    Thanks for this video. I just bought the PMZH91 version, and without any explanation of how to be able to use it's "7 Modes", I was stumped, but your video cleared everything up for me.

    So far, they’re the best overall flashlights, I’ve found, for the money. In terms of brightness, and the quality of pointing, without casting artifacts on the subject it’s pointed at; I’ve started using them as part of a portable, battery operated lighting rig, with stands and such, for camera work, with rechargeable batteries. They absolutely outperform Maglites, in every conceivable application, I’ve used them, so far. I still have some Maglites in my portable lighting rig, but, I’m phasing them out, and are only secondarily considered for utility, in that manner.

    The 400 lumen flashlight looks very good and I'll be trying it soon. As you said, the AA batteries are good value for money (and available in multipacks). Reliability is important, and I presume these Energizers have that.

      They have been perfect, just don't leave batts in to corrode, people can't get cap off because they don't own a plyers.

    My favorite feature besides the construction and light quality is that it uses AA battery cells. I have a myriad of Maglites, of all sorts of generations, in my collection, and D cells are a bear to purchase for them, and my 6 cell 1400 lumen Engergizer light outperforms all of my Maglites in almost every conceivable way. Just ordered the 2 AA 400 lumen Energizer with a scope mount for nighttime pest control and am looking forward to seeing how it performs in that application.

      Yes, AAA are only best when designed over say a button cell, 1 AA 2500mAh = 3.5 AAA's 700mAh

      @@publicmail2 I bought a nice little pen light/lantern clip on a few years ago for 5 bucks, and was so pleased with it for the money, I bought many people in my family one for Christmas one year. The only caveat is that is uses 3 AAA’s and AAA’s are just obnoxious to keep around alongside AA’s. AAA’s have been that sort of pain in my rear since I was a youngin’ with a Gameboy pocket. I suspect the main reason why widely certain electronic manufacturers go with AAA designs, in higher draw devices, is to save pennies on the cost of the enclosure materials at the expense of being a nuisance to consumers.

    I have the 2AA 400 lumen version and while the light beam is fantastic the torch seems to be very wasteful on the batteries. When the batteries are about 50% discharged the torch won't turn on even though it still emits a decent amount of light. With the Energizer alkalines I was able to use it for about 1 hour straight without any problems, then after turning it off I had to wait some time for the batteries to regain their voltage to be able to turn it on again. When I used my voltmeter on the batteries outside the torch the threshold was somewhere around 2.2-2.3 volts - if it was lower the torch refused to turn on. Still overall I was able to run it some 3 hours on one set of batteries but the problems with turning it on after less than 50% into the discharge made using it later very frustrating or outright impossible. This torch needs frequent battery replacement and usually the dead batteries will still have a lot of unused power left. It looks like a fault with the electronic switch. Does yours exhibit the same phenomenon?

    I have the larger one and like it a lot. Really bright when you need it. Nice and solid.
    Thanks for explaining how the dimming works. There were no instructions at all in the packaging so this was very helpful.

    I only have one negative comment with regards to this flashlight.
    It needs one heck of a bunch of AA batts (6 pcs) to operate.
    Could been designed to have 3 medium batts to operate..

      Rotted batteries? Lubricant probably wont help threads are below O ring. Use 2 channel locks, and rotate, hopefully corrosion is in tale end only, you can clean that. There's no spring at tale end to corrode. Be careful not to score it up, try tight electrical tape on body not to scape it, then channel locks/vice grips...

      What I met was, if the mode you're on is on for 5 secs or more, you just have to hit the button once to turn off, it will not go through the other modes to get to off, just one press and off. Thx

    can you mod PMZH61 to fit 18650 ?

    • @publicmail2
      @publicmail2  4 роки тому

      I have not but of course you could mod the PMZH61, but probably not worth the hassle. 3xAA are = to 1x18650 2500mAh anyway so 2x18650's would be the same as the 6xAA, but 4x18650's would give 2x's runtime.
