  • Adding a Micro-Air EasyStart to your Leisure Travel Vans Dometic Penguin ll air conditioner is required if you want to run the air conditioner off a 3000w inverter and Lithium batteries. Regardless of your upgrading, installing an EasyStart 364 is still a very good idea because it makes the air conditioner run a little quieter. You don't hear that big jolt when the air conditioner compressor kick on. It also reduces the compressor start amperage spike by nearly 60%. This makes it easier for the generator and 3000w inverter to run the compressor. It also allows you to run the air conditioner off a 20a shore power outlet. So installing a Micro-Air EasyStart 364 has many benefits no matter how you might use your LTV.
The Micro-Air EasyStart 364 takes 30 minutes to 1 hour to install. You can order the EasyStart 364 from Amazon, www.amazon.com... and it includes the installation kit.. You can also order directly from the Micro-Air website, www.microair.n..., but you need to purchase the installation kit as well, www.microair.n....
Make sure you check the contents of your Amazon purchased EasyStart 364, because sometimes it doesn't contain the installation kit and you'll need to call Micro-Air customer support and have them send you the installation kit. The installation kit contains; doubled sided tape, alcohol swabs, zip ties, and 2 position and 3 position WAGO Lever Lock connectors.
Tools you'll need are, Phillips and Flat head screwdrivers, small adjustable wrench, snap blade knife, needle nose pliers, standard pliers, wire cutter, and wire stripper. The wire stripper I was using was this one, www.amazon.com....

I watched a factory technician install one and he said the second install location in front of the blower fan is not recommended. The warm air from the fan blows on the easy start box and can cause it to overheat. @ 6:00 minutes in your video.

I don't install mine in front of the fan, but I know folks who have with no issues. You make a good point and certainly something to consider.

A 5/16" nut driver will make those electrical enclosure screws much easier to deal with. You've got your capacitors backwards. The big silver one is the dual start capacitor for the compressor and the fan motor. The smaller black one is the compressor's run capacitor.

I bought a replacement for my Silver one and the manufacturer calls it a Dual Run Capacitor. It is a good thing that one doesn't need to know the names of the internals to install and EasyStart correctly.

@@SSTraveler-Sandy Interesting. I thought the replacement I recently bought was referred to as dual start capacitor, but despite my efforts to the contrary it's always possible that I could be wrong! It certainly doesn't care what you call it. ;-)

@@SSTraveler-Sandy, you are absolutely correct. I don't know if you noticed or not, but I updated my document about replacing the fan and capacitor to include your correction of my misunderstanding. Thanks!

I just had to reapply the double sided tape because it fell off the styrofoam. Any thoughts of taping a small screw through the styrofoam into that plastic “wall” at the top of the box?

Should t stick it to styrofoam either, won’t stay stuck long😬

@Alohakoa59 You'd be surprised. When I replaced my Dometic after 10 years the MicroAir EasyStart was still very strongly stuck in place.
