Ive been watching your reviews for many many years now and i just wanted to say i really believe you have improved as a reviewer and you strive to become better and better. Great video! :)
Damn I didn't expect an external mic to pick up so much game noise from an open back headphone, you might be the first reviewer I've seen to showcase that.
The modmic sounds surprisingly good. After your tests, I do think it sounds better being on the side of your mouth. When you placed it right infront, although it was louder, it has drastically more distortion. But I can't help but think having a dedicated desk or mounted mic is going to be better
My main setup is Sennheiser Hd560S, Uni 2, and Soundblaster GC7 amp/dac. Best bang for the buck in my opinion. GC7 has giant controls for volume, mic, and chat mix - it’s glorious for gaming. Absolutely could spend more money, just not sure if the benefit would be commensurate with the cost. P.S. I didn’t hear a lot of difference between the Uni and USB - they both sounded great to me!
As a long time Modmic user, you CAN adjust the length. You’ll notice there is about 3 inches of mic length after the magnet. Unscrew the cap of the magnet on the mic and you can slide that length forward.
I have the original R70x for 6 months, I absolutely love the sound. The comfort is next level and great for reducing hair issues . The head clamps are still holding up just fine btw
@@TheTechne ya I was worried too a few times but they been all good all these months. also I think audiotechnica sells replacements if you need it so not end
I had a setup like this when the first modmic launched and it was always a hassle with the extra cable, even the wireless feels odd because it's like 200g extra and that only on one side of the headphone. Now i use a cheap 35$ Fifine mic and headphones which where the mic sounds pretty much perfect for day to day use
So you see where the mic attaches to the mount? That entire length is bendable. So just unbend that and move it foward on the mount and it will reach to be in front of your mouth.
please tell me. My endgame gear xm1 mouse got a short circuit. I installed the wrong wire. The standard cable has 5 contacts, I installed another one with 4 contacts with interference protection. he probably got a short circuit. Now her board gets very hot and the cursor does not display. is it possible to fix this😮
I'm still waiting on an updated version of the wireless modmic with a usb-c port. T, in your opinion, which open-back headset is the best I terms of sound quality, the Turtle Beach Air Atlas, the Corsair Virtuoso Pro, or this Apox x Audio-Technica?
@@An_Enraged_Pig What didn't you like about the Corsair? I had the Beyerdynamic DT700 years ago for music listening. I liked the sound, except that there was no separation or depth.
Nah bro, you’re wrong with your positioning idea. It should be on the side and definitely not in front. Nobody wants to hear someone’s breathing and plosives. The razed mic sounds so much less clear compared to the mod mic, which more closely sounds like your wave 3.
ATH-R70X Refine is US/Canada only ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I already have a ATH-ADX5000 and ATH-AP2000Ti anyway. Audio Technica makes good headphones but people should stop looking at the M50X and look at their A-series, AD-series and R-series of headphones. M50X is so overrated when the A900Z and R70X exists.
While the deeper voice (when it's right in front of your mouth) sounds more natural, I consider it more distracting. In some teams/games people are talking constantly. It's easier to selectively listen, when the voices are more in the (high)mid range
Don't believe this guy he's a used car salesman I bought wicked cushions for my headset because of him and I hate them they're not stinking cozy the sound is horrible I could have bought factory replacements for half the price and they took over a month to receive

thank you so much 👊

exactly what i was thinking and honestly something ive never put to much thought into...but wow lol

yeah I agree
Discord should do a good job at cancelling all that game noise. My buddy uses a similar setup and I never hear his game.

Love music and Use M50X ? I guess for nostalgic reasons.

This is the way. I went through the same thing and with a good arm, you can lock your mic in place where it sounds best and you can still eat snacks.
i cant be the only one who thought it was a dummy in the thumbnail at a glance
still have my H6Pro, absolute enough for everything.
Great video man. hope you are doing well!
The V-Moda Boompro microphone attachment also sounds very good. Doesn't work with every headset though.
Keep up the awesome work!!!

Techne what about a video for dudes with bigger heads? I think most of the gaming headsets are made for kids/teenagers
I've got a fairly big head I reckon. Wearing the Sennheiser x Drop PC38X feels like wearing a cloud to me.
I would have to round up some big headed folks lol
modmic on a full open back hurts my audiophile feelings lol
Oh god man I love you and your videos but holy shit 😭 3 fucking cables going down my neck and I hate wires to begin with lmaooooo
Would you take these over the dt pro 900 X or audeze Maxwell?
From I don't like Open backs all these years to Get these R70x 😂 ... By the way I agree they are amazing didn't need any pushing from Audio Technica.
lol, I like open back, but I don't main them and never will, and I think the over hype of them for FPS is overkill.

to many cables....
agree
Elgate Wave 3 > Mod Mic USB 2 > Razer BlackShark V2 Pro > Mod Mic Uni 2 (clearer than Razer but noisier).
What game is this at 9:50?
The First Descendant . Its boring game

I had the Corsair and didn’t like them, my brother had the dt 990 pro and they sound good. I want to look at the dt 900 pro x
@@An_Enraged_Pig What didn't you like about the Corsair? I had the Beyerdynamic DT700 years ago for music listening. I liked the sound, except that there was no separation or depth.
Modmic 4.0 was the best version followed by the modmic 5.0. Its hard to judge from a video but these dont sound as good as the previous 2 versions.

No. It's a limited run and half were sent to reviewers😂
I haven't seen a modmic in years.

The plosives become really bad when you have it in front of your mouth like that
Has anyone tried the modmic wireless? I can't stand wired headsets.
No cable 4 me ever wireless
Come on man, you don't like guitar solo's?!

The Wing headband type of this has serious problems , read forum's... But the Headphones are my top 5 headphones ever.
