I can definitely sense from this song, both misery and tranquility at the same time, but the misery is stronger. Its feels like this : You've killed the traitor or the traitor is bleeding out, but you also ask yourself questions, you are neither happy or mad about it, you did it because it was needed, not because it's what you wanted to do. The traitor was someone that was known to you, but they betrayed you and mistreated you for extended periods of time, they have paid their ultimate price for what they did, and now it done. They are out of the running and your still standing up without any opposition, the evil from the opposition has been stopped. But somehow you ask yourself, was it worth it ? was it the right move ? you continue to search for your answers but your unable to find the answers, but end up with more questions. This is based on what I am sensing as I hear the song, it's like there is hidden messages in the song itself. I am not sure if I an the only one sending that sort of messages from this song, but I know I sense it.
Edit: I actually realised that comparing Adam to Icarus might be a bit faulty, I think comparing humanity to him fits, but Adam is, rather unwillingly, taking the role of Prometheus instead, bearing a gift for civilisation but being doomed to watch helplessly, as he is the one plunging humanity into the abyss instead I know I'm extremely late to this but still, this OST fills me with such deep feelings, it is so iconic in an almost mythical way. To me it symbolizes the feelings Jensen has when reaching the very top, it is part of a reversed Icarus myth to me, the player is lead to believe that Jensen himself is Icarus, in a way this is true, but when reaching the Penthouse, you realise that you were wrong, you, Icarus, reached the sun as portrayed through the window lights, roof ornaments. It was not a literal Icarus, it was figurative and while you were busy, chasing your original enemy, developing a tunnel vision, in this moment you realise that you may have reached the sun but "down on Earth" the wax has already begun to melt. To me, this OST symbolizes reaching the height of the Cyberage, just as the confrontation with Rucker in MD symbolizes the very end of it, HR starts in the night, when you arrive in the Penthouse, the sun apparently reached its zenith, by the time you reach Rucker, the sun is setting. Thank you so much for uploading this, I must have listened to it uncounted times by now.
Beautiful soundtrack, as everything else in this fantastic game. There is so much homage to Greek mythology and this scene manages to capture that perfectly. Can Zhao Yun Ru be considered a symbolic reference to Icarus? Not only is her penthouse almost "near the sun" on top of the highest skyscraper in Hengsha, but she took augmentation technology as a tool to get there. Her ambition got her there. Her greed, lust for power, and her will to stop at nothing without regard for how much blood she has to spill on the way got her there. And at the end of the game she manages to "reach the sun" by connecting herself to the Hyron computer and literally burns to death. Ironically, Hugh Darrow compared himself to Daedalus, Icarus' father. In terms of the invention of augmentation technology, that very much holds true.
There are so many feelings appear in me when I'm listening this. That soundtrack sounds like the choir of angels in paradise. Michael McCann is genius, that's what I say.
Check out the track "Our Last Hope (Finale)" from XCOM's soundtrack if you haven't already. The music is also made my Michael McCann. It shares some similarities to this one, especially near the end when the choir hits.
Jensen reaches the penthouse just like Icarus is reaching the sun. But is he the one whose wings will burn ? It's impressive how this place is telling so much about the story by simply suggest it with the breathtaking design (both visual and audio) of the room.
It's explained that the light comes from ALL sides, which is physically impossible since one side should be shaded. The penthouse is IN the sun, a metaphor for augmentation gone way way too far with Zhao.
Michael MCCANN is so underrated a ambient mastermind, I play deus ex music in my home regularly as I'm either doing tasks like cleaning or whatever, I can't get enough of his music
Now this is an office! An utterly beautiful setting only made more apparent by the music. Like the TYM upper tower labs, I stayed here longer than necessary looking around and going through Zhao Yun Ru's desk. Also staring at picture frames with NO pictures! You get a chance to see how ambitious and power-hungry she is.
Zhao had renaissance style picture frames with no pictures in them. Interesting symbolism. Whereas Adam and Sarif have pictures everywhere. Suitsbher, I suppose. thanks as always for the upload, GA.

The rich live and the poor die. They're a mythological dilemma, made to fix the very problem they want to solve. And there's nothing to say, really, they can't be solved. Jensen's idea of humanity, at its core, is as tangled as the Earth it lives on. One man can save the planet, one can only witness it being destroyed. And that's exactly what leaves us with no choice but to love the people we have, and get through life with the people we have.

So if I'm understanding it right this is supposed to symbolize the dangers of overindulgence in cybernetics, considering the trailer for deus ex had a reference to the fall of icarus, on top of Tai young being derived from taiyang meaning "the sun" in Chinese.
It's more about if you get closer to the truth. Truth is seen as a light, casting it's rays without objection, and once the objection falls the light will be cast on to what once was an objection. Jensen in the story is met with resistance everytime he digs into what happened in Detroit and the Aug incident. With every new piece of Intel (truth) his circumstances become even more dangerous to him and his case colleagues. There can't be an overindulgence in cybernetics in the world of Deus Ex Human Revolution or Mankind Divided, because the Augs are rejected by the hosts and they can only be accepted with Neuropozyne. A drug that many have OD'ed from and is problematic on it's own. I'd say Akira tells a better story in overindulgence of cybernetics and superhuman tech. (Better than Marvel and DC heroes/villains). Tai Yong medical bought Sarif's company and wanted to do so by killing their reputation through the terrorist attack in Detroit, which massively injured Jensen and killed his wife (or so we were made to believe. She's still alive, and is in fact working with Bob Page, an Illuminati member)
