This is not an automonous region, it's an autonomonous prefecture under the Yunnan province. China has just five autonomous regions: Guangxi Zhuang, Xizang Tibetan, Xinjiang Uyghur, Ningxia Hui and Inner Mongolia Mongolian, for the main minorities. Under some "normal" provinces, they have autonomous counties, prefectures and districts, inside said provinces for lesser minority groups, such as Shangri-La. For example, there is a Manchu autonomous county, in the province of Hebei, just next to Beijing. Great video! Another subscriber.
Hello, Bard, I watched some of your videos from Chinese websites, I am an Irish history/culture lover (you can see from my avatar haha) from GuangXi China. I found your accent familiar in the earlier videos, but I am not sure you are Irish because you said you live in Sweden. but in the last video I hear you sing "on the one road" on that E-bike, that makes me confirm you are Irish and decide to greet ya on youtube haha. Anyway, have a good trip and if you come to China next time, I have many Unique and niche attractions you may enjoy to share with you.
Hello there, wow really good spot! 😃 🎶 Really nice to meet you! I am indeed Irish ☘️ but I live in Sweden and the next trip I’d absolutely love to reach out and get some insider locations! Thanks for coming to say hello 🙋♂️

That one I did see! What caught my eye was the nice handwriting 😂 So that room I went into but didn’t film. The video is a little short because there were many rooms I went to but there’s no footage from it. Thanks for watching and good eye! 👀
nice view and weather~ actually you can go to the lake you saw neaby the temple. Photos are inhibited in almost all the temples in China. Okay to take from the outside, but not the inside.
You still like going to corners as always, when the red ladder appears, I even wonder if you would climb it😂 I guess you will go to Tibet and Nei Mongol, you seem to like their cultures very much. Also you seem to be interested in Buddhism but know little about it😂
Haha I promise when I first saw it my thoughts were the same 😂 But then realised I maybe weigh a bit too much for it haha As the religions I grew up with were so different to Buddhism I really like it on the high level.
@@ramblingbard Actually I'm a Buddhist😂, I had learnt Tibetan Buddhism, but now more focus on Chinese Han Buddhism. Buddhism completely changed my life
Your understanding of the impact of the book "The Disappearing Horizon" on the place now called Shangri La has shocked me. Many Chinese people do not know the origin of this. In fact, there are still multiple places in China competing for the right to use the name "Shangri La", and their local governments want to prove that their district are the prototype of the utopia in the book, for tourism.
It’s a strange one really because anywhere and nowhere could be considered Shangri-La but the history of the temple complex here and how far back it dates I guess it’s as good a place as any to have the name.
any plan to visit other parts of China? I have been dreaming of visiting the three gorges dam with my family. It should be nice as summer is approaching.
I’ve some more larger cities to go on the west and north - unfortunately won’t get to the 3 gorges but it’s something I’d love to see. The sheer scale of the engineering alone is incredible!
Cultural genocide is going on in Tibet under Xi Jinping. Tibetan children are holed up in CCP's colonial boarding school where Tibetan children numbering around a million are forced to talk, read, write and communicate in Chinese only. All private school that teach Tibetan language are shit down. In some area overzealous Chinese officials are even n monitoring if Tibetan children are taking private lesson in Tibetan during holiday through periodic visit and warning parents. Tibet may be sizzling hot destination for Chinese and foreigners but for Tibetans their movement are curtailed within Tibet. The overseas Tibetan find it exceedingly to get permit to visit Tibet for family reunion, pilgrimages etc. Foreign tourist are regulated. But Han Chinese are let loose in Tibet with incentives to over whelme Tibetan.

I encourage you to go to Tibet and see for yourself. These monks are studying Tibet scriptures using Tibetan of course. This is even in Yunnan province. If you go to Tibet proper, people are speaking Tibetan and schools are teaching Tibetan, and also Chinese. Keep in mind that the old elites/slave owners did not give ANY education to the serfs/slaves.
😂Just watched a video of boarding school on TibetTravel channel in which they speak Tibetan. Boarding schools are absolutely necessary there because lot of Tibetans are nomads scattered on vast grass land
m sure that if you go to tibe and you speak Chinese to them, many people don't understand it ,So what language do Native Americans speak in the United States ,im shame on you , All places in tibet, China are written in both Chinese and Tibetan. Look at the United States funny
