Murray River Floods 2023 / Part Seven - Walker Flat to Murray Bridge to Blanchetown

  • In Part Seven we take a look at the Murray River between Walker Flat and Murray Bridge looking from the Adelaide side of the river before traveling along the Sydney Melbourne side to view the river from Murray Bridge to Blanchetown. With some of the river reaching it’s peak water flows, there are now some road closures that prevent people from getting too close to many viewing areas, thankfully we have our drone.

    Thank you both for this great coverage of these terrible floods, without people like yourselves we would be ignorant to the devastation. Maybe our news outlets should be doing something similar. Look forward to getting our caravan up there later in the share to give our support. Thanks again to you both.

    Love this video. My dad owned a shack at bow hill, my brother went up there recently to check it out. I remember lots of floods, but nothing like this one. My uncle reminisced during 1974 floods )I was born '72) they had to park the cars on the road, because their usual parking space was flooded. Our shack was in the back lot not on the river itself. liked and shared to my twitter feed.

    We hope to travel back to Mannum soon (to get some 'yesterday's finger buns' from the bakery - yum and cheap!), Murray Bridge and also to the mouth.

    Hello & Thank you for this comprehensive video of the Floods! I was born in Murray Bridge back in 1973 and while growing up my father took me fishing, duck shooting etc along the Murray River.. I used to steer the boat whilst dad would shoot the ducks (taboo theses days) Long Island was always filled with Ducks. Back then you were able to put nets into the river too! My dad has passed now, but watching this brought back such happy memories! Thank you again guys!

    Wonderful to see Nature at work and many places will have lush growth soon.
    In past 50 years have any flood canals been built to divert flood or high water to places suffering severe drought and reduce water going to towns further downstream?

    • @justcruisinwithmicksally837
      @justcruisinwithmicksally837  Рік тому +1

      It will do the river system so much good as well as the surrounding land.
      There have been no flood canals built that I am aware of. The magnitude of water in this flood event would be hard to control or divert no matter what was put in place. It is very hard to fight and try to control mother nature.

    Great footage of the river by drone. Yes the Murray can flood but also be low in droughts. My father lived near the Murray in his early years and swan across it regularly when he was young.
    He was an incredibly strong swimmer and was used to the strong currents. The weather around the river is now starting to get really hot so the levels should start reducing soon.
    Happy travels.

    Thanks for all the info on the floods around the Murray, just wondering if you would like a trip to Wellington. I know the ferry is closed and the west side is pretty safe but the east side is very flat and with the height of the Murray now, how far the water has gone to the East. would love to know if the Wellington pub and Caravan Park are or will be safe. I have stayed at the pub many times and used the ferry so many times, I cannot remember. I do know it is a far hike so it is ok if you cannot do it. Thanks

    Maybe all land owners should rebuild their houses so when the next flood happens they just float on the water and not lose their house and contents. Taking a proactive approach to flooding. It would save thousands of dollars.

    Bonsoir cher Mick. Tout d'abord 2 choses, la première est de te souhaiter une bonne année 2023 (ainsi qu'à ta famille) et la seconde, de te présenter des excuses, cela fait plusieurs semaines que je n'ai pas consulté tes sublimes vidéos que j'apprécie tant. Ce reportage m'impressionne, je ne savais pas qu'il y a avait eu des inondations en Australie (enfin, dans ce secteur géographique). Est-ce habituel? La pluie est-elle tombée abondamment ces derniers jours? Merci donc pour ces belles images filmées comme un professionnel, bravo. Cependant, je ne peux pas m'empêcher d'éprouver de la tristesse pour les malheureuses personnes ayant perdu des biens aux valeurs inestimables. Merci encore, à bientôt et bon courage chers amis Australiens dans la peine.

      Thank you and a happy hew yer to you. These flood waters have come from many kilometres away inter state, just taken weeks for all of the water to arrive here in south Australia. The flooding that Australia is having over the last 12 months is far greater than what would would normally expect to see. Take care my friend and look after yourself.
