- The year is 2027, and the world is a place of innovation and technological advancement. Yet it is also a place of chaos and conspiracy. Powers older than nations, and men with the vision and will to take control of the world, manipulate events from the shadows, intent on designs so large, so intricate, they will take decades to come to fruition.
The world is as it has always been: a study in contrasts. The rich remain rich, walled within opulent protected enclaves, isolated within halos of security and consumerism. The poor remain poor, held down by their governments and employers; forced into docility by the output of an ever-present media. The planet’s wounded ecosphere struggles on, slowly choking to death on pollution and neglect, while technology advances inexorably toward a Singularity. When it finally reaches one, the barriers between organic and inorganic will be erased forever.
In this time of extremes, corporations have broken free of the bounds of nationstates,eclipsing old world powers as the new players on the global chessboard. Whole cities are now corporate fiefdoms, and the national armies of the First World countries are a poor second to the private military forces of the security industrial complex.
Humanity is changing and battle lines are being drawn between flesh and machine. The new technologies of cybernetic implants are creating a new class divide. On one side, the ‘Naturals’ -- humans who eschew implants because they are either morally opposed to the technology, too poor to afford it, or afflicted with a rare rejection syndrome that renders their bodies permanently incompatible with it. On the other side are the ‘Augs’ -- humans augmented with cybernetic implants -- and with approximately one-twentieth of humanity possessing augmentations by 2027, these people are slowly becoming the new face of Mankind.
The foundations are laid for the future of our species, but evolution is a painful process. Right now, both sides are on a collision course that threatens to end in violent, lethal upheaval. The choices made here and now will alter the course of history - or usher in an age of darkness...

True story. THIS GAME MADE ME DECIDE ON WHAT TO DO WITH MY LIFE. Let me explain. I was a cop (which is quite possibly the worse job ever). Things were not looking up for and eventually I was forced to resign (long story). I was lost I had bad health a whore for a gf zero direction and even less hope. I had nothing else better to do so I started playing video games and came across a little gem called Deus ex human revolution. As luck would have it a friend offered me a job in private security. I figure what the hell its good enough for Jensen its good enough for me. Fast forward I play more of the game and discover Jensen is good with computers. Again I figure good enough for him good enough for me. So now I am in private security doing cyber forensics and will soon my salary will be hitting the 6 figure mark. ALL BC OF THIS FRIGGIN GAME. Essentially Adam Jensen inspired me to come out of a deep depression and find not only my passion in life but my destiny and purpose here on planet earth. God bless you Edios

I keep Human Revolution installed almost solely to just park it on the main menu and go to sleep with this in the background
... that's quite thoughtful, but also life-draining to your rig; a mobile device paired with speakers should set the mood.

The thing about this video in compare to others with the same content is that this video is longer.
You may say that you can play any other version of this music on loop. BUT the smooth transition is not the same as this version.
I'm really thankful for the uploader for doing such an excellent job.
I've been a regular customer to this video for the last 3 years. Whenever I want to start reading something or even if I'm just laying on the couch I will put this on the big screen.

The music in this game blew me away when it first came out. It's a timeless soundtrack. The first Deus Ex is well known for its stellar soundtrack but HR set the bar higher than I expected.
there aren't very many games that suck me in just from the title menu music but the ones that do *really* suck me in. I have a small list of games that sometimes I just turn them on to listen only to their title music: Deus Ex: HR, Mass Effect, and Kingdom Hearts. Perhaps it is because the music in those three games are so calming and beautiful, the perfect background music for anything in my life!
Enslaved: Odyssey to the West has some of the best title music I've ever heard. Also just a fantastic game. Loved it.

I prefer this to menu screen in Mankind Divided. The motion of mosaic piecing themselves together to create an image of Adam Jensen, it's hard to turn my attention away. Truly I hope we see another sequel of Deus Ex.
My biology teacher used to play some random folk music during some of our lab-tests while we walked around the exhibits with our notepads. If I were in his shoes, I'd so play something like this just to see who in the class would know what it was....
Plus, it's exactly the right kind of gloomy, sterile science tone for that kind of thing.
I still keep my Deus Ex Human Revolution PS3 Standard Edition disc, you can't throw away a masterpiece of game and music like this.

@call2872 ; Correct. The main difference between HR and MD is the soul. HR had its own identity AND a pretty strong background for each character. The story is excellent and makes you think about many things about the human condition, our power, its consequences and what absolutely must be avoided for the next generation.
MD lacks this essence, and a few obvious details were weird. OST still match, but you start 2 years later, and you don't have powerfull weapons like the plasma or machine gun for the private Tarvos police? Or even more powerfull equipments?? Come on! It is missing logical evolution

Oh man , I was a young teen back then -13 or 14. Call me a nerd but I used to be always in deep research regarding human anatomy ,its capabilities and all the other stuffs, including the ways to maximize our capabilities .(PLUS I WAS AN AVID GAMER) - so this game automatically interested me . I welcomed The Deus ex genre into my life , starting with this one and then going back to the previous ones. I liked the universe so much that it became one of my favourite cause it was so relatable. The story , the lore and the events are so relatable - especially when politics play a huge role.. Man I wish I was again back to my 13 yr old self ,about to enter this new journey.I'm a medical student now ,but if the world wants me to research on expanding the knowledge about our human bodies , I will do it . People say books inspire , well certain modern games with extremely well written story can also do the same..Its all about the story , I have seen games with better gameplays ,but not better stories.

The number of how many time I have listened to DE: HR and MD ost is nuts. It's just too good of a background music, so in some sense you can claim that it became the ost of my life
This song shares the same chord progression as the second half of Comic Bakery Title Menu and now I just have that overlayed in my head as well.
Still listening to this menu music after all these years, I have the full score of the game and this track alone has over 700+ plays. Its even more appropriate music for the year 2020 and everything going on right now.
2027 and that vision of the world seems like its just around the corner now in 2020.
It's scary, isn't it, how quickly we are approaching the year this game is set in.

I had a PS3 a long time ago and only played on PlayStation, awhile after I bought a Xbox 360 and this was the first game I got for it. This music will always be in my brain

From the moment I heard this menu music and the moment I pressed start and heard that distinct sound I knew this game was gonna be a fun ride. Imo I still think this is better than 2077. The story and characters are more engaging, the music is awesome and the cyberpunk aesthetic is actually here, that gold and black color pallet too.
2077 was shit , that game had a lame story and game breaking bugs. It was a game with no lore. If we start from Deus ex 1 to Mankind divided , several books can be written about it .
