Happy Friday everyone! We'd like to thank our new sponsor for this video, Factor! Please be sure to use code REDLINE50 to get 50% off your first Factor box at bit.ly/445gf3W! Whenever an enthusiasts pictures a sport sedan, the BMW 3-series is typically the first one to come to mind, we finally get our hands on the 2023 330i xDrive LCI (life cycle impulse in BMW speak) and all the changes BMW made this year make it an even more tempting option for those of you who refuse to go all-electric and wants something a bit more traditional!
I got the opportunity to drive a 330i and M340i back to back and got the 330i. The nose on the 330i seemed lighter and was quicker to turn in, also the power was more than adequate for a daily driver. The M340i had a beast of an engine but for daily use you will almost never be able to use the power legally and it definitely felt more porky 🐷over the nose. I think as incredible as the M340i is there is still plenty of reasons to get the 330i. I have only 2 complaints with the 330i and that is how the power falls off after 5500 RPM, and there is not enough drama as far as exhaust and induction noise. Thankfully there is already and aftermarket solution for these issues.
I made the same comparison but between the 330e and the M340i. The M340i was somewhat more fun, as you say noticeably more nose-heavy, though its engine is amazing. It didn't outweigh the fiscal advantages (company car), lower sticker price--though I can quite easily afford the M340i/M340d--and cost of running of the 330e though, so I went with that. The instant torque of the electric motor is also pretty nice. I feel like the 330-level cars, as you say, are adequately powerful to be quite fun and I found the manoeuvrability to be a bit better because of the lighter nose too, at least in case of the 330e with M-sport suspension. I think this is because the M340i/M340d is xDrive only and the 330e I drove and ordered is RWD, so you don't have a heavy differential, clutch pack and assorted components at the front to weigh down the nose. There's still batteries, of course, but those are at the rear which is much less noticeable. No regrets, though like with any car you get used to the power way too quickly. I love my car to bits [edit] Just read that for the US market, the M340i is available in RWD as well. Didn't know that. Here in Europe it's only xDrive though
@@medellon no regrets, JB4 makes the car have plenty of guts for a daily and the handling is great. I save plenty of money and the car is fun, decently quick, and roomy for family duty. This car is a good balance as far as performance and convenience.
@@BinaryBlueBull I think the the the 340i is best with the xdrive. That amount of power needs all the grip it can get. I think the 330i is best is RWD and the M340is better in x drive.
Hey! I think it would be a great touch if you could add some clips of the ambient lighting at night or sunset so we can see it better in vehicles when speaking about it. I know you have in other videos but not many. Especially when you have them for a week!
Thanks for the suggestion! We have added some ambient lighting shots for certain vehicles! It really depends on how intricate the interior lighting is, we included shots of it in a BMW 7-series because of the theatric nature of the lighting, but in this vehicle, it didn't really change much from the pre-refreshed version, so we felt it was best to leave it out. We'll reconsider including it on more models in the future though!

Nobody is cross shopping a 3 series and a hatchback. What an odd comparison for trunk space. Also, Azure? How does one mispronounce that word not once but twice?
Nice car but don't like that nothing happens for the first second when you try to do a jack rabbit start. The IS350 would have easily catapulted away...
It’s sad that nobody wants to cook anymore just because they have a job! lol I travel constantly and take care of my grandmother. I still get in the kitchen and make homemade meals. I’m tired but I do it anyway. Don’t be lazy people. Cook your own food.
This thing can be called 5 series easily, huge car, huge back seats, extra luxury features, weights like an american truck. Whats wrong with compact sports sedan😂
I find the 3 series looks to be boring and not very different from older models. I wish you could compare to the Alpha Romeo Giulia and am personally interested in that model. It doesn’t have the tech of the 3 series but hear it is more of a drivers car than the 3. The design may be been pretty much same since launch but it still unique and I think better looking than the 3.
I’m so glad power seats are back.. BMW had given me a M440i as a loaner with MANUAL Seats… I assumed due to chip shortage, I was so glad I was back to my X3 M40i the day after lol
I would not say this steering has particularly good feel, it has a dead spot in the middle but it is quick and accurate once you turn in. Little road feel though, it’s the weak point of the car

If you can swing the cost and really value the extra speed and sound of the I-6, the price premium of the M340i is worth it.
Enjoy this 330i engine. In Scandinavia, BMW has removed the 30i engine. We only have the smaller 20i engine (184 hp) and the bigger 40i model. I really miss the 30i engine. Now they are forcing us to by the hybrid 30e. Sad times.
Your facial expression wasn’t too convincing on that meal 😂 2:10
Now my very first BMW sedan I want to buy.
A 2L that produces 400nm of torque from just 12PSI of boost? I find that very hard to believe. Unless the onscreen specs was supposed to say 21PSI.
This is 100% the best daily driver for a new driver
Any idea when the 2024 3 series will come out? My 2020 3 series lease ends in August and am contemplating if I should wait.
I have a 2020 rwd and it's still my favorite car
Bmw please give us some round digital gauges!!! I hate the current BMW tachometer/speedometer
Agree 100%. Surprised more people haven’t talked about this.
It looks very good but here in Canada the MSRP on these went up 5000$+. 55k for a base model
Get a used 2019 one
@@leonchen89 True but maintenance will most likely be an issue lol
Our dollar is doing terrible right now especially compared to USD
@@braveheart9658 You can pay more in depreciation or pay less in small repairs for an used car.
The money will come out of your pocket one way or another.
@@leonchen89 That is true
I realize this is larger than a G70, but I'll take the Genesis. You get their 3.3t for the price of BMWs turbo 4. Another option I didn't consider until I drove it, is the TLX Type S. It's another great option and I've seen listed locally for approximately 59k with an ELS sound system.
Have you considered the extent (or lack of)Genesis service department network/support? It took several months for leased G70 3.3t to get bent rear subframe replacement.
@@paulpierce21 yeah, I heard that's the downfall. However, Acura is still pretty good, and customer service is usually on point
@@paulpierce21 this is true the nearest genesis dealer is over 200Km away from me
@@NBABY-J yes I'm aware, thanks. However, Santa Monica just opened their first stand alone Genesis dealership. My friend brought his G70 there and said the service was good, and everything is setup to feel like you're waiting in a big living room
The gas mileage on TLX Type S’s are pretty bad
Is the non adaptive suspension 3 a softer ride than the comfort setting on the adaptive suspension?
That looks nice interior and subtle exterior charges. My wife had a 2020 330 msport. Def nice and decent amount of power
BMW and Mercedes have subscriptions in their cars. I don't care how nice, cool, or fast they are. I will never buy from a brand that tries to control what I bought from them.
Most companies are doing that. Mine is free for 3yrs. After that I will not pay. So, I'll be stuck going to my car to start it. Lol
thanks!! hey any chance u know how to adjust climate without it turning down the music? thanks
I think you're missing launch control... my pre-LCI 330i has it
Nicely spec inside out
Don't the look of the rear bumper on the lci models
Can't decide between this or the Lexus IS350 F Sport
Go for the bmw u will love it. I have a 23 x3M
The color is off da chain also the interior, awesome color
I’d love your opinion if n how this model compares to the 330e in power and economy
Have you done a review on a bmw M3 ‘23-24 comp?
Nice car.
Got myself a m/a V6 lexus IS though and dropped an exhaust on it. Fuel economy is bad but Omg the look and sound is amazing!
Thinking that color and all iterations are now looking so last year...not a fault of BMW but all that jump on the color! Thx!
This was such a great review. Thank you for covering for most important details.
I got this car and my screen went blank I had the same issues with mersades to so all those fancy screens goes blank just a reminder as the car reach 50 miles trade it in highly recommend
use some punctuations!
My lease is up on my 2020 X3M40, debating whether get a loaded M340 Xdrive or X3M….
Nice work you guys
My lease is almost up they’re offering me an upgrade to this and I’m also looking at the Accord Touring
use sprint mode, hold the left paddle down
Just to make sure, are these hybrid plug in?
I’d love the six in the M340i, but it cost 20K more and does not handle as well as it is heavier. Less than 6.0 is good!
I was trying to spec adaptive cruise control and I saw that You have to get 340i ....that's fucking wild when it's standard on many other cars. You can get adaptive suspension though
bmw did that color right, toyota, kia and others tired to do similar but it never hit right.
All season and runflat: those must be expensive tires?
I just saw this exact car/license plate in Edgewater MD 20 mins after watching this review. Small world!
Wow! Small world for sure. Most likely, Motorweek has the same car for testing.
When the 330i is a base emgine, what is the 318i for you ?
I can’t help but feel like he is part of the reason manufacturers are shoving pointless tech down our throats and increasing cost.
When that screen breaks you’re out thousands. Always wanting this and that
Premium fuel isn’t actually required. It’s “recommended”. The owner’s manual says 87 octane is fine
Performance would suffer dramatically
@invincible201xxx An educated guess would be 20 to 25 less horse power. All that happens is the ignition timing is pulled back.
Ooop house tour?👀😂
Does it require premium to get that gas mileage or does it require premium just to run?
You can get away with putting 89 octane but will suffer a unnoticeable reduce in power.
Probably a decrease in mileage as well.
@@tpolerex7282 that’s a myth. It’s not true if car is driven normally.
Great presentation!
I'm happy that all your hard work is noticed. I was very excited to see that you have a sponsor for your video. Bigg ups. Excellent work as usual hence I'm always happy to watch your reviews. About the car... Its brilliant as a BMW should be unfortunately I'm not a fan of the new styling.
Will drive bmw all day
Nobody is cross shopping a 3 series and a hatchback. What an odd comparison for trunk space. Also, Azure? How does one mispronounce that word not once but twice?
Thank you for the video. I love the BMW, the color and probably the basic what I would probably get.
I'm sorry, I can't live without ventilated seats.
It's crazy how this is way faster than my 2022 outlander and gets better gas mileage too. Lol
The base model but so many packages added. I suppose it's the German way.
What’s wrong with that
Sofyan, did this tester 330i have the Adaptive M Suspension option for $550? Thx
Nice car but don't like that nothing happens for the first second when you try to do a jack rabbit start. The IS350 would have easily catapulted away...
Woooo😮😮😮 gorgeous interior design 😮😮😮😮 yeahhh!!
It’s sad that nobody wants to cook anymore just because they have a job! lol
I travel constantly and take care of my grandmother. I still get in the kitchen and make homemade meals. I’m tired but I do it anyway. Don’t be lazy people. Cook your own food.
If prices were not so high, people would buy it. 🥶😅🤷
You can’t get ventilated seats on a 3 series but a jetta that’s less than 29k you can get ventilated seats lol
The only 3 series that offers a manual is the M?
WHAT?!?!?
Oh BMW... what happened to you? 😒
where’s the accord vs Altima video
We had a few embargoed videos that required editing for next week so we will have to push the comparison test to May 10th! Sorry for the delay!
Is this the same engine in the base supra?
That’s correct!
It's a nice car but Alfa rates last in consumer reports. Enough to put me off
toyotas have adaptive cruise control standard on corollas
Finally no more giant grill!
I’m so glad power seats are back..
BMW had given me a M440i as a loaner with MANUAL Seats…
I assumed due to chip shortage,
I was so glad I was back to my X3 M40i the day after lol
That has launch control…
I would not say this steering has particularly good feel, it has a dead spot in the middle but it is quick and accurate once you turn in. Little road feel though, it’s the weak point of the car
