This was a great explanation Nash. Its funny how many fads and gimmicks the bodybuilding community has put out over the decades, and yet none of these diets or supplements has produced a physique as aesthetically pleasing as the type of physiques you used to see in Arnold's era and earlier - a time period before supplements and meal replacements were widely available. A simple diet is all that is necessary to produce great definition, because for centuries - going all the way back to ancient Rome and Greece - you see sculptures of men and the statues of gods these ancient cultures worshiped, which showed impressively defined and strong looking bodies. The artists who made these statues, while probably having some artistic license to exaggerate, where using real life people as models. Hence, there had to people back then that were this muscular or defined, and these people did not have access to protein shakes, amino acid pills, BCAAs, chromium picolinate, etc. etc. Most of them did not even have the luxury of being able to eat 3 times a day. The bodybuilding industry over complicates the process of building a good physique, not because science or common sense demonstrates that their ideas have any efficacy, but because it is a way to sell products. Nash, I really appreciate you bringing clarity to this.

You are spot on my friend! When I first started dieting for my first show, I could not believe how little food was necessary to support my two workouts a day! In the beginning I thought that I'm going to vanish, but as time went on, I realised that we just need enough food, not to much. Arnold and the guys from seventies and eighties were doing exactly that, they were following their instincts. They did not know as much as we know today, but they used their feelings to guide them, and ergo, their bodies were immaculate. You cannot compere them to modern trend in bodybuilding as guys now look simply said...

Thank you my friend. Well, I write and talk about things the way I feel and I know about. We live in the world driven by profit, and food industry as well as supplement industry are in the same game. Best, N

Arnold actually did do some cardio but didn’t tell anyone about it at the time since he thought it gave him an edge. Roger Callard says he and Arnold would run from Arnold’s apartment down to the beach which was on a slight decline. They ran pretty fast for about 15 mins in the early evenings.

Well, I did cardio for years religiously and struggled to get in top shape... Then I learn more about physiology and stoped cardio, trained twice a day and payed more attention to low carb diet, and BOOM! I ended up wining shows...

If I want to be 200 lbs, would introducing complex carbs such as rice, potatoes or oats be okay? I am currently 170 lbs with some muscle but I want to be a physique bodybuilder.

Hey I got a question, I’m following the carnivore diet/Gluconeogenesis diet like serge Nubret.
I have a odd teaspoon of honey sometimes
    After workout and at night.
Do you think I should still do 1 or 2 high carb meals every 4 days? And because I’m doing the carnivore could I use yogurt and honey instead of like rice or pasta?

Hi Gavin. I'm not much in favour of honey... It is good for the bees, but not for us. I would stick to foods that low glycemic index (meat, fish, eggs, salads, veg, and a bit of nuts). You don't pasta or rice at all times, but occasionally (every 3- 10 days) depending on an individual, you can have a meal or two a day of some pasta or rice with a bit of meat if you need to. You will have to experiment and find out what works for you. Best, N

The introduction music to your video is Far and Away, the most obnoxious I've ever heard on UA-cam! And I watch a lot of videos every day! If it's within your control, you absolutely should change it! If there are any ads or sponsors information in that first 45 seconds, people like me will completely miss it by skipping ahead every single time.
