- How to Build a Cage Trap Part 3! This is the final video of this series! We add the pan and trigger mechanism to our cage trap. It was about 100 degrees outside when I filmed this, but I really wanted to finish this cage and get the content out to you guys. Don't forget to check out my giveaway video as well and as always like and subscribe.

Loved the three videos. As a trapper converting from snares to cage I found them extremely educational. Thank you for sharing. You ever wanna trap in Montana please reach out and I'd be honored to show you my country...
I am so glad you enjoyed the videos and found them useful! Thanks for watching! Hopefully you have a great season this year!
I made the cage after seeing your video. The bobcat had eaten 4 ducks out of 6 which were brought for my son for fun. After making the cage my son is playing with the bobcat...😀😀
LOL! That's awesome! Glad it helped!
Thanks for showing your cages, how to!
My pleasure!
Very well done. Def. going to do this.
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching!
I used a piece of Teflon instead of nail.then put a pad of Teflon on the bottom of the door for it to slide on Doesn’t Freeze. Doesn’t rust. Zero friction. All they have to do is breathe on the pan
That sounds pretty cool.
Thanks, great video
Glad to hear that you found it helpful! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing
No problem. Thanks for watching!
Mike, I was wondering if you could put up the template of your triangle trigger with size and measurements or let me know where you found it. Thanks so much!
Will do. I have a few out back in my shop. I'll take some pictures of it and put it on the community section
Just a tip, use angle iorn for your door lock. It basically makes it impossible for you lock to get flipped like it can sometimes with flat steel
Do you have a photo of how that is mounted? I was messing with that idea but couldn't get it to sit quite right. Hit me up on Instagram messenger.
Also I have seen your cage build video with the horse panel and loved it!
@@OutdoorMike I'll have to try and hit you up on FB but if you check out my s cond newest video of my double door guillotine I show them on that,
Sounds good. I'll check out that video. Thanks.
Thanks
Very good video....but how do you get a choke pole in that cage? need a different front dropper or something I guess.
I make my bars wide enough for it to slip through and then I don't wire all the way to the top of the door so that I can fit my choke pole in or you can not wire all the way across and use a gap on the side of the door.
Great videos. I bought a welder also. I do all my trap modifications. I just got done building 4 dz drags for my footholds. And built snare supports also. Bought a dz duke # 2 4 coil offset jaws. I laminated the jaws. Put the on 10 ft of chain with a 3 pd drag. I made them for bobcat trapping. I have made regular live traps with a frame. But never a framless. Can u reply and tell me exactly the wire and square tubing and angle iron sizes i will need too buy?
Hello! Glad you liked the videos!
The wire is 1"x1" 16 gauge wire
The tubing I use is half inch square tubing. That is for the top and bottom of the door.
The rails are 1.5inch x 3/4 inch tubing
And then I use 1x1 formed steel to attach the rails to the cage.
The cage bars are either 1/4 inch rebar or 1/4 inch cold rolled steel. Depending on what I can find.
So, now that you've built several...how long does it take yo from start to finish to build a cage?
Not including all the time spent sourcing and scrounging materials.
I think is about 3ish hours per cage. I usually build a few at a time so that is a loose estimate but ball park without interruptions(which never happens) 3ish hours.
I watch all the videos the only thing didn’t see how you made stopper for gate when fall down any help would be appreciated I have no clue where to place it or how it works Thank great video
Hey thanks for watching. I am not sure what you are asking. Are you wanting to know what keeps the door from coming back up, or are you asking what holds the door up until it drops?
If you are asking about the door stop, it is essentially a nail and flat piece of metal that hangs from it. So the door can fall and pushes it out of the way. But it rests over the top of the door and blocks the door from coming back up afterward. It's kind of hard to explain. But if you hit me up on my Facebook Group(link on my Banner) I can send you a few pictures of it.
@@OutdoorMike How to install the lock for cage to stay down for animals when in cage they can’t open it thanks for reply
I just posted a picture of it on the community tab for my channel. Check it out.
@@OutdoorMike Thanks
The wire I have is 32 inches will that work? Also Will this be a good size for foxes also
Yes, it will work. I have 1 cage that is 30 inches long, and I catch cats in it every year. Yes, these cages work great for foxes.
@@OutdoorMike thanks for the answer your videos are realy good and linformative
@@Rwdalme Thank you! I really appreciate it!
Nice
Did you ever post a picture of the trigger
Do you mean the cam on the side of the cage?
@@OutdoorMike yes sir and for some reason I can't find a 50 ft roll of 14 gauge wire do you have a scu number that you have ordered if so thanks
Yes. Check the community post/feed on my channel.
for god sakes , get a table to work on!!! my back hurts just watching this , great video by the way lol
Yeah. Wish I had a welding table. That would be awesome! Thanks for watching.
I put a 1 foot long pan in mine
I would be interested in how well it works.
Good job man and like your video if possible could I buy a trap off u
Hi, glad you liked the video! Unfortunately at this time I don't have any extra cages to sell. I just have the ones that I need for my trapping season this year. Thanks for watching!
How many bobcats do you catch ?
Last season 27. This season 16. It was an off year for me. But I did manage to catch 2 coyotes in my cage traps this year.
Whats the best way to deodorize trap before using
Spray them down with water. You can use an unscented soap. Then leave them out in the sun to dry. If you are going to repaint. Give them a least a week before the season sitting outside. Helps get the heavy paint smell off them.
@@OutdoorMike thanks
I COULD HEAR YOU BETTER WITHOUT THE MUSIC

How long does this take you start to finish?
So I have actually streamlined my process for this a little more and so to do the whole thing it is about 5 hours of work if I don't have any interruptions. Which with 4 kids is a very rare thing. LOL.That 5 hours includes getting set up and a bit of organizing the shop as well to get going. If I don't count that part it is probably closer to 4 hours.
