
I just bought the oringo and anvil soles off the website, about $20 USD each.
As a South African very proud of this company and love my two pairs of Jim Green shoes

I have 12 pairs of Jim Green boots. 4 of them are Rangers - plain black, plain brown, fudge crazy horse, and the incredible buffalo leather ones. The most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. No break-in required, and when you replace the standard footbed with their leather cushioned one, they are even better. BIG fan of JG...

I have a pair of these and I like them a lot . I have a wide foot a they are a wide shoe and that my favorite thing about them . I also like that they have plenty of room for insoles and I use FP footprint flat insoles in them

Love watching these. When I was a kid I wore leather sole cowboy boots until my socks would get dirty from the holes. Patched them and melted plastic on them to try and make them last.
Those soles were in much better shape than mine when I had my AR’s resoled. That leather needed some attention though! Good to see how it holds up. Can you guys do a vid on a resole with a leather mid sole? Would like to see how the leather mid sole holds up over time.
Did they really need resoling? The larger grooves still seemed to be there
It was starting to separate from the mid sole, if you ignore that, you might ruin the mid sole and be in for a much more costly repair.
I think this was mostly used in the bush or other non-concrete surfaces so the lugs wont wear out as fast, but they nonetheless look very old. Even if the lugs are still present its still better to replace them with fresh rubber.
I had the same impression - did they really need resoling? Now I feel even better with my ARs.
They definitely had more miles to spare but it looks like the user strikes at the ball of their feet rather than their heels. The user was probably feeling a lot less traction.
My rangers soles look much worse. No ridges left. Lol

Can I get mine barefoot rangers resoled with a slip resistent and puncture resistance sole so I can work in these in a machine shop?
Do not really see the need to resole there already but the leather needs some conditioner, not just a little bit ofshoe cream (?).
I believe I’m gonna be the first one in Belarus wearing these when they finally come to me
Can the African Rangers be resoled with other soles from Jim Green? When mine are due for a resole, I'd like to get a sole with a slightly more aggressive tread like what's used on the Baobab as I often use mine for hiking in pretty soft soil.

I think the workers should wear rubber latex gloves when touching someone else’s used shoes/boots. There’s Germs and bacteria and foot odor and not to mention the dirt on the bottom of the soles.
