As an American that has been living in Bordeaux for 2 years, loved seeing the city through your eyes. I think you may have needed 2 more days! So sad that I missed seeing Les Frenchies in the wild! Please come back soon.
I just returned from a three week trip through Le Perigord and I can't wait to return - Bordeaux is wonderful! I loved everything about it. So much to do, wonderful people, fabulous restaurants. I visited Arcachon, Sarlat, Cahors, Toulouse, Lascaux, Rouffignac, St Emilion, and quite a few other places - even visited a black truffle farm. The trip of a lifetime.
Hi Antoine and Colleen! We are currently in Paris and your tips have helped us tremendously. We have been watching your channel for the past 16 months as we planned the trip, and the advice you have given has been the most valuable resource we've had, and we heartily thank you! Our 25th anniversary vacation has been wonderful! And I don't care what anyone says about French people being rude, they have all been nothing but kind, generous, and helpful to us. My wife got stuck when her Navigo card didn't work, and a kind lady used her card to help us through. We also approached the train station at Montparnasse from the back when we went to Versailles, and another kind lady walked us to where we needed to be. Amazing people.
I lived in Bordeaux for two years some time ago. It is an amazing city, one of the most beautiful in France, and in culinary terms, it is up there with the best. And I absolutely fell in love with cannelés: Not only are they my favourite Bordelais specialty, they have become my favourite French pastry.
(“Waiter! There’s a duck in my salad!” 😏) Seriously, there are so many areas outside of Paris I want to visit, and you guys are helping me make plans. 😎 I wouldn’t have thought a lobster that big would be so tasty! (I miss New England) And I definitely would visit La Cité du Vin - I love interactive museums.
Could you please tell me how I can get my best friend's address in Bordeaux. She disappeared from all social media accounts for 11 days and her number is also not working and I am from another country. Any suggestions how I can get in touch with her ! Police help or any government help or her number operator help
Also guys, I recommend visiting Toulouse (place du capitole, canal du midi, basilique st sernin) and the city of Carcasonne especially on 14th July when you can see the conflagration of the city
Hopped over to Provence without a thank you. Realizing what I did, or didn’t do, I hopped back. Oops! I believe the results will be the same so it should be fine. If not, I will try not to repeat that. This video, more than any of them, is an amazing reminder of how husband and I traveled together. It was like a mirror, thank you! I had forgotten. As the normal anger has faded (it took a year!!! He would have been 75 last week), this was probably the nicest way to pull up to something we both enjoyed. Travel and food and sharing a full dessert. Around the US. Husband and daughter both traveled and enjoyed international destinations (military leave, both of them) and were fluent in French but I have only flown over Canada to Alaska and and am just a typical English speaking American monoglot and will try to learn French but doubt my ability to converse in another language. Doesn’t matter except that our similarities gave me a smile and a warm fuzzy for the day and just want to thank you! Thanks!!!
Once I was in Bordeaux, and travelled to Arcachon nearby to try one of its restaurants for lunch. I couldn't find any seat. I should have made a reservation two weeks before leaving Paris!
Loved every second! I was guest artiste at Bordeaux Opera for 2 seasons in the 90’s. Winter….cold….and all I was worried about was my voice! Argh! Thanks you for showing me what I missed. Would adore to go back and explore. Did manage to take some bottles of St Emilion wine back to Germany with me! You 2 are so joyous in your eating and drinking! Would love to do a tour with you! Have you thought about it? Love to you ❤
❤Just returned from France Colleen and Antoine, unexpected: seeing French striped sweaters everywhere and thinking how Colleen has made it her brand! Your videos helped tremendously in my solo journey, also discovered a very helpful resource I had never considered: the French Tourism Bureaus: they were fabulous: helped me arrange Loire Castle trips, trains, and even called cabs for me. And with a big smile and friendliness every time. This incredible resource deserves a video. I lived in France and have been traveling here 20 years and sorry I did not consider using it until this trip. It made my Loire Valley visit easy and effortless. Thank you Colleen and Antoine for what you are doing to make French Travel fabulous ❤❤❤❤
I was in Bordeaux for the first time last year en route to the Lascaux caves. I want to go back and explore even more. Also note about the tram system. There is no overhead catenary to supply power to spoil the city views. It uses a power pickup system between the rails which energize only when a tram is present. It's ingenious.
Je suis français, j’habite Bordeaux et je regarde vos vidéos avec un grand plaisir!! Vous êtes radieux et certainement très sympathiques!! Vous avez un nouveau fan!
Yet another stellar video! We flew back to California from CDG just two weeks ago, and we'd fly right back to France if we could. We'll add Bordeaux to next Fall's itinerary, without a doubt.
Again, you've hit another home run with this one. It's about a 10 hour drive for us from Tuscany so it's easily done. It's now on our French bucket list. Again, merci!
A ten-hour drive would drive me nuts.🤪 I can only 90 minutes max at a time because of back pain. 😮 Aren't there any train options between Florence and Bordeaux?🤔
As a Maitre D'hotel , i can say Bordeaux and his region is incredible . You propably did the best "Bordeaux experience" in this video :) You should absolutely try to travel in the Gers Department . Best Duck food Ever of the Europe in Samatan The only department without HighSpeed Way in France so landscapes are stunning and ofc : Armagnac :) Love your Video
I'm absolutely delighted to see you do such a terrific video about my favorite city in the world. I did a double-take at 1:25 when you turned the corner onto Rue d'Aviau. Talk about memories -- I lived on that street, a block from your rental apartment, when I was in my early 20s. By the way, rum is typically a key ingredient in canelés de Bordeaux.
I also remember that all the restaurants in front of the railway station had a dozen oysters among the starters for the menu, and all their menus were very good for a reasonable price.
Bordeaux has the look and feel of a warmer, sunnier Paris. All that 18th century stone and river-setting, you could be forgiven for thinking the first few Parisian arrondissements had been dragged 200 miles south. Bordeaux clearly is lovely; open, but with a manageable feeling of ‘see all my important bits in a day’. All it really lacked was a core of tightly packed narrow streets opening out onto a few squares and perhaps a nice Plaza Mayor centrepiece. Everything seemed like I was wandering around the French version of Edinburgh’s New Town when I wanted a bit of tumbledown Old Town magic too!
Your comments on Bordeaux and why you liked it make me think you would enjoy Montreal as well. Same great food + great vibe + completely unpretentious vibe. It's not France, but I've noticed family coming from the UK to visit are always surprised at how "French" it is. And they are called chocolatines here, as well!
Bonjour Frenchies! I took a day trip to Bordeaux last year and I loved it. As you suggest it’s an easy day trip from Paris and the food and the sights are so worth it. I spent over an hour meandering through the tranquil and gorgeous Jardin Public. The public transportation is a dream, a day pass was only €5. I want to go back and visit the Cité du Vin now! And yes, one must try a cannelé! Merci pour une autre vidéo inspirante!
Perfect timing! My husband and I are in Paris for a month and going to Bordeaux tomorrow returning Wednesday evening, glad to learn about the city pass and get a couple restaurant recommendations. Thanks for all you do. Lunch today at Chez Rene was superb.
As an expatriate Frenchie you made me feel so nostalgic. I am back (no too far) soon and will rampage the restaurants, brasseries and bouchons once back ! and loads of wine, c'est la vie !!
This is one of your best. Love this 48 hour format. Please make more travel videos like this. I loved Paris but felt a little lost as to what to in other locations. This makes me want to go to Bordeaux!
Bonjour Antoine and Colleen. I was getting worried that something happened to you when I woke up this morning and you hadn’t posted. Great side trip. What a seafood platter. Another opportunity awaits. Merci😊
I've been planning a trip to Bordeaux for so long. I live in the UK, so there's no reason not to put it on my list for the next visit to the continent. I was so envious when I saw you eating that meal. Looked delicious. So grateful you made the trip and the video, thanks again . . . Kevin
Amazing! What a beautiful city. I've just recently added Bordeaux to my list, but seeing the seafood and original macarons has made me push it higher on that list!
Canale are incredibly trendy in Japan right now, and I was wondering how they were made. My opinion of them is exactly like Antoine’s! I love that you guys are so frank. This was an amazing trip! Thanks so much! Kisses from Kyoto!❤
Another great and super informative video from Les Frenchies that captures the real highlights of a destination. This one brings back fond memories of my visit to Bordeaux and St Emilion a couple of years ago. I just wish that I'd seen this video before I went! (Co-incidentally, we sat in Le Bouchon in St Emilion at almost the same table as yours - a fab cafe terrace in one of the town's squares and with great food and wine.) Thanks again. I love your channel and your presentations. I'm sure that they are so helpful for so many people.
I absolutely love you guys. Just got back from Paris and I was super excited to visit 80% of the places you guys recommended ❤❤❤ Thank you so much for this❤
Hello Les Frenchies. As a French (and a Bordelais) I still love how you show the French life. That video made me love my city even more 😁 P.S: Cannelés does have Rhum in them 😊
We love watching your videos and are wholly inspired to travel by them. Our only concern is that a job hazard of indulgence includes heart attack. It’s hard to watch you struggling to climb stairs. We want to watch you for a long time. Please stay happy and healthy!
That reminds me of a time when we were in Paris and my colleague ordered a seafood tower. It had many good things on it, but also had a lot a raw things, including Cockles and Winkles. Even though he didn't like many of the items, because it cost him €50, so he struggled through it. It was so funny to watch him eating the things he didn't like.
Just brilliant. Champagne is now one of my bosses go to drink for meals ,eek, he is now champagne, and is now scouring the video and shredding his credit card buying wines as advised by his new virtual friends from France. Thanks from a sunny London.
Oh so amazing! I don’t even need to leave my house to travel to France because of you. I was having wine tonight and would cheer my phone screen every time you guys would cheer! 😂 Love from LA ❤❤
I absolutely loved this video - really want to visit Bordeaux and St Emillion. Ooh the wine -it’s calling me! Not that much a fan of seafood or cassoulet for that matter but yes the wine! x
I enjoyed the friendly, humorous banter between this lovely couple. They gave concise, relevant advice and really whetted one’s appetite for a visit to Bordeaux. Thank you for giving us an in-depth, intelligent tour of this city.. ❣️
What a lovely city! Known for their wines..Bordeaux is also architecturally beautiful..and obviously a gourmet paradise. I was salivating for the cassoulet, the scallops and porcino mushroom ravioli, the lobster and champaign. Could have eaten any plate you enjoyed. Perhaps Bordeaux is a location where one can live for a year then move on to another city...Strasbourg?...to truly experience France. Thanks again for this engrossing experience...looking forward to the next ride. 😊
Looking forward to my first trip to France in o e month. I will have to pretend to conduct an orchestra when tasting, like Antoine does. That makes me laugh every time.
I am french, living in Paris and i looooove watching your content. It's so clear that you love this country and you make it radiate through your videos. Bravo à vous :)
Just back from Bordeaux, found this video VERY helpful! Had breakfast at Gllm Guillaume bakery near Gambetta, dinner in La Brasserie Bordelaise, bought the 7-day TBM pass at the airport and used it all the time, a beautiful city and well worth a visit.
I’m currently in Paris for the next few days! Really appreciate your videos! Lots of tips helped me and my mom out . We are going to Versailles tomorrow 😊
During the past few decades, me and my family have been all around France but not Bordeaux. Thus it is high on my bucket list. Having said that, not sure if I would ever get a chance being in Tokyo. Touche.
Hi guys! Thank you for coming down to Bordeaux (my new home) and doing a video. Looks like you enjoyed your couple of days here. I moved from PA in the US in March 2023 and prior to my move used your Paris videos for some dining tips, thank you for those! I'm retired now from the world of broadcasting in the US and love living here in France. If you come to Bordeaux again it would be a pleasure to meet you and of course I will share my finds here. There are so many great places to both visit and dine.
hi guys- just want to say my wife and I LOVE all your videos. You have inspired us to go to Paris in the next few weeks. Quick question if I may. Where in PARIS did you catch the train for Bordeaux and what stop do we take the train to in Bordeaux?
We just finished our four days in Bordeaux. It is fabulous. Last night we dined at Le Carré, and the scallops were as you described. Great recommendation!
Duck, true! And your oysters! But you must go out to Arcachon to try the oysters next time! They have darces/darses, which are sheds where they sell oysters! And la Grande Dune du Pilat/Pyla!

Note to self: Never, never ever, watch Les Frenchies on an empty stomach! Man, that video was such a pleasure to watch. Thank you.
ahah they so celebrate French food ! Love them !
Haha 😅
Antoine is the best conductor. He directs the orchestra of food in front of him with perfect harmonies.
He is great. Thanks for making me laugh.
As an American that has been living in Bordeaux for 2 years, loved seeing the city through your eyes. I think you may have needed 2 more days! So sad that I missed seeing Les Frenchies in the wild! Please come back soon.
Agree! I was there for 5 days and could have stayed 5 more!,

Beautiful area!!! Will you do a trip to Alsace? Very curious about that region with German/French roots.
That's the plan!
Loved the Audrey Tautou-ish waitress near the end!

Interesting, in my area of France noone wears striped tops!!
It's seasonal, however I saw them in Paris Store windows in a winter wool version. In October this year.
Bordeaux just moved up on my list of places to visit. 😊 Wonderful video! ❤

Although it took a very very long time to get reliable .. LEs bordelais remember it so well ;)
Can I ask how you travelled to the caves
Going to Bordeaux in two weeks and would love to see the caves
@@NoelQuinn-s8j You can get close by train but it's easier to rent a car in Bordeaux.

This one brings back fond memories of my visit to Bordeaux and St Emilion a couple of years ago. I just wish that I'd seen this video before I went!

Beautiful! ❤ The food! Oh my goodness, mouthwatering. What is the symbol of your necklace? It’s very pretty, just curious.
Love you guys. Thks for ur videos
