Their camouflage is near perfect! You could easily miss one unless you're right up close to it! It's really interesting how the male watches the nest! Great insight into their behavior!
Thank you so much for going to New Caledonia and documenting these amazing geckos in the wild! That place really is paradise, I'm looking forward to see leachie's in the wild part 2!
Awesome Awesome video man! Again I think this proves Darwin's theories of Natural selection - The differences between the locals and how they have adapted.
I would have liked to have seen some temp and humidity readings from all the islands. I assume since it wasn't mentioned they are relatively the same as in the first crested gecko video?
I loved this video!!! I wish there were more .. this was so interesting, especially the male over the eggs. That would b pretty cool if he actually was guarding those!
Really awesome insight on how they live, great video. The male hanging out protecting the eggs is awesome. Lots of knowledge to learn on these islands on just how to keep these awesome reptiles alive in captivity.
More awesome stuff Dãv! The thing that I’ve noticed in this series is just how bright New Caledonia can be. I always endeavour to provide UVB to all of my animals, but looking at this I think that it’s a factor that needs propelling into the main stream even more than it has been already.
Congrats man! With this new channel you now have the best reptile channel on youtube. Outstanding video! How in the hell does it not have 10,000 views a day? I just don't get it.
Dāv Kaufman's Reptile Adventures it’s really a shame. I happened to notice too and I was shocked. It can really help if we share these videos. I’m thinking UA-cam is definitely ruled by teens 😉
This is why I think it's good to have both a tall and a wide enclosure, so you can have that vertical space, but also the horizontal space. I've observed my Leachie being horizontal a lot.
i can't help but think their ancestors were a mix between gecko's and monitors. they look like both. amazing you found this male guarding the nest and that pidgeon? just told you you disturbed his nap lol.
I have a pair of Brosse Island Leachies. My male hangs upside down above the nest box every time my female lays a clutch. That's usually how I know she has laid. Cool to see that in the wild as well. Bob
Thanks for the awesome video Dāv! I think the behaviors you are documenting are groundbreaking and it is so awesome to see a reptile enthusiast doing this.
Thanks! I hope people keep in mind that although these are cool observations, it isn't part of an actual study, but I'd love to see someone do a complete study of what our observations may be suggesting.
THAT NEST DUDE!!!!! YOU KNOW HOW LONG THERE'S BEEN CONTROVERSY OVER WHETHER CERTAIN SPECIES GUARD THEIR NEST???? THIS IS THE GREATEST FIND OF YOUR LIFE. PUBLISH! I hope you left a human to guard the nest when you removed the father...
Man they are awesome and they camouflage very well with the trees! I probably will have to own one of these one day! Thanks for doing what you do I really enjoy these episodes!
I work with three leachies and I have noticed before that they don't utilize the top half of their verticle enclosures. Now I definitely want to try to see if they'll take to horizontal enclosures instead. Loved this vid!
Awesome video Dav! Really nice information and documentated images for leachies fans. Your whole channel and your lifestyle is amazing. I hope i can see you on Hamm show in Germany!
WOW you have given me an entirely new appreciation for the Leachianus. I've always been more of a Leo kinda guy. Yet I might look into getting a pair or 2 of the Pine Island Leacies.
1:28 Hmm, There’s something familiar about one of those islands. (Gasp) Now I remember, it looks like one of those places filmed for Walking With Dinosaurs. The BBC series WWD actually. I think it was the 3rd episode “Cruel Seas”.
This was THE BEST! Wow to catch that behavior, I have never heard of the males guarding the eggs, incredible! Did you see many in the daytime? What would be your take on the UVB that they receive in the wild? I have a Nu Anna so I can't wait to see what comes next! Thank you for such a informative video on an incredible species.
What an awesome adventure and to see them up close like that, they are definitely a kool animal! What a shame you have to work so hard in such terrible places!! LOL Lookin forward to the next episode!
I LOVE ALL YOUR VIDEOS!! Since you've been to New Caledonia and the other islands can you tell me what fruit trees and other fruits grow on those islands? I've been trying to find out for quite some time now. BTW I keep and breed crested geckos
Loving these videos!! Amazing seeing the moro male guarding eggs. My male gets more defensive than my female when I go to retrieve eggs. Have you seen or taken any videos of gargoyle geckos on the island? I would love to see them.
I like what you said at the end of the video like make it that way there's either a horizontal display or a vertical display what I do if I ever get a lychee is I am going to make it so that way it's both like I would combine a horizontal display with a vertical display and make like a whole entire huge habitat does my opinion if anyone has some tips please reply to my comment
Awesome videos ? Is there somewhere would we would be able to see the locales on a map with its abbreviated name coinciding with morph type ? Like Isle E, D etc ?
I get bit all the time, but didn't get clipped at all from these guys. Most bites comes from improper handling. If the animal is scared, they will bite. Handling them with caution and care is the best practice.
I was wondering my mail eyelash gecko tend to stick around when my female was laying eggs before I start separating my geckos during breeding season but he never did interfere in her laying eggs so that is really cool
It was certainly an interesting behavior we witnessed however without further investigation it's hard to conclude if that's actually what we witnessed.
Awesome video! Loved seeing them in their natural environment. Leachies is definitely a gecko I would love in the future.
Thank you!
I’m subscribed to you
Yay!!! Leopard Gecko Talk!!!
Their camouflage is near perfect! You could easily miss one unless you're right up close to it!
It's really interesting how the male watches the nest! Great insight into their behavior!
I really wonder how many we walked past because they were standing still?
I can't believe how many of them you found! And even a nest! So amazing. I was also really surprised at how tiny those islands actually are.
They were actually really common. I was surprised how small they were too and how different one island is from the next.
OMG!!! That is so amazing. I can't believe how docile the wild leachies are.
Thanks! They weren't actually. I had to wait until they calmed before I filmed them.
Hands down my favorite reptile youtuber no one else comes close
Thanks John! Comments like this make all the hard work worthwhile!
Clints gotta be close second
Thank you so much for going to New Caledonia and documenting these amazing geckos in the wild! That place really is paradise, I'm looking forward to see leachie's in the wild part 2!
Awesome! So glad you are enjoying the vids!
Awesome Awesome video man! Again I think this proves Darwin's theories of Natural selection - The differences between the locals and how they have adapted.
Agreed!
I'm Japanese! This video is very cool!I saw the wildness of New Caledonia for the first time!Thank you so much.
Thanks for watching!
amazing research, thank you for documenting and sheding valuable info...
Thanks for tuning in!
I would have liked to have seen some temp and humidity readings from all the islands. I assume since it wasn't mentioned they are relatively the same as in the first crested gecko video?
I thought it was amazing how you just put the gekco back and found a NEST!
We were blown away!
I just got my second leachie. A pure Brosse. I was so excited to see an actual wild Brosse living it’s best life. Thanks for this amazing video!!
I loved this video!!! I wish there were more .. this was so interesting, especially the male over the eggs. That would b pretty cool if he actually was guarding those!
I forsee this being a channel where every video is just going to blow you away. So much imformation and sights to take in. Thank you.
Thank you! That's awesome of you to say so!
i love these geckos they always look so happy lol
just a home run of a video, man. i really enjoyed this. kudos!
Thanks! Glad you did!
Really awesome insight on how they live, great video. The male hanging out protecting the eggs is awesome. Lots of knowledge to learn on these islands on just how to keep these awesome reptiles alive in captivity.
Thanks! Part 2 coming on Thursday
Thank you for putting him back where you found him. I truly appreciate your perspective about never needing to take them from the wild again.
The water there is gorgeous!! It looks so clean.
Going to prepare an enclosure to get a leachy this summer.... this video is a great source for decorating and planting the enclosure. Thanks dāv!
More awesome stuff Dãv! The thing that I’ve noticed in this series is just how bright New Caledonia can be. I always endeavour to provide UVB to all of my animals, but looking at this I think that it’s a factor that needs propelling into the main stream even more than it has been already.
I agree, and it really was. See my peeling, burnt face? :)
This is so awesome dude thanks for doing this.
Congrats man! With this new channel you now have the best reptile channel on youtube. Outstanding video! How in the hell does it not have 10,000 views a day? I just don't get it.
Thanks Martin! It all has to do with UA-cam's algorithm unfortunately.
Thank you for giving us all the opportunity to see the animals in the wild. It's so amazing....
i can't help but think their ancestors were a mix between gecko's and monitors. they look like both. amazing you found this male guarding the nest and that pidgeon? just told you you disturbed his nap lol.
an absoloutely beautiful and interesting video , thanks !
Thank you!
How could you just go up to a WILD leachie and hold him in your hand?!? I am amazed!
They were all super chill on every island
I have a pair of Brosse Island Leachies. My male hangs upside down above the nest box every time my female lays a clutch. That's usually how I know she has laid. Cool to see that in the wild as well. Bob
That's really interesting. I wonder how many behaviors people see, but don't mention because they don't want to get ridiculed for it.
Love this video, and your entire format. Can't wait for the next video. Rattle on brother.
Thanks Levi! Rattle On!
Freaking Awesome video, I just love them guys! Maybe one day I'll have one of my own.
Glad you enjoyed
LOVED this video Dav!! Leachies are one of my favorites. I witnessed my male brosse protecting my female laying eggs this evening. Super cool to see!
Glad you enjoyed it
THAT NEST DUDE!!!!!
I love this series of your adventures! Please don't stop!! More new discoveries, please, thank you :)

I love the cresties and the leechies! But wow! The sea Krait is what intrigued me the most!
Did you see the sea krait episode?
Thank you for making these videos! It's fascinating to see the behavior of these creatures in the wild!

It was so cool to see them in the wild!
Omg I love this videos! So much husbandry tips to improve ❤️
Thank you! Please feel free to share!
Absolutely beautiful and amazing. So much food for thought.
awesome video! Once again didn't like the music but the content is worth staying for!
I work with three leachies and I have noticed before that they don't utilize the top half of their verticle enclosures. Now I definitely want to try to see if they'll take to horizontal enclosures instead. Loved this vid!
Glad to hear that!
Awesome video Dav! Really nice information and documentated images for leachies fans. Your whole channel and your lifestyle is amazing. I hope i can see you on Hamm show in Germany!
I just got a pure Moro leachie. This video was helpful.
WOW you have given me an entirely new appreciation for the Leachianus. I've always been more of a Leo kinda guy. Yet I might look into getting a pair or 2 of the Pine Island Leacies.
Awesome!
I would absolutely love to own a Leachiunis Giant Gecko one day 💜🦎
Thanks for the 💜
I just got my fist! About 4 month old 100% nuu Ana
Keep these type of videos coming. Would love to see leopard geckos in the wild
I will, and I'm planning that trip soon.
very interesting, so crazy that they have a uniqueness to them per locale. good food for thought that they are all different needs or enjoyments
Thanks for the comment! Feel free to share the video!
1:28 Hmm, There’s something familiar about one of those islands. (Gasp) Now I remember, it looks like one of those places filmed for Walking With Dinosaurs. The BBC series WWD actually. I think it was the 3rd episode “Cruel Seas”.
love these videos. would love to see these for lot of popular pet reptiles so we can give them the best homes we can. keep it up man!
Thanks! That's my plan
Real cool video i don't have Leachies in my collection but that was pretty cool man
Thanks! I don't either anymore but I'm thinking about changing that now.
@@davkaufmansreptileadventures hey I don't know if you see this but do leachies swim and like most geckos do the stick to stuff with there feet
@@madriots4989 they have the ability to swim but they don't go into the water on their own, and yes they do have sticky toe pads on their feet
@@davkaufmansreptileadventures oh that's cool are they good pets and that gripping soul thing freaked me out a little lol.
Not a species that I keep but a very informative video none the less, great work Dave keep them coming 👍🏻
Thanks Chris!
This was THE BEST! Wow to catch that behavior, I have never heard of the males guarding the eggs, incredible! Did you see many in the daytime? Thank you! Keep in mind, we're not sure of course that what we first saw was accurate but it was interesting enough to warrant future research on it.
better than any animal planet show iv seen
Thanks for saying that!
Thx. Great video. Love all the drone shots of the islands.
Thanks!
Wow, what an amazing trip and animals. Thank you so much for sharing this awesome experience.
Thanks for tuning in!

They are awesome!
Yes they are... might break down and buy another pair
What an awesome adventure and to see them up close like that, they are definitely a kool animal! What a shame you have to work so hard in such terrible places!! LOL Lookin forward to the next episode!
Wait until you see the vlogs from out and how beat up we got. It was pretty brutal out there, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. :)
Awesome man. Love the work your doing, and really enjoy learning more about their natural behavior. Can’t wait to see what else you find out!!
Thanks! More good stuff from out there on its way
This video made my birthday so RAD!! 💯
Awesome! Happy Birthday!
"So this guy just took a dump here..." All time segway 🤣💩4:28
So awesome that you found those eggs wow that is cool!
I LOVE ALL YOUR VIDEOS!! Since you've been to New Caledonia and the other islands can you tell me what fruit trees and other fruits grow on those islands? I've been trying to find out for quite some time now. BTW I keep and breed crested geckos
We were there at the wrong time of year to to see what fruits were there, so I'll just have to go back!
Man really learned a lot thanks for making this video I really wanna get 1 at one point
You're welcome! Glad you learned a lot :)
Loving these videos!! Amazing seeing the moro male guarding eggs. My male gets more defensive than my female when I go to retrieve eggs.
Have you seen or taken any videos of gargoyle geckos on the island? I would love to see them.
Thanks! Gargs are on the main island and we didn't get to spend that much time there unfortunately
Love your videos, visiting new caldedonia in a month or two. I hope to try and have a similarly awesome herping experience.
Thanks! Have a blast!
Another awesome video, I will share with my friends who keep those amazing animals!
Thank you!
Gargoyles next!!!! Love these vids
Unfortunately we didn't get to see those as we weren't in their range.
So they tear your soul out with their claws? It all makes sense why I have no soul anymore XD. Keep it up!
Haha!

Awesome video 👍 were you scared at all that you might get bit? I heard there bites can be bad, is that true? Thank for the GREAT video!

Thanks Dav!! From your home town MN, St. Paul
Hey James! Lake Minnetonka area over here!
Wow, did you swim too? Gorgeous!
Very cool. keep it up!
Another great video my friend!
Thanks bro!
3:24 And that, is the reason I named my Leachie, Voodoo.
Really good content i love the eyes on those guys
Me too!
That male leachie was fearless i love it bro was ready to die for those babies
"when we told the chief why we wanted to go to the islands, he allowed us to go on the condition he could supervise us."
Amazing how tame they are.
Awesome stuff Dav! Did you film this using the Panasonic Lumix FZ2500?
That was one of five cameras I had on this shoot.
wow that was an awesome video and information
buen vídeo, deberías hacer vídeos así con corallus batesii
Gracias. Tengo planes de hacerlo pronto.
I didn't know about these
SICK!
You got more islands to go bro!
Yes we do!
Dāv Kaufman's Reptile Adventures I'm foaming at the mouth in jealousy
What temperature gun do you use in your videos i always wanted to get one myself
How do those birds not eliminate the crested geckos from egg to full grown? How chill can a critter get? Sloths 👀
Such a cool vid!
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
This is awesome!
Thanks!
Awesome video! 1:40 what is the name of this music?
I put all music credits in the description.
4:31. I want a alien to come down and pick me up poke my belly and then poked my poop and decide what I ate 😝😏
Wish you did a video like this for uroplatus lineatus 😍
As soon as I get to that part of the world I will
I was wondering my mail eyelash gecko tend to stick around when my female was laying eggs before I start separating my geckos during breeding season but he never did interfere in her laying eggs so that is really cool
