@@fpul There aren't too many features here to talk about; it is a cardioid pickup pattern, which by its nature reduces background noise. That's really it :)
Looks like they improved a bit. I was about to buy the Modmic a while back but I didn't like the sound. I use a set of Sennheiser HD599 with a inexpensive boom mic that locks right in the input port and I think it sounds a bit like this second version of the Mod Mic. What I like about the Modmic is that the boom is more rigid and won't move like the one I have. I had to hack mine a little with a MIG welding stainless wire and shrink wrap to make it more rigid. I might get the Modmic when it dies.
With the mod mic I have it attached to my pico 4. I dance in beat saber and have never had it ever fall off even when I am going wild and hopping across the room. I also have mounts all over the place. All my headsets have a mount and every vr headset. I am so excited for the new version.
Ive been using the modmic wireless since it released. Really happy with it other than the having to charge it every night. Dont know why i got the wireless one when i use wired headphones already lol.
i've been waiting for a usb-c version since it first dropped in like 2018. antlion said in a post on r/headphonemods that they're working on a usb-c model and to "expect some news early-ish next year". that post was 11 months ago.
I'm interested in buying this mic, but the price ( 90 euro's for a small mic ) is kinda prohibitive. For people that used it, would you vouch for your purchase that it's good? Thanks to anyone who replies!
Yeah I agree it is beginning to get a bit steep in price, however, they do last in my experience. I've had my modmic 5 since release (2018) and it functions just the same, and the magnet adhesive hasn't gotten any looser. I think I'll wait a little while longer for a minor discount, then I'd be happier to purchase.
I think you should listen to the samples in the second half of the video. If that kinda quality is important, then yes, it's worth it. I'll also note that I have all the mod mics and they all still work fine. So they are well-made
I preface this with the fact that I do indeed love my ModMic. It's just not USB. I tried going with USB and it failed twice in a row. Usually around a year it dies. First replacement was on warranty. Second time, shame on me for thinking it would be different. I have the standard analog ModMic I bought many years ago, which is so good, it replaced the second failed USB mic. I bought a USB amp to bridge the gap.
SONOFA.....I just bought the Mod Mic USB 1, and it must've been before they released any news about this one, and right before the release too 😟. I already notice a difference within the first 5secs. when the video transitioned over to the v1.
they both bother me. the first setting is like a super hi pitch squill that you can't hear and the second is like a haunting. so the first is up in decibels and the second is down in decibels. or its just the way my speaker pick up on the videos. sorry. the voice sounds fine i liked the second one more.
The old one sounds slightly muffled and has less treble than the new one. The new one definitely sounds better, and quite good in general. Should sound very good with some EQ. The new microphone is certainly a step up and it's stupid that it's not been made available to the wireless version, who would want that now?

The cable for my ModMic USB 1 just broke. perfect timing to buy the usb 2!

Go get your nails done by a professional and get a dip powder. It'll last for 3+ weeks and look and feel much nicer.
