  • Join me on an incredible journey to one of Kunming’s most awe-inspiring historical sites-the Dragon Gate Grottoes. Built back in 1781, this stunning attraction offers more than just a peek into the past; it provides breathtaking views of Kunming from above!
Starting our adventure, we took a cable car and a chair lift, making our way up through scenic routes that only heightened the anticipation. It was a hot day, but trust me, the views and the cool history behind these grottoes made every moment worth it.
The Dragon Gate Grottoes were carved by a dedicated man and his team in the 18th century, and standing there, you really feel the weight of history and effort that went into creating this magnificent site. From detailed sculptures to expansive views over Kunming, every step brings a new surprise.
If you’re planning a visit or just love exploring from your couch, this video is your gateway to one of Kunming’s hidden treasures. Don’t forget to like, comment, and share if you enjoy diving into history and scenic adventures!

I'm sorry, the lack of English on the road sign at 9:31 caused you to miss the correct route down the mountain.
The Longmen in Xishan, Kunming, is one of the destinations where locals bring their children to exercise on weekends and holidays, and where middle-aged and elderly people exercise. It's indeed not very suitable for tourists.
Kunming is generally used as a transit station to Dali, Lijiang, Shangri-La, or Xishuangbanna, and the Stone Forest not far from Kunming is worth a visit.
In the late 1980s, I met and got to know many foreign friends in Dali Ancient City.
The most interesting time was when I was about ten years old, I met several German teachers. When they saw me playing Chinese chess, they stopped and chatted with me enthusiastically.
However, we couldn't understand each other's language.
Fortunately, they had a German-English dictionary and I had an English-Chinese dictionary.
First, translate German into English, and then translate English into Chinese, while gesticulating, in this way they taught me international chess, and I taught them Chinese chess.
Many years later, it's interesting to take my children to experience the world.
Seeing foreign friends like you coming to my hometown is a pity that I saw it afterwards and couldn't provide you with some more detailed help.
I wish you happiness and joy!

Try to avoid weekends and holidays and you'll have great experience in tourist attractions, or everywhere will be crowded with people. The population in China is huge!😂

Yeah I’m definitely going to avoid heavy times when I can but seems like some places no matter what are super popular. Which is *mostly* manageable 😂

The Chinese idiom "the carp jumps over the dragon gate" symbolizes profound transformation and achievement through perseverance. Originating from an ancient legend, it tells the story of a carp that swims upstream against the current and leaps over the mythical Dragon Gate. Upon succeeding, the carp transforms into a dragon, a creature that embodies strength, power, and auspiciousness in Chinese culture. This idiom is often used to describe individuals who overcome significant challenges to achieve great success, mirroring the carp’s dramatic ascent to dragonhood. It serves as a powerful metaphor for personal growth and triumph against the odds.So everyone touching the Dragon Gate can be considered a blessing act

I am sorry to tell you that at 9:33, there is an eight-character sign of "this way to the electric cars going down the mountains" on the left. Unfortunately, it's not in English, or it will save you energy, time, and money from going all the way back to the cable car.😁 It's so sad that the sign is clearly filmed but I can do nothing to remind you🤣

Haha, it seems that you have come to a very commercialized scenic spot, but what you need to know is that in China, when you see something touched by many people or photographed, it probably represents a good meaning. Although it may be a modern product, it also embodies people's superstitions and expectations, with Buddhism being more prevalent

In China, there are tourist attractions that require payment for tickets. The price is determined by the amount of exercise you need to pay, and there is no possibility of retreat. It's like attending a fitness course, and of course, the scenery is also very beautiful. Hahaha
