I'm 28 and I definitely prefer physical buttons over the modern touchscreen "solutions". It's no good telling us not to use our smartphones while we drive, but then they go and put a giant touchscreen in the car. How is that a safer solution? Great review as always Thomas.
@@autogefuehl Agree with the comments. I am also in my late 20s and definitely prefer all of essential buttons as physical buttons. The thought of having to look down to visually see if I have pressed the button or not bothers me a little bit. The new Camry nailed this concept: all essential functions are physical, one giant touch screen for application side. Just not in a sexy layout as the BMW.
Honestly changing temp on display doesn't bother me (although I agree with Thomas 100%), but the real dealbreaker is losing 1-8 button shortcuts, they are just soo usefull!
changing the temperature via a screen is fine, you only do that once every season anyway, and then leave it on auto. Things like the fan speed however are more frequently changed, so I think it would be best if those were easily accessible while the temp remains digital
Hi Autogefühl! I’m 26 and definitely prefer buttons. I have two e46 models and it’s definitely safer to just press a given button for AC or to warm your feet. Imagine doing 180 on the highway, or going through slow traffic and needing to navigate menus to toggle AC! Crazy the time you spend not looking at the road!
29 minutes and I still wanted more. That's how you know that the content is great. Kept me engaged and delivered authentic enjoyable content. Thanks for the review Thomas and please keep up the phenomenal work.🔥
Well done Thomas! Your reviews are always fantastic and insightful. I appreciate the comparisons between features, models, and other brands. I believe you are the best car reviewer on the Internet. The combination of your enthusiasm and humbleness is perfect. I look forward to your reviews and value your opinions. Thank you for your continued efforts! Oh, and yes, it was a nice car too 😊
3er driver here. I don't like the LCI display. I will miss dashboard roof. It gives it a more intimate, more driving oriented feel. Feels way more comfortable and 'cockpitish'. This is .. meh. Uninspired. The legacy with dashboards is rich with BMW. Sad to see it end. F series in 3 or x5 f.e. had it very well captured. Pre LCI was great in building cockpit and not a 'public transport seat'.
Also Since replacing my worn tires this past two weeks .I went from the Bridgestone run flat to P ZERO RUN FLAT (PZ4) and the ride is smoother and more responsive
Audi pull ahead when it comes to styling and tech, but BMW offer a smoother, sportier driving experience. Both brands rank highly when it comes to safety features, but Audi has poorer reliability ratings by a margin.
A great facelift! My issue with the first version of the G20 was the indentation below the headlights. Glad to see that’s gone now in the new iteration.
The all touch screen approach is unfortunate. But it's probably the best built in the segment. Mercedes was on the right track when it released the side by side screen design many years ago with a thin row of climate buttons integrated nicely into the design of the dash like the W222 S Class. Now everyone has gone stupid.
I’m 27 and definitely prefer physical buttons and knobs! Also dislike the curved screen even though the graphics look better - it looks out of place to me. I think the cars from 2-5 years ago were the best mix of new and old tech - useful screens with smartphone mirroring etc but the interface still feels like a car not a phone / tablet. I guess I’m getting old 😂
Thomas is right in that it’s a question of what you want. The Merc and the Audi are going to be quieter and smoother and with more razzle dazzle the cabin. The Alfa is very high strung and visceral. But as a 2022 330i driver I can tell you that with the adaptive suspension you really get both things when you want them. The 3 can be very sedate and mature but a press of the Sport button makes it a much more aggressive, almost aggro car.
I love it how Thomas uses a tape measure for the boot every other reviewer do suitcases and talk about litres I don’t know litres but I know I can easily get a tape measure and get a good idea of the space
I own the 2023 and it’s a fun drive! Always. Really sturdy car. So much better than my s3 in terms of sturdy feel. I love the smaller 18 inch rims because they run so much smoother and are way more quiet. Huge trunk.. I put the bimmertech amp in so the base radio speakers run much better. It’s just a well made car!
I became a Bimmer in 2013 after 4 different Audis. Loved my former 320/520: even more my current 5er X-Drive M Sport. These M-Sport Pro exteriors look even nicer but I’m completely against these new standalone touchscreens. Should I list a minus on my 5er I’d point at the current dashboard graphics (2016 LCI 7.0 release). These graphics to me are even more appalling, not to mention we have lost those iconic handy controls so user friendly to navigate. If this screen is what we should expect in the new 2023 5er I’m glad I’ve extended the current lease contract until late 2024. Top notch review, video and audio, as usual Thomas! The most professional to watch and the 30 minutes best spent in my day.
I am 28 and I prefer buttons. whether it's an old car or new car, I need buttons, at least for climate and volume controls. the toys and settings can be in the screen.
I tend to disagree. I have a 2022 BMW M340i rear wheel drive and the steering in the G20 is very good. I like how on Center it has more of a relaxed feel and as you provide more input/turning towards the left or right the ratio increases, In sport mode there is more resistance and feels pretty natural and gives me a good sense of what;'s going on under the tires. As far as M-Sports suspension in my 2022 M340i at first it does feel very bumpy, however you tend to realize the more you drive it that it is firm but it is never harsh. I find it very acceptable for this type of 3-series.
I agree with you. Thomas is not a big fan of sporty rides that’s why he always says he prefers Audi’s suspension. But the electronic dampers in the G20 M sport suspension are very good for anyone who wants to feel “connnected”to the road and have a sharper response from the chassis
yeah as I said I always try to point out like "so if you prefer xyz, then you re better of with this or that vehicle; and besides that, my personal preference would be abc" so everyone can decide on his/her own after my verdict/hints
@@autogefuehl I do love your reviews and I do think you're very thorough in the details and 95% of the time I am in very much in agreement with you. Keep up the excellent job.

Your review is perfectly timed. I've been looking for a new car and the upgrades for the 3 series look excellent. Younger generations are used to using Alexa and Siri and touchscreens. I especially like your opinions between Audi, BMW, and Mercedes. I've been told that Audi gives a posh ride quality. Thank you for the great work all of you do at Autogefuhl!
Hi Thomas, great video as always! I had to rent a car recently where I wasn't sure if my snowboard fits in the trunk with the seats down. However I knew exactly where I could find that info 😉. Keep it up!
Hey, I am 39) and I prefer the manual buttons and climate unit! (that’s why I am happy with mine 2022 A4 45 tfsi Avant) Thank you Thomas for your review! Love it! Alex
I think you make the best reviews, very informative and especially your attention for the steering! I hate the 5 degrees left and right steering on my G20, the deadpoint or misplaced resistance you also experienced in your G20 review is really annoying. Have you heard anything from BMW themselves about that issue, because it is well known now.
The start of this video reminded me of the first video of yours I ever watched, the 992 Turbo S, i think you had on the same toque and it was maybe filmed in the same spot in the woods..? Anyway, I'm 47 and I really don't like having everything as one big screen. I much prefer a central drivers focused area with real dials for revs and speed etc, and then a separate screen to the right with the less important information. And the essential controls like climate and sound should always be real buttons because you don't need to take your eyes off the road to use them, it's just common sense. Anyway, I love your videos Thomas, especially of the sporty cars like this
I’m 37 and I’ve always had knobs. This will be my first luxury car of this class. I am ok with everything on screen. I’m more technical and it looks more modern to me. No knobs for me.
29, do prefer buttons and dials, but I guess I am now starting to learn how to live with the screens because... well seems like there's no choice if you want something somewhat modern.
Another great video Autogefuhl. I’m 56 and I prefer buttons for climate control. I also love the preset buttons as well which they also took away. I have a 2021 330i and absolutely love it. Came from a 2019 Audi A5 Sportback. Love the BMW better. Cheers!!
😲 WOW ... Thomas, this must be a new BMW bodywork design team or new design philosophy by BMW ... ❤Love the design ... BMW must be watching your reviews ... Thank you Thomas / BMW
Hi Thomas, at least this new model does not have that hideous Bugs Bunny grill! It looks ok and I'm sure it drives very nicely. Not a bad sedan, but nothing I would lust over.
Just picked up the A4 45tfsi, I do like the 3 series as well, but now I prefer the A4 more 🤷♂️ both are amazing cars and you can’t go wrong with neither of them!
I've had my 2023 330e xDrive for a few weeks now and it's very nice. I find it strange though that the Driver Assistant Pro is unavailable in the US models unless you get the M340i. :/
I hate the huge screen and being a germaphobic I still use the dial because I hate smudges and fingerprints on the screen . I am a driver and the drive is more important than having a big screen. Also the reason I switched from the C300. I hated the electronic shifter on the steering column . So I love my shifter and I drove this car and my Laser Lights are still brighter than these new LED lights .Also I love my 2021 330i loaded with parking assist and active cruise control that is still missing from the current model. So I am keeping my car and wait for the complete remodel in 2026 .It is nice ,but not my tase .Also with todays interest rates over 5% it does not make sense to buy a new car .I pay 546.00 a month and if I were to buy the 2023 330i it would cost me about $946.00 a month .
I agree with most of these comments. The traditional gear shift lever is far better than the new setup and allows the driver to manually change gears if you can’t use the steering wheel paddles, which is often the case when twirling the wheel.
Great review, but I also love when Germans speak in English. The translation and elocution and messaging is so precise. None of the filler words native speakers put in there.
I’m 24 and I drive a Honda Accord which has physical buttons for climate control and I wouldn’t want the touchscreen buttons. My dad has a Jeep Compass in which climate control can be controlled via the touchscreen or a dial and I prefer the dial over the touchscreen. I feel I am more focused on the road while using the dial over the touchscreen.
Hi Autogefühl! I am 23 and used both types of climate control. I prefer the manual controls. You can change the settings easier while driving because you get a sense of feedback from the dials ( less time looking away from the road ).
I got my friends Land Rover for a ride to the market , and it is full screen , it took a while to find the air sync function on the menus !! Where is ergonomics?

The C class looks exactly the same as a CLA and pretty much every other current mercedes model

I am 57 and about to order G21. Occasionally, I am wondering if I am too old to get such a sporty car. Glad to know that I am not alone...😄
😲 WOW ... Thomas, this must be a new BMW bodywork design team or new design philosophy by BMW ... ❤Love the design ... BMW must be watching your reviews ... Thank you Thomas / BMW
🙌🙌
this red is just stunning , 3 series all the way !
Very good job Thomas !
Hi Thomas, at least this new model does not have that hideous Bugs Bunny grill! It looks ok and I'm sure it drives very nicely. Not a bad sedan, but nothing I would lust over.
😅
Nice video! 24 and I definitely prefer the buttons than a full screen
👍👍
Love your reviews, thank you.
Thanks please recommend!
Cool car, very fancy and high quality. But the driving experience can never achieve the masterfulness of the Giulia.
Which one you love so much this or mercedes c300???
This is how to LCI an already brilliant car!
Why no manual?. I bought the 11th gen honda si.
6:41 you say that you have a 3 vs 5 series comparison - where is it? Not able to find it.
It is coming up! Decided to drop this one here before. We ll air that very interesting piece very soon
Thanks. Waiting eagerly :)
Just picked up the A4 45tfsi, I do like the 3 series as well, but now I prefer the A4 more 🤷♂️ both are amazing cars and you can’t go wrong with neither of them!
I do hate that Audi doesn’t color match the mmi car color to the real one… 🤦♂️ such an easy fix
Enjoy!
entry level 3 Series. ❤
Seems my BMW days are over.
I constantly use the 8 preset Buttons and they removed it. Great Job you Saubazis :-/
Im 62 and the 330i overall in maxxed out base model is impressive! (U.S. version)
Which camera do you use ?
Love your video and the car looks nice!
cheers keep tuning in !
Nice review. Those digital instruments they all look the same… but overall I like that car.
I've had my 2023 330e xDrive for a few weeks now and it's very nice. I find it strange though that the Driver Assistant Pro is unavailable in the US models unless you get the M340i. :/
I am 29, own a 2020 330i, much prefer the buttons. I love tech, but climate control buttons are essential.
🤗
Thanks for the feedback!
I agree with most of these comments. The traditional gear shift lever is far better than the new setup and allows the driver to manually change gears if you can’t use the steering wheel paddles, which is often the case when twirling the wheel.
Love the new screen, but I still prefer mechanical buttons for temperature and volume adjustment, it's just easier, safer and more precise
Just learnt something new while watching a car review. Keep it up 👌👌👌
🙌🙌🙌
Great review, but I also love when Germans speak in English. The translation and elocution and messaging is so precise. None of the filler words native speakers put in there.
shiny black interior surfaces always get tons of micro scratches, i can't imagine how bad it will be on the front bumper....
THE INTRO IS BACK!! And in 4k :)
=)
finally 4K, sharp and crisp image ;)
For quite a while now already 😎
Hi Autogefühl! I am 23 and used both types of climate control. I prefer the manual controls. You can change the settings easier while driving because you get a sense of feedback from the dials ( less time looking away from the road ).
👍
This is a truly beautiful car!!
Welldone BMW, the competitors can't come close
Truly amazing! Love it!!!!
Where can I find 3 series and 5 series comparison?
It is coming up very soon, I decided to launch this one first :) thanks for asking!
Melbourne red is a beautiful colour, but I chose the bright finish on my 330e rather than the black, I think it's better.
That front headlight are the regular LED light, the adaptative has more accentuations in blue!
Fab review. Thank you.
Cheers 🙏
It looks extraordinary 😮
It looks so good, especially I'm that red colour😍
Velbert/Ratingen sofort erkannt. Schöne Ecke❤
Keep going brother
Should get mine next year, can’t wait to finally get rid of my model 3.
Really enjoy your videos... maybe in the future, you will get a 320i estate (touring). It's a more sensible option
The grill is...beautiful!
I got my friends Land Rover for a ride to the market , and it is full screen , it took a while to find the air sync function on the menus !!
Where is ergonomics?
