- Imagine a world where motorsports is sustainable. Where the tires on our race cars are made from a plant, not petroleum. That world is closer than you think, thanks to Guayule.
In this video, we tour Bridgestone's Guayule farm and learn how this shrub-like plant is turned into rubber. Then we get to see the tires in action in Nashville, at the Music City Grand Prix.
I learned so much while filming this video, and I'm so excited to share this amazing story. Thank you to Bridgestone for partnering with the NTT INDYCAR series and investing in Guayule, with the goal of a more sustainable future.

A little background on Guayule:
The United States doesn't have a natural source of rubber, so we create synthetic rubber (with petroleum) or import it from other countries, spending roughly $2 billion a year.
But that can all change with Guayule.
Guayule is a drought-resistant, heat-tolerant woody desert shrub native to northern Mexico and the southwestern United States.
It's not currently a commercial crop, so Bridgestone has invested in creating the first Guayule farm, creating the infrastructure and paving the way for other farmers to replicate and sell it as a commercially viable crop.
The end goal is easy to visualize: independent farmers growing Guayule, creating a bigger supply of Guayule-made rubber, and creating more eco-friendly tires around the world. Because if Guayule rubber works on the track, it will work for our daily commuters.
IndyCar has been dedicated to making this sport more environmentally friendly, like powering their cars with Shell's 100% Renewal Race Fuel or by recycling race fluids with Safety Kleen. But their investment in Guayule-made tires has the ability to not only make this sport more sustainable, but the world.
That’s my dad!!! I am so glad you got to see the process of this and the amazing work being done.
I am so proud of my dad and all the work he has done ❤
❤❤❤❤
no way!! he was the best, enjoyed talking with him so much
@@dylanefron yes! Russ is my dad and he is the absolute greatest. It’s awesome you got to see a part of it. It’s crazy to think those seeds turn into tires - I remember when I visited his work - such an eye opener on the process.
Very cool you met one of the most extraordinary men on this planet and also cool you got experience first hand the amazing work being done out in Eloy!
Thanks for tagging along with #INDYCAR 🏎
I love formula 1, but getting this insight in Indycar is so informative! Thank you for sharing, Dylan!
“Yeah, science”!!! Arizona guy so cool, also makes operating the tractor and machinery much simpler than it probably is.
Thanks, Dylan, for covering this important topic and visiting Arizona! Come back some time and we'll review all the ways growing this desert shrub carries with it many benefits for our growers and the planet. Many beneficial species call guayule home including the impressive numbers of natural predators like the crab spiders we showed you!
Dylan thank you so much for sharing all this experiences with us 🙏🙏 I hope one day we can make an adventure together ❤️
Congratulations Dylan would never have known about this without you 🤯 it's amazing to have people concerned about our planet such interesting subjects thank you 😘
Bro just found your channel and this is absolutely sick!!! It's like the SLOCAL version of Jon Olsson haha except you take a deeper, more informative dive into things! This is the life I'm working towards! Just graduated college and now trying to build this kind of life so thanks for the inspo!!!
ah thanks bro! stoked you enjoy it, get after it and keep chasing the things you love and have passion for
This is so cool and so smart, i am loving watching these educational videos ❤
Awesome! Livin the dream. Would love to take part in doing stuff like this.
Hell yea hot af bro 😎💯💯💯
This was so interesting and cool! What blows my mind is like how was someone inspired to look at this plant and come to the conclusion you can make rubber from it?!?!
it was first explored during WW2 when our rubber supply was getting cut off, but then all the research was abandoned pretty much once the war ended
Have to admit a video about tyres and car racing was not very appealing to me but I found this so interesting! What an amazing incentive! Wouldn’t it be great if all tyres could be made this way! Thanks for sharing ❤
yep! can’t say i didn’t think the same. but i was so stoked to learn about it, and their passion for what they do is contagious
Hello Dylan sir❤ . Why zac isn't uploading any video on UA-cam . We really miss him 🥺 is he busy ?
This is really cool Dylan! ❤️Did you explore more things in Nashville? I’ve never been there, but I heard it’s a fun city!
we went out to dinner with some cool people and walked Broadway after, it’s a great city. always excited to go back
@@dylanefron yeah I wanna go there someday! I want to explore like all the old recording studios and such haha I wanna travel everywhere
