Great service at Burlington Hyundai NJ and my service manager Tony for always taking care of my Veloster and Sante Fe: I decided to go ahead and trade it anyway and bought a new 2023 Hyundai Sante Fe SEL Premium and really enjoy this ride.

Just had my engine replaced by Burlington Hyundai Dealership due to excess oil consumption on certain Kia and Hyundai engines, going back to 2012. Mine was a 2018 Sante Fe Sport with 73000 miles, always dealer serviced and CarFax updated. I was burning 4 QTs every 1000 miles . And had to go through a service consumption test twice at 1000 each and another after a chamber cleaning before Hyundai would authorize the engine replacement, which by the way is a rebuild not new crate engine. As a result of the chamber cleaning that clogged my catalytic converter so both had to be replaced at no cost to me, and I did get a loaner. Just had complete engine replacement due to high oil consumption in my 2017 Tucson. Bought it with 18k miles and purchased an extended warranty program. Hyundai screwed my family over so bad. 2017 Santa Fe 70k miles, 100k warranty. We had just paid it off like 18k. Took it for an oil change every so many miles, over 14 oil changes and regular maintenance. Engine flooded. Took it to Hyundai. They had it for seven weeks with no loaner or rentals available. We are down to 2 cars in a family of 5. Hyundai corporate calls and tells us we went 100 miles over before our last 2 oil changes, but tire kingdom changed to synthetic oil and told us we could go a little longer with that oil. People complaining are probably using thin 0w-20 oils like the cap says. That’s a suggestion for winter driving or for best gas mileage. If you open your owners manual, most Hyundais can use thicker oils like 10w-30 in the warmer months. People using thin 0w-20 grade winter oil in hot summers then complaining about oil burning are just wild. Comments are so funny lol
Also make sure you check to see if all your connecting rods are inside the motor rather than laying on the ground. You should also call and see if you still have insurance. So many KIAs and Hyundai's are stolen that a lot of insurance company's refuse to insure them.
Just bought a 24 Elantra, I really hope these issues have been cleared up now with oil consumption. Hyundai pushing that oil needs to be checked so frequently is concerning.
What do you do if you accidentally add too much oil? I once did that and I spent hours inserting the dip stick and wiping off the oil and repeating that to get the level back just under the F line, is there a faster way of lowering the oil level?
Yes Hyundai's do consume a little oil, my 17 Santa Fe with a 2.4, I go through about half a quart every 3000 miles, I guess it's normal I have 95000 miles on it.
They overfilled mine this last oil change as well and I still had to add 2 quarts in between this will change. I had thought the overfilled it because I had asked for a oil consumption test as it has been using oil. I had thought that was why they over filled it.
@@keshiaguffey1225 wow! up to two qts loss is a lot. I check mine from time to time between changes and I did not see much or any loss of oil. My Hyundai is a 2013 Elantra.
My 2016 Elantra's engine malfunction pushed a hole on the side of the block. Took it to the dealer, 2 weeks later they tell me corporate Hyundai declined warranty repair because of maintenance neglect. We maintained the car and did all oil changes every 3k miles. To declined based on neglect is the most unfair excuse not to get it repaired. I will not rest until Hyundai owns the problem and gets it fixed. Engine failure is a far more common issue they've had as I do my research on the internet. It seems like my issue could warrant a recall yet Hyundai chooses to decline the repair. It has just 88k miles
Engine issues...just paid $2500 within last yr for maintenance always kept car serviced on time ONLY at dealership. I called corporate assigned a case worker that did not provide accurate info or did he??? Purchased a car 5/2020 was told by corporate in 3/2020 engine issues were reported so why sell a car that Hyundai KNEW of issues. I reported ENGINE light 2xs before last light came on 4/11/2023. Come to find out oil burned out even though I was not due for oil change. Dealership did not want me to get it serviced until May. But I dropped it right off to them 4/12. Car sat until today but while on the lot another person pulled up with same issue so Hyundai knows of the issue wanting us to drive 1000 miles come back 2xs thereafter. As if after purchasing this car because I thought it would be reliable! I am disabled and now I have to become a mechanic. My case worker did NOTHING to help me but to tell me that this is NOT a lemon car! I work too hard for people to play with my money. But this is the kicker not even an hour after dropping car off 4/12 I get a call from the sales department asking me do I want to purchase another car while there is still value in my car?!? HMMM like I said to them what's wrong with the car that sitting there on the lot how awkward was that. Next year I was really considering trading in this car and getting another one but there's no way in the world that I want to do any type of business anymore with the company that does not care about their customers. And the saddest thing is the employee over the phone told me, " I wouldn't get a car from them if they gave it to me". I wish I would have known that before I bought the car! So my thing is Hyundai is well aware of the issues that is going on Within These engines and instead of fixing them they want to play games and have the customer pay for oil and filter deductibles and then become the mechanic. Yes I did go get my car off the lot why should I sit up here and pay a monthly payment and have a car sitting somewhere for no reason. I really hope that engine testing combustion engine testing shows something so it will be fixed permanently! I am so disappointed in @Hyundai
I just bought a Hyundai 2023 Kona. I just love it. I bought it because my son has a 2008 Elantra. He has done the bare minimum maintenance on it, and drives the hell out of it. That little car has over 200k miles and it’s still going. My son calls it his gma car, it’s been very reliable for him considering how he treats it. I was so impressed I bought one. Maybe the guy who had a bad experience just didn’t get a car that lasted that long. Considering he’s been a Hyundai customer for over 20 yrs. And one bad experience . I would say that’s a good thing. I’m sure getting the run around sucks, but maybe try a different Hyundai store. You have an extended warranty which sometimes is an outside company that has nothing to do with Hyundai. Anyways I’m in love with my cute little car and the gas I’m saving. She’s just got zip to her. I just added a tow hitch to her so I can take my bikes out for rides. I’m a happy customer
Well...my nx4 hybrid seems to be producing oil, maybe I can sell the surplus to Hyundai. Brand new car, 10 000 km, changed the oil at 5k and now it's again way above the maximum level, it's liquid and it forms bubbles. The dealer acknowledged the oil dilution and presence of gasoline in the oil and they recommended to contact directly Hyundai as they can't do much about this problem. If the engine dies because of oil dilution issues I hope it does while in warranty.
When it's new, you should change your oil around 3000 - 3500 miles to get shavings and water else may have gotten in oil during break in period. Then Hyundai will do a free oil change at 7000 miles and every 7000 going forward. You still need to check your oil and fill it in between changes. This part if true on any vehicle that uses oil. It's the life line of the car. Same with your transmission fluid and cooling system.
I have a 2016 Hyundai Tuscan. It burns oil like crazy. I have never had a vehicle go through oil like this vehicle. It is crazy!!!! If there is a pending lawsuit like said below, we need results to happen!!
I dont understand this - don't we need to drain the old dirty oil first before adding new oil?? and secondly, do we need to replace the oil filter on these models?
2011 Hyundai Sonata. Bought new. We’re adding 2 quarts of oil (roughly every 1000 miles) to our car because of excessive oil consumption. Unfortunately our car isn’t included in the class action lawsuit. Not sure I would ever buy a Hyundai again. If we could afford to get rid of it we would. Outside of that, we’ve loved our car.
@@hyundai yes we have. We’ve only had Hyundai service our car since purchased. We were told it was due to the pcv valve not working. They changed pcv valve and it did not fix the problem. Then they recommended an underside combustion cleaning to combat carbon on piston oil rings causing oil consumption. We had that done too. We are putting 2quarts of oil in the car on the 1st of each month due to the oil being low. The dipstick shows oil at the bottom of the dipstick well below the Low oil level. We drive our Hyundai approximately 1000 miles/month.
I have a serious question about this if there's five quarts in the tank but your dipstick only shows you 1-2 quarts how do you know what's left in the tank?
Any dipstick shows the last quart of engine oil unless specified. The F indicates the full amount (5QT or look at your manual). L indicates the minimum amount (4QT or look at your manual). If it's bone dry, you got other problems like a leak or an oil burning engine and should probably tow it to a shop.
@@gaijinblow thanks but I did find out though the dipstick doesn't show the final quart what happens is 5 sit in the tank and the oil Rises which is very important to know because somebody can have five quarts in their tank just from putting oil in themselves manually but the oil doesn't rise because they're in need of an oil change even though they have oil in their tank it can destroy the engine the rising is based off of how much dirt and other stuff gets in the filter not specifically how much is left in the tank
This is stupid because what if you overfill. Now you have tow the vehicle to hyundai so hyundai can suck out the overfilled oil. Hyundai needs to make a oil sensor level or a better oil sensor level that will tell you how much oil to add.
I feel I have been ripped off by Cochran Hyundai. My Tucson is only 1 year old and I took it in for the inspection that I was told it was to be free. But needless to say when they did my emission inspection they charged me an outrageous price of $75.00. So according to other inspection stations the charge for emission inspection should not have been more than $40.00!!! So I guess they tricked me about saying my car was to be free inspection they just over charged for my emission inspection. I also checked with Penn Dot and they also agreed that $75.00 for emission inspection was way too much. I talked with the service manager and he just said he doesn’t set the prices! So Cochran are you gouging me???
We just got a 2023 palisade It's always a quart low at the 3k mile mark..and it's seemingly dark.. I'm running mobile 1 full synthetic..11k miles..I changed my oil 3 times. Dealer told me hyundai says 1 quart consumption every 1000 miles is acceptable. I call bullshit...

You're just throwing away money now.
I will NOT buy these cars, they have too many problems and service dealer are deceive and corrupt by adding additional services and charges for services they did not perform
NEVER buy hyundai. I have 2014 Santa fe Sport and it consumes 1 litre of oil every 1000 kms. The dealership approved to replace the short block engine. The dealer (Kingscross Hyundai, Ontario) quoted the amount of $8k out which 2k was supposed to be paid by me that too without any warranty. This is pathetic. @pstang4545 dang 401k miles! That's crazy, I just got a new engine under warranty at 85k on 2016 sonata, rod bearing failure.
Yes, Hyundai replaced my short engine block at 182K so I have gotten nearly 220K since! Praying I can get another 100K - we'll see!@@dylanarnsdorff5947
How are you liking it so far ?
When are you planning to do the first oil change ?
What do you do if you accidentally add too much oil? I once did that and I spent hours inserting the dip stick and wiping off the oil and repeating that to get the level back just under the F line, is there a faster way of lowering the oil level?
This comment section doesn't have very many happy customers.
Yes Hyundai's do consume a little oil, my 17 Santa Fe with a 2.4, I go through about half a quart every 3000 miles, I guess it's normal I have 95000 miles on it.
That is about how much my 2017 Hyundai tuscon consumes but then again i have 203,000 miles on mine.
My 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe consumes 2 quarts between 3k and 4k miles.
every time I got an oil change at my local Hyundai dealer that overfilled the oil. how come?
Thank you very much
What should you do when your oil smells like gasoline because of the GDI engine’s oil dilution problem?
Nice Video Explain Everything Very Well 👍
I love my 2018 Santa Fe Sport . Great SUV . 🇺🇸🇨🇦
Does a 2017 have a low oil light?
So if oil is less that means engine burns oil or that's just normal ?
As a car ages it burns more oil typically
Well...my nx4 hybrid seems to be producing oil, maybe I can sell the surplus to Hyundai. Brand new car, 10 000 km, changed the oil at 5k and now it's again way above the maximum level, it's liquid and it forms bubbles. The dealer acknowledged the oil dilution and presence of gasoline in the oil and they recommended to contact directly Hyundai as they can't do much about this problem. If the engine dies because of oil dilution issues I hope it does while in warranty.
This is not what the dealership told me. I was told 7,000 miles or 1 year
When it's new, you should change your oil around 3000 - 3500 miles to get shavings and water else may have gotten in oil during break in period.
Hello Tracey, and thank you for reaching out. Do you currently have a case manager assisting you with this matter? ^cc
When I change de oil in my Hyundai Dealer I should have to check!
Hello Sherry. We are sorry to hear about your experience with your Sonata. Has your vehicle been diagnosed at a local Hyundai dealership? ^cc

🚗Oli and a very well presented one with a good one one of of what we have
I change the oil every time at an authorized Hyundai service. but each time they pour more than the norm.
The owners manual says the oil level should be BETWEEN the L and F. NOT AT THE FULL LINE! WTF!?
This is stupid because what if you overfill. Now you have tow the vehicle to hyundai so hyundai can suck out the overfilled oil. Hyundai needs to make a oil sensor level or a better oil sensor level that will tell you how much oil to add.
So it is 3000 I thought it was 7000 miles in the hybrid
Good morning, and thank you for reaching out. Please contact our Customer Care team at (800) 633-5151 to file a formal complaint. ^cc
We just got a 2023 palisade
It's always a quart low at the 3k mile mark..and it's seemingly dark..
I'm running mobile 1 full synthetic..11k miles..I changed my oil 3 times. Dealer told me hyundai says 1 quart consumption every 1000 miles is acceptable.
I call bullshit...
We recommend you contact us directly at 844-462-5557 for further assistance with your vehicle. Thank you. ^cc
You check it like any other car.
Simple.
Hundai (pronounced here in this 'official Hyundai USA clip'), while here in the UK they're trying to make us pronounce Hyundai the proper way, ehm, HQ marketing department, if pronunciation is so important to you align your actions worldwide on this one. You're just throwing away money now.
Which is it Hyundai I get Told 8 thousand miles now this video saying 3000
I was told 7000 😬
It said check. Not change
I will NOT buy these cars, they have too many problems and service dealer are deceive and corrupt by adding additional services and charges for services they did not perform
Unless you have an electric Hyundai! :-) No Fuel No Oil! Yes!!
Hyundai engines loves burning oil and grenading
You guys have a horrible dipstick system. It's impossible to tell
محرك دائما ينقص الزيت سوناتا
NEVER buy hyundai. I have 2014 Santa fe Sport and it consumes 1 litre of oil every 1000 kms. The dealership approved to replace the short block engine. The dealer (Kingscross Hyundai, Ontario) quoted the amount of $8k out which 2k was supposed to be paid by me that too without any warranty. This is pathetic. I shouldn’t be paying a single penny if it’s a manufacturing issue. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY IN HYUNDAI GO FOR TOYOTA INSTEAD.
Thank you for reaching out to Hyundai Motor America. Unfortunately, we only handle cases within the United States. Please feel free to visit the following webpage: www.hyundai.com/worldwide to find the best contact information for your region. ^cc
Are you using 0w-20 oil or 10w-30?
I have a 2019 kona, and a 2022 kona, they overfill oil on each oil change, poor service, will seek service from another source.
Hello Paul. We’re disappointed to learn about your experience. Please reach out to our Customer Care department at 1-(800) 633-5151 so that we can further assist. ^cc
Well my Elantra is using oil like it’s a joke. This is a bad side of Hyundai engine, excessive oil consumption.
❤️❤️❤️❤️💯👍
Everyone needs to move away from this scam company. No one else has this video. Hyundai Kia trying to save their asses bc they make cheap engines
please try something new. this has been repeated numerous times
This video seems extremely over complicated. I check my oil first thing in the morning when the car is cold never had a problem. I keep it in the garage. I don't understand this video start the vehicle let it idle spewing toxic chemicals into the atmosphere contributing to global warming just to check your oil. Just imagine all the pollution that is created just from all these customers checking there oil, amazing. Hyundai if you are reading this do you see any problem with checking oil first thing in the morning when the car is cold? I would love to hear your reply thank you.
You must be joking? People drive the car and stop at a service station to get gasoline. This is where most would be checking the oil. Ha
Bla bla bla P O S HYUNDAI
I have a 2019 Kona, motor needed replacement at 5000 miles, poor service
Looks like Hyundai is working over time to avoid replacing so many motor. My Hyundai was 3 quarts low. 😮😮😮
