Hi guys--- Howard here. Great video and good to see ya back on the chanel. BCR's are the way to go. Maybe the smoke board circuit might be failing because of it's age but it's just a thought. I don't really know. Love the bloopers.
I love your guy show and thank you for the tips on that battery. I have MTH trains and I had them since 2010. I never ran them because I never got to get my layout up. Your show is awesome. Love you guys and hope you have a great day you and your families.❤🎉
Anthony, thanks so very much for sharing your thoughts. Every time we run trains, I think back to my first 4 by 8 ft trainboard. Somewhere between age 8 or 10, I did it all by myself.- the trackplan, wiring, modeling, landscape. In my minds eye, I see my new haven diesel or my lionel steam engine climbing up my elevated track, amazed they made the grade . A special good feeling that will, hopefully, last forever. That's what I wish for you...for ryan, my son, ....for all train guys. So please, run your trains for the fun of it. Gary
Hi Gary, thanks for responding running. Train is great memories. I had a very good dad and mom has started me out in the stuff when I was really young probably like seven years old somewhere around you and I had mine piece of plywood to mine was American fly set my brother had a lion now, they just ran on the floor but anyways I have a lot of nice trains 99% of them are MTH anyway just set up. I’m hoping my grandchildren will take interest in them. I really wanted to set up so I can run railroad operations. I also have a big Carrera layout in my man cave that community of people are very loving toalways thanks for writing back and I hope you have a great night and thanks for passing on your knowledge. that’s a great piece, i recently purchased a lionel njt 500 switcher. i was really looking for the one that you showed but i don’t think i’ll ever find one of those. the lionel one does a great job
Yeah, I've never even seen it for sale, just in the catalog. We actually picked up that NJT switcher but was disappointed as it couldn't pull coaches out of our yard like we wanted, so we ended up returning it. Maybe it just needed some traction tires. - Ryan
Really nice set. I believe that Lionel made a NJT cab car but I could be thinking about Amtrak. I see you have a couple of other NJT locomotives on the shelf as well. Sometimes you have to pay a little more for the trains that are hard to find. I would pay more for something on my wanted list. On another note the real EMD F40PH never had handrails.
@Dakman well, Sean, we always appreciate that little morsel of knowledge you somehow remember. It adds a little bit of spice to that engine. It is very much appreciated. Gary
I never pursued the MTH NJT Geeps...I had one of the Lionel low-end GP38's in NJT colors as part of a set breakup, intended to pull my quartet of Atlas O Bombardier cars like your set. Instead that waited so long it got superseded by an AtlasO ALP44, which in turn got superseded by a MTH ALP46. Still waiting to run them...only commuter trains I've been able to run for videos are Metro-North (Lionel M7 set with 6 cars, and a K-Line F10 with eight of their 15" Bombardier coaches).
"Holy Jersey Transit Batman!" OK, I'm sure Ryan doesn't get the joke but I'm sure Gary does! 🤣 Congratulations gents! For $600 that's a great purchase, both the powered and unpowered units as well. OK, slightly more than the suggested retail of the time but hey, it's Jersey Transit, and you just don't see them anywhere. Kind of like Jersey Central articles, they come out and disappear quick, never to be seen again for years. Hey, I got REALLY lucky a couple of months ago and found an MTH Public Service (Of NJ) PCC trolley! I know they were made but never expected to see one, much less own one! Obviously I'm not there to see it first-hand but for filling the smoke unit see if you can find a Seuthe precision smoke unit filler at a local shop or maybe at York. It looks like a hypodermic needle. It's what I use on my Lionel GP20 since you can't use an eyedropper type without making a mess. Maybe JT's MegaSteam is making precision fillers now? I'm not sure on that. I can definately second your use of J+W's BCR's, I've installed them in all my PS-2 engines and for the peace of mind it's money well spent. I've never had a board issue with those BCR's installed. Sure it's not cheap, but you don't have to do it all at once. Will Lionel do any NJ Transit articles in the future? Let's put it this way, if they think they can make money on it they will but considering the way they're going I shudder to think of the retail price! Anyway, with those two GP40s and those four Comet cars that's one impressive train! I'd go ahead and put more cars on it, if the engine can't pull it it'll let you know. Great seeing you back ! Love your enthusiasm and maybe our courses will cross at York this October!

But, select lionel dealers do put some very, very nice and usual special runs together for us. Sadly. These special lionel runs come at a premium, often a large premium. Just hoping mth would do some unusual special runs. Special runs and special paint schemes do not seem to be offered by mth or atlas. Lets hope. Gary
