    The fact that i assumed this video was about a woman that had been raped quite horribly disgusts me, thank you for putting yourself out there and letting people know that boys and men can be victims of sexual harassment as well.

    "why didnt you fight back?" "why didnt you leave?" "well you were drunk, so..." "why didnt you call the cops?" "weren't you guys dating though?" "Well he's my friend." "You just want attention." I love the victim shaming I have received. I have been raped, sexually assaulted, and molested multiple times now. starting at the age of 3. Last time I went to the police nothing happened. My biggest question is WHY.

    No survivor should ever be told "Why didn't you fight back?". Sometimes you fight back by crying, sometimes by hitting, sometimes by imagining that you're somewhere else and sometimes by just surviving, and sometimes you can't fight back, but that doesn't mean it isn't still wrong and not your fault.
    Asking someone why they didn't fight back is like asking a robbery victim why they owned a car. Or why their alarm didn't go off. It's like asking a corpse why they didn't stop their murder. Why are we talking to the survivors about what they should have done? It is the world that had failed. The world failed to produce good people who don't do terrible things. Do not blame the attacked. The world has failed.

    My own brother was rapped at 14. Our family was new to the area....he was a freshman at the time. He became friends with a senior that I rather not enclose his name to the public. He had gone over to his house that day. The snoot asked my brother asked "Ever had sex with girls" He replied no. He pulled down his pants and that were it all happened. My brother locked his doors. Didn't come out for days. He began to skip school. Finally he told someone(my father), my father at the time didn't believe him. He thought it was just a prank. He told mom and finally she listened. She called the cops and searched up his name. Comes to find out he had done this before. He's now in jail for raping over 12 boys. Keep in mind my brother was just a little over 100 pounds at the time. He couldn't fight back. It's sad that people don't believe in men being sexually harassed

He's sharing his experience that unfortunately many people can relate to, what's wrong with him making this video? Why do people feel the need to make fun of him for something he obviously didn't ask for? People make me fucking sick.

    It makes me sad when people make fun of men who have suffered from sexual harassment. Society says that men who can't defend themselves are weak, which is wrong. Many people don't stop to think about what kind of situation they may have been in and instead jump to using gender stereotypes. It's disgusting.

      If you're an adult you should be capable of saying at least "stop" unless someone is threatening or doing something really shocking (like randomly attacking you on the street) tho.
      There's a reason adults can consent and children can't. Part of that is a certain expectation of capability.

    The man that raped me 6 years ago, I see him all the time at the grocery store with his wife and 2 kids. When he saw me, he smiled like he had never seen me, like the way a person smiles kindly at a stranger passing by. It makes me feel sick at my stomach to see that smile. He shouldn't smile, no one like that should be able to smile. I've been able to deal with what happened but every time I see him, living a 'normal' life, I go right back to that place in my life and have to start the process all over. It's hard, but it's life.

    I hate when people act like men can't be raped by other men or females. It happens, some women can overpower a man. Some men can overpower another man. JUST BECAUSE IT HAPPENS DOESN'T MEAN THEY DID NOT FIGHT.
    As a feminist, equality is important for me. So people need to wake up and start seeing that men can go through the same thing women go through. And it's not less painful, not less true just because they are male.

      What impact he's attempting to brush by. I agree with you, and the amount of people sharing their stories in the comment section. and being told we're lying? People are sharing their stories because they feel they can, especially with a poem like this. it makes them feel less lonely, and they /can/ face it.
      so thank you for commenting this.

He wanted forgiveness for himself, never considering my feelings. He was a foreign exchange student and waited until he was back home too, so he knew he could no longer be prosecuted.

    the people making those comments don't realize how sexist it is. some people may ask a woman why they didn't fight back, but asking that question in general seems insensitive. fear is fear and some people are so paralyzed to be in that situation. no one thinks about their gender when they are in the moment of something like that. if anything, men must be treated equally and understood just like women. i don't think we should pity either gender because they didn't fight. but if they fight back, then i salute you. if you didn't, then i comfort you and i hope that you are doing well now from such an experience.

You can´t judge him because you have no idea how he felt at the time or what happened. He is trying to show you that men can be vulnerable and that they can be abused and that society ignores it... If you disagree then you are honestly just contributing to the social stereotype that men have to be a certain way or else they are not men, and this just produced more rapists.

If they don't believe you, which they might not because the legal system is fucked when it comes to sexual assault, get out of there, get away from him. He lives next door? Move, possibly with your boyfriend, or a friend, or if you can afford it a place for yourself. If you still live with your parents tell them what's going on, and I'm sure they'll move. This is why we need gender equality, NOT just feminism but equality. you can argue that feminism is for equality of both genders, and yes i am informed of every feminist theory as i take college level courses on that exact subject. I'm not stupid. this is the evidence of gender inequality. Men are forced to thinking they must stay silent, that to be masculine is to be quiet. it is disgusting. Men should and do have a voice. as a society we must except men's voices, feelings and fears. they are just as real as a woman's.

      that depends on what sect of feminism you are. if you're a cultural feminist you worry about women in other countries, if you're a radical feminist you are angry at men for mistreatment and inequality of women, and so on and so forth. but most feminists tend to over look men. They have one agenda in mind and that is to help women. while they claim to believe in gender equality they only fight for and talk about womens issues.

      She shouldn't have to forgive herself for not fighting back. It wasn't her fault but that useless trash of a human being. I'll tell on him right in front of everyone with him sitting there and attacked him. That'll get them believing it, especially if you are usually to yourself.

    • @castingThoron
      @castingThoron 6 років тому +5

      Cat person There are people who blame themself for not fighting back though, I blamed myself because at the time I thought I could have fought back against my uncle. I even blamed it on my female body and hated it for being so weak against the male body. Your right about it not being our fault, and that's what I'm saying that we need forgive ourselves for. We need to realize it isn't our fault and that guilt is just a side effect that victims suffer through. Fortunately you might have the courage to tell on a abuser, but in my case, it was extremely hard to tell on my uncle because I thought people might call me a liar and also everybody loved him. What's important is that we have to move past this and not let it affect our daily lives, whether it being realizing it wasn't our fault at all or having to forgive ourselves like in my case.

    I'm a male and I'm not afraid to admit that I was sexually assulted.
    There are many stigma that concern this sentence. Society today helps to propagate this stigma rather than suppresing it. Male are expected to behave in a way that I personally felt too inhumane. This can't continue no longer. No matter a person's gender, religion, race or affliction, when they were sexually assulted, it signals the fall of humanity and its core value. So, don't easily put judgement on that person's misfortune as sexual assult are also on you.

      MrDamakable I agree. The way society expects to raise boys it's no wonder they often turn into monsters. If some parents deny them the right to feel and show emotions, we dehumanise a large part of the society. I believe if that one thing changed the world could really be a significantly better place. Not only for the victims of men's violence but for the men themselves as well.

    Reading the comments are just so sickening. People think this is funny or a joke or not a big deal. Once something like this happens to you, or you are sexually assaulted; comment what you think then. It's not okay and it's stick with you forever, the littlest things make you think of it. It may seem like any other thing to some, but it's not. It hurts.

    So good of you to make this video. As a woman I always wondered how many men have been sexually assaulted. Media and culture never talk about this but that doesn't mean it never happens. I can imagine it being hard for men to talk about it when everyone behaves as if it is uncommon. As a man you must feel super weird and ashamed (even though it's never your fault) because it might feel as if you got no one to talk to about this. I hope all those men out there who think of suicide are going to seek help. Never be ashamed. It was not your fault.

      misswhyaname more men are raped then women in the u.s....but of course no one ever tells that story because society doesn't care about men.

      I do care but even though it sounds weird we women don't expect a men to be easily raped since men are stronger then women for most of the time so that's a woman's reference point to think from. We care but we need to change the way we think and from there on we can make a change.

    • @schooldude1000
      @schooldude1000 9 років тому +17

      TheLuckySaGe Actually, The National Crime Victimization Suvrey from 2014, concluded that 38% of sexual assaults are against men, but that doesn't mean there isn't more. Many men don't tell people when they've been raped, due to the social stigma behind male victims. However, that doesn't mean no one cares about men, it just means we need to work harder, to lose that horrible stigma. All sexual assault victims, both men and women, are not treated well in America, and we need to work as a society to make things better.

    • @misswhyaname
      @misswhyaname 9 років тому +3

      ***** I totally agree with you and I have to say since I'm from outside the U.S. is that I think this is a universal problem. We are all so indoctrinated with 'normal' male and female behavior. A woman seduces men and a man is a macho and an agressor. Reality is that there are all kinds of people and not every man is agressive and those are also the men that can be an easy target to rapists. These predators (whether your male or female) choose someone who is quiet or anxious since these victims will less likely talk about what happened to them. We have to take people who had this happened to them very seriously when they decide to talk about the event. I do think it's harder for men to get believed by someone they want to confide in. Whether it's police or a thrust person in their own enviroment. Never consider an assault a joke!
      Maybe someone whose famous comes out about this problem and starts a (twitter hashtag) campaign or something. Hopefully men will feel less ashamed.

    • @tekobari
      @tekobari 9 років тому +16

      +misswhyaname What people don't talk about, because they don't give two shits, is that most rapes of men occur in our lovely criminal justice system - prisons - where no one, and I mean NO ONE, will help you. The guards just let it happen. It's not only a frequent or daily occurrence, it's one that people on the outside joke about and wish on prisoners. Haven't we seen enough innocent men go to prison yet? And even if they're not innocent, what on earth does raping someone have to do with selling weed? Why would we celebrate this? And it's mostly men who are gleefully joking about some prisoner being raped, like he "deserved" it.
      No wonder people come out ten times worse than they were when they went in.

    Whenever he starts to speak fast I start to think that he's rapping, side from that, he's right if a man gets raped from another man people automatically assume that, that man can fight back and not get raped, that's different, some men are tougher than others, and when he said people don't run for a crying little boy (or something like that) it's true, boys/men are supposed to be thought but some aren't and many people don't see it that way, when a women gets raped, everyone and I mean EVERYONE talks about it and starts to protest and stuff but when have you ever seen a protest, a riot, an article or a man say they've been raped, it doesn't work like that... What I'm trying to say is we're all human, we all are different, some people can defend themselves and some can't. This man who was talking, he was raped by a man 3x the size of him, you really think he could've defended himself in an ally way where he can't cry for help?
    This world needs to change...

    When they say 'why didn't you fight back?'
    You try we drugged to the point you can't move, stripped bare, bound to a bed and raped. You're in a locked room, no windows only a bed, him, you and a ceiling light thats off.
    Once it's done you are knocked unconscious only to wake up in a cold dark alley, covered in bruises, in a pool of your own blood, scared, feel so much self disgust, you're crying and you're only in HIS shirt.
    How could you fight back.
    The constant flash backs that hit you so hard they feel like you're reliving it over and over and over again.
    You cry yourself to sleep each and every night.
    You try to get help but no one seems to care.
    You tell your family what happened and all they can say is 'Be strong, you'll get through it'
    The worst part is when you see them living a happy life like nothing happened, like what they did didn't actually happen at all.
    YES IT DID!!!!
    If people treated this stuff like they're supposed to it might not happen as often as it does.
    What people don't realize is that it can happen to anyone no matter what race, gender or sexuality you are, it can happen to you.
    And you can't prepare yourself it it does.

    People of the internet, join me in the hunt. The hunt for the wolf. The monster that fucked up this guy's life. That causes him to tell himself everyday that he loves himself because the wolf stole that part of him. People of the internet, we need to find this wolf and let his identity be known. We need to spread his information everywhere. We need people to recognize him on the street and show him the shame that monsters like him deserve. We need those 3 mutual friends to see what this wolf really is and to side with the victim. We need to ruin this monster's life. He needs justice. I mean no physical harm, just humane justice.

It really kills me to hear all these people whom have experienced, say that the didn't fight back. It's good news to many people who went through this to hear from the ones who suffered, but it's after those many, many odd years of imprisonment in their thoughts....and it's all because of their own 'wolfs'.
