A documentary filmed from September to October 1988 that features the preview of the pre-release of the fourth album PEACE IN OUR TIME at The Soviet Embassy in London, then travelling to play five shows at Moscow's Palace Of Sports in The Soviet Union.
Big Country were invited to play at The Soviet Embassy in London as part of the launch of the fourth album PEACE IN OUR TIME. Following their performance a press conferance was held to announce that Big Country would play five concerts in Moscow as part of Glasnost (Openness & Transparency) which would be the first concert ever in Soviet Union that wasn't promoted by The Soviet Government, but by an independant promoter.

How strange this looks, one generation later. Apart from weird haircuts, and FSD agents at the embassy in grey suits with undescribable glasses. BC were a terrific band with such a lot of crossover potential. Even though I understand the FSB chap better than Stuart with his accent :-)
"Give us peace in our time" is the what makes it topical, regrettably yet again. A wonderful insight in times of change and hope, on all sides. Such a tragedy that Stuart saw no way out, but he wouldn't like today's news. RIP.

I came to see footage of revolutionary country, but I did not expect the men and scenes from Britain to be so alien either. Both countries have really gone to pot.

Great! I met Gorbachev and I thought he was an extraordinary man, warm and he cared. Not an easy job but he probably made more changes than anyone else. Now look at Russia...
