  • I have never had a doctor on State of Mind. Dr. Meleeka gave such an interesting perspective on divorce, mental health, Boston, and just living a great life.

Mr. Benard Thanks for State of Mind. I suffer from severe anxiety and depression. Outstanding guests and your personal story is inspiring. State of Mind and coffee ☕ is one of my favorite Sunday pastimes. Enjoy your character on General Hospital as well. A great escape from our problems for a hour. Have a epic New Year 2024. Go Niners 🏈🏈

Thanks Maurice for bringing Dr Clary in, so talented and educated! Amazing. I’m a long time watcher of GH, but glad I found your channel talking about coping and thriving thru mental health issues. I’m a parent of a child/young adult coping now with depression, anxiety, post pandemic affects, trying different therapies and medications to get my child through this. I hang on your words and those of your guests, as I struggle with finding the help they need. Yes, this life is about helping people, and learning to understand and love them, whatever they’re going through. I am open about my child’s struggles, and like you, it amazing how many respond with similar struggles. Thank you Maurice and Dr Clary. Thanks 🙏.

Another great episode! It's unfortunate I've never heard of Dr. Maleeka but I have now & even researched her so she's gained a fan. I'm very impressed with her & thankful for this entire conversation especially the discussion about bringing family back & the bullying topic. I know it will help someone & I'm even going to have a discussion with my 6yr old niece. Thanks Maurice! Keep em coming,we ALL need it!

This episode was the light at the of the tunnel. Everyone’s 5th is entirely different. When I finally got diagnosed properly with anxiety . Then my weight lifted. I went through such a rollercoaster. I was taken off medication when I got pregnant. So I had horrible insomnia/ and tears. The proper medication helped maintain a balance and helped me be able to cope with life. I love this doctor explain the difference between the therapies. As an early educator , early intervention is so important. If they get the help early then hopefully most don’t have to go on medication.
I like how she said “we” that we need to be there for them.

I greatly appreciate this episode as a licensed mental health provider/advocate and huge fan of yours! It was wonderful to see a psychologist whose strengths come from life experience and academia like myself. Lol I’m available if and when you wanna bring on more mental health professionals of color. I think it’s important that people see our humanity as well as our credentials. Love this show and excited to see more! Thank you!

I love this Doctor she is right about not every child needs to be on medication. Every situation is different. I also understand what she means about how family can make us feel a certain way. I was brought up with a loving Italian family, but there were times I felt not good enough and I felt a lot of anxiety because of it. I also went through depression from time to time. I have been on Zoloft but at the moment I’ve been able to cope on my own. What helped me in the past is my children and also reading your book Maurice. I don’t feel so alone. I also have to say thank you for all your interviews with great guests and their experiences. That is helped me immensely. ❤️🙏🇨🇦🇮🇹

She is so right about different personalities with kids. You have to know the child, they're all different and treatments shouldn't be the same. This is a great STOM, covering so many things. Thanks to both of you.

Maurice, I think what you are seeing is a sampling of what Americans are feeling right now!Educators have seen this since the pandemic. On top of being academically behind, we are seeing mental health issues with students as well as their parents. There are more and more agencies and doctors available, but people don’t always take advantage of the help being offered . It’s a tough cycle!

Wow Maurice, you’re really are incredible man, ❤️🙏🏻
What I love about your podcasts just has such incredible view, touching, and inspiring stories. But I’m impressed how you set the boundaries and levels on how to open up and start conversation when you have your guest. Make sure everyone feels comfortable and understand what to say or talk about. Especially when it’s mental health, anxiety or depression. Mostly I love is how your message clearly says all Humans Beings in this world in our own ways and don’t forget that. Life goes on.
So thank you! And I read your book. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🤝🏻you come a long way. I’ll be thrilled to meet you one day 🤝🏻🙂👍🏻

Maurice, you seem to be doing very well mentally. It’s good to see. The meds you’re on, seem to be working well. Keep up the fight. 👊 I’ve struggled in my 48 years. Having ADHD mimicked Bipolar in my opinion. I was out of control most of my life. Getting treated for my ADHD, gave me the dopamine surge that was so lacking. I was 43, when I got this treated. I take a serotonin inhibitor, ( Lexapro) and Buspar for the norepinephrine. So, all 3 neurotransmitters are getting what they need daily. It has changed my life so much. I’m so grateful. I empathize with your off and on struggles. I love Sonny Corinthos! ♥️ Take care, Maurice. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

It sounds like y’all might be talking about two different things. My son has an intellectual disability with an IQ of 68. I’ve been an advocate for him all his life and treated with respect as an individual. There’s a difference between ID and mental health disorders. Maurice, your son is getting better and better on GH.

Bipolar people have a brain imbalance and it’s really important to take the medication. I do think Maurice was born that way. Also schizophrenia is usually either inherited etc. these things can’t be cured by psychotherapy.
