Lived in New Caledonia for many years and had a few of these in my back yard I actually nursed an injured one back to health after a cyclone and ended up keeping her as a pet for 7 years ! These are truly incredible creatures and they are called tree devils by the locals because of the canine like vocalizations they can make which can be pretty frightening in the middle of the night. Turned out one of their favorite food was banana flavored baby food and it's what the zoo keepers in the reptile section of the Parc Forestier (New Caledonia Zoo) fed their specimens ! I actually really miss being able to see these in the wild and hear their vocalizations in the night !
I think it's really smart how they're going about getting them used to each other. It's almost like when you try to get cats acquainted. They really take all the extra steps to make sure there's the least possible aggression
Pretty awesome animals, and I think it's very kool that they don't cross em and keep the lines pure! Don't see that much at all in the business, lot people out there betting on a crap shoot hoping for a"pretty" 1 and doesn't always work that way. More power to the Nimmers love the dedication!!! Keep em coming Dav.
it’s unbelievable to me that you can somewhat change the sex of the hatchlings by raising or lowering the temperature during incubation. wow. just seems so crazy to me
Touch wood but my leachie is fantastic he’s lovely even the tokay - it’s easy if you tame them but if you have loads you don’t handle them the same they won’t act the same
I lived in new caledonia for 6 years an I never heard about the islands you speak of at the end. Small detail also, there is no "s" in Mont Koghi, sometimes you see people writing it monts Koghis, but it is less common. Really hard to find them in the wild, very nice specimens you've got there!
Thanks for the information! I'm planning a trip to New Caledonia and would like to ask you a few things if you have a moment. Can you please email me at herperstv@gmail.com. Thanks!
He says "...I turned around and bought a snake" . Why did he turn around before he bought a snake? Is it some kind of tradition or ritual? Does he turn around every time he buys a snake? Does he turn around before buying other species too? Or was he just facing the wrong way?
So with Leachies it´s basically the same problem as with Bcc and Bci? Where many people cross every locale and you have to look far and wide for a person who you can be sure would only sell "pure bred" animals? Pretty sad to be honest. In my opinion, we should keep the different local forms seperated, because it would be a shame if we lost the diversity..
Great Video!! But what are those little white bugs crawling all over the eggs that she was showing..? it was at 10:45-10:55, there were tiny whitish bugs crawling on both eggs... are they harmless or some sort of parasite? Those dividers we're a really good idea when doing the introduction, they can get really nasty to each other if the process is rushed.
Those are springtails! They're little bugs that eat mold and help poop n stuff break down. They're harmless! :D SerpaDesigns has a great video on them!
I was told that a female leachie will continue to produce eggs even without a male around in that she has absorbed the sperm and maintains it as a supply is that correct?
Strange in all my years I thought Ls were supposed to be super chill and docile but I’m noticing a lot of ppl saying the are a bit agro, I must have missed something.
jdssurf lose interest. Like if u ate a chopped up grape at 1 year old. At 20 years old are you gonna eat a chopped up grape or a fat ass steak. 😆 leachie went from crickets to pinky mice. More everything. But mine doesnt eat live food period. Its picky.
So many breeders focus on pure breeding so much they pay no attention to outbreeding different bloodlines (same locale). Breeding your animals into a genetic bottleneck is very irresponsible. Did anyone learn anything from the viper gecko problem?
The guy seems to genuinely care about his reptiles but I wish they didn't have to live in such small quarters. In the wild they would cover a lot of ground and it makes me sad to see them deprived of that freedom.

I love that youre keeping them pure. I love the main island kind. Big n darker colors

I’ve been contemplating for my next reptile a leachie but I don’t know way to much about them but this helped a lot thank you!
it’s unbelievable to me that you can somewhat change the sex of the hatchlings by raising or lowering the temperature during incubation. wow. just seems so crazy to me
Great info didn't even know what a lichee was . Great interview
Touch wood but my leachie is fantastic he’s lovely even the tokay - it’s easy if you tame them but if you have loads you don’t handle them the same they won’t act the same

I know, right?
I’ve always wanted a Leachianus but simply don’t have the money for the lizard itself... it sucks, but maybe sometime I can afford one in the future
Fantastic video!!! Can you do an episode about different jobs involved in the reptile world and the education needed!!
Thanks! Will do!
Great show m8 its bout time for this it's been long due🤙🏻
Thanks!

you have some of the best reptile content on youtube, hands down. so glad i found this channel.
Thank you! Glad you did too!
Stupid question but is there a specific marker that should be used on eggs ? Can perm marker harm the baby?
Omg they're sooo beautiful
Dude, so epically jealous!
Great video!!! Thanks for sharing :)
Thanks!
Woah, can crested geckos actually live 18 years? Had no idea their lifespans could be that long.
He says "...I turned around and bought a snake" . Why did he turn around before he bought a snake? Is it some kind of tradition or ritual? Does he turn around every time he buys a snake? Does he turn around before buying other species too? Or was he just facing the wrong way?
what are the little bugs crawling on the eggs at like 11:08?
those are absolutely gorgeous!!!! silver eyes on evergreen skin!?! mmmmmmmmhmm!
Are those guys night hunters ? ( because of the shape of them eyes ! )
yes
Do they still sell leachies? If, so where can I find them?
So with Leachies it´s basically the same problem as with Bcc and Bci?
Where many people cross every locale and you have to look far and wide for a person who you can be sure would only sell "pure bred" animals?
Pretty sad to be honest. In my opinion, we should keep the different local forms seperated, because it would be a shame if we lost the diversity..
Agreed!
Totally agree. Im having a hard time searching for any even listed as a pure locale
Wait what's wrong with breeding from different locales
Hi, which seems to be more aggressive most of the time, the male or female?
Wow im as old as the crested gecko😂
I'd wear gloves 2 to pick them look like they pack a nice bite
Is Phil Tremper the person who first bred the Tremper leopard geckos?
Yes it is.
no its Ron Tremper
My goal is to have to use a blender to feed my leachies.
Love it !!
Another great vlog Dav
Thanks!
Around 11:00 you can see bugs crawling on the eggs . Is this normal?
Which leachie would you say is the least aggressive?
Are bays leachianus difficult to keep ?
Great Video!! Good eye. Not sure to be honest, but they are obviously harmless to the eggs.
Those are springtails! They're little bugs that eat mold and help poop n stuff break down. They're harmless! :D SerpaDesigns has a great video on them!
Hi!
Can you make Uroplatus episode!
Love your videos!
Great suggestion! I will!
I really really really want one! But they are so exspensive!!
But worth it :)
the most used word in this episode is "around" ahahahha
He said it's a patterned yate 😂😂 someone's pulling your leg
This is not relevant but my created gecko isn’t drinking water I feel like it’s skin is dry and dehydrated please help me
I was told that a female leachie will continue to produce eggs even without a male around in that she has absorbed the sperm and maintains it as a supply is that correct?
It can be, but it's not a rule to go by
How do taste ?
Strange in all my years I thought Ls were supposed to be super chill and docile but I’m noticing a lot of ppl saying the are a bit agro, I must have missed something.
jdssurf this comes as a surprise to me too. That sucks.
I think they are quite cage aggressive but as soon as they come out they chill out.
Super cool oove your videos 😍
Thanks!
LOL I bought my first snake from Jon's Jungle in July.
Nice!
9:32 "taste?!" wtf lmao
Must be more reasoning why the stop going after crickets, anyone else have thoughts on that?
jdssurf lose interest. Like if u ate a chopped up grape at 1 year old. At 20 years old are you gonna eat a chopped up grape or a fat ass steak. 😆 leachie went from crickets to pinky mice. More everything. But mine doesnt eat live food period. Its picky.
LEACHIES!!!!
Pretty awesome !☺
Thanks!
What are the most placid Leachies as a rule?

Do they have a website? How can I buy one?
Search their names on FB, I'm sure they'd be happy to hook you up!
I’m on Facebook look up Dwane Nimmer or Pam Nimmer
Why are they doing an episode on my sister
Tiny bug on the egg 10:48
Wow, I see why they're so expensive!
You can do a video on my mom, amazing reptile that one...
Or Hillary Clinton . . she's an excellent lucefarian reptilian!
So many breeders focus on pure breeding so much they pay no attention to outbreeding different bloodlines (same locale). Breeding your animals into a genetic bottleneck is very irresponsible. Did anyone learn anything from the viper gecko problem?
Should come by my place, I've got tons of Leachies
Exotic Creations how about that yate with bars 👌👌😂😂
Tyler Daly no comment lol
Hi
Hi
I like leachies but seriously they need way better cages poor breeder learned how to care for a reptile cage properly
The guy seems to genuinely care about his reptiles but I wish they didn't have to live in such small quarters. In the wild they would cover a lot of ground and it makes me sad to see them deprived of that freedom.
If the crickets look small to them, try dubias. Duh
She explained why she doesn't do this.
I was yelling that to my phone 😂
dump the shirt, your government breeds terror.. not a good look
Gino Foogle you sir have no respect.
