Enjoyed your double-teaming. Ethan, you mentioned Geoff's having higher partials reinforces him as a bass. I watched a recent chat between Geoff and Peter Barber where Geoff had said that he was a baritone with access to the deep base. Peter told him that he WAS a bass - a particular flavor of bass and gave him arguments for that. Would love both of your to comment on that chat! I remembered that same line from Ford's version "If the right one don't get you then the left one will." It made me wonder if Geoff's a leftie.

Of course I know Jen! I'm subscribed to her channel. She is knowledgeable but also very fun especially when she attempts low bass singers. I'm surprised that she could sit straight through a video because she has a love affair with the pause button. Fun video Ethan!
25:30 I hear more of a d#1 chestfry, but it might be something else. I just thing that he wouldn't go for a fry with such an approachable note for him, like that f#1 is, so I think it's something lower and d# goes perfectly fine as a dominant and make sense.

Agree! Even brought up the virtual piano site and checked it. Geoff's right about what he, himself, sung!!
Like most people I was very impressed with this one when I first heard but frankly it is requested so often that it's been done to death for me. So I tend to be less fond of it that it deserves. Geoff's diction is something I appreciate a lot as I'm older and have tinnitus, the hissing sort, and perhaps slight hearing loss at a certain pitch. So I love that I can normally hear every word from Geoff. I know myself that my voice is a lot lower in the early morning and Geoff has said the same. It was after this one that Geoff first complained about his spaghetti arms, which is ridiculous, but he's been workng out ever since. :) Geoff also took a few liberties with the lyrics in Ghost Riders. Peter Barber has confirmed to Geoff that he is indeed a bass singer. I hope he now accepts it.
This is so NOT how Jen does her analysis … but I like it.
Regarding the left/right lyric change, I've always assumed that since Geoff is a HUGE Barry Carl fan, that Rockapella's version of this song is the one he's most familiar with. Barry sings it the way Geoff does here. Just my 2¢. 🤷🏻♀️

All singing parts are chest voice! There are some background F#1 subharmonics sprinkled in there - but everything else is either full chest, or mixed chest 🙂
