- How To Play Call Me The Breeze by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Great guitar parts by Gary Rossington on this killer song written by JJ Cale. There are some cool fills played by Ed King that maybe I'll get to on another video.
To think this guitar work is still being dissected 50 years later shows you how straight up frickin awesome it was.
I've been a Skynyrd fan since I was a kid, but this song has moved up in my favorites. I still get chills listening to it- Billy's piano solo may be one of the best honky tonk rock piano solos I've ever heard
Should pay homage to JJ Cale as there would be no LS version without JJ witting this song!
I agree. Billy Powell is the best on piano I believe I’ve ever heard. And yes I get chills to everytime I hear it. I love the show wild hogs where this song kicks in and there taking off across country. Man just an awesome song.

Great work. There are a lot of teachers demonstrating this, but your alternating of the pull-off C to G, then the little walk on C, C#, F, F#....or may F#,G....sounds the most correct on the intro. Thank you!

Man, I am from Brazil and a Skynyrd fan since early 90's as I remember. You are the best in digin' and teaching this songs. If it's possible, put That Smell, in your list, to do a lesson. That song gives me the chills everytime I heard. Thanks for sharing and keep the good work!

Very nicely done. You make it look easier when you do it fast up to speed. You’re a natural at this. I like the way you play it and then slow it down then play it again. A lot of teachers that are trying to teach a solo that’s pretty advanced really, the teacher starts talking about put your right finger on the fourth third of the third string blah blah blah and you know if you have to go into it in that much detail you probably shouldn’t be Doing a solo like this. So I like your style and your approach. I’ll be watching it all week this week and see how I do with it. Thanks a lot for posting this. I love the solo sound it is pure rock ‘n’ roll.

Gary’s solo looks like the same start of Hendrix Red House. I laugh at this song. It has every freaking blues chord you would ever need to learn. That’s what. OMG. YOU JUST SAID. RED HOUSE. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

1974 Marshall JMP 50 watt. No master volume. Cranked up loud into a Fryette Power Station attenuator.

J.J Cale sold this to the right band......50 years ago. Even Clapton can't do it like LS did. Learn any one of these tunes and you got the essence of Southern Rock that actually is cheerful.

What a tone. I would like to know more about that rig, (pichups, speakers, tubes etc...).
Late 90's LP Classic (1960 Reissue). WCR Fillmore Pickups from Jim Wagner. Amp is a stock 1974 Marshall JMP non master volume turned up around 7. All the tone is coming from the amp and guitar. No pedals. It's been a while since I re-tubed but I believe they are JJ's but it's possible they're Winged C's. If I get the chance, I'll pull off the back panel. Speakers are Celestion Greenback 25W and the cabinet is from 1973. Mic is Sennheiser 906 and the preamp is API 512c. All flat. I'm using a Fryette Power Station on the amp to control the volume. D'Addario 10-46. Budweiser beer and Crown Royal. Deja Vibe for the phaser type sound.

I use the winged ="C"=, and that would be my guess. I Like the chewy top end they provide. I could be wrong. No need to pull the back. Your Greenbacks must be well broken in, because they sound smooth. I though you were going to tell me that they were something more vintage. Very nice. I'm digging the way that amp brakes up. It sounds like early Skynyrd. A bit nasal like a horn, but with grind.

Did Gary and Allen figure this stuff out on their own or did they have a teacher that taught them all this fancy finger work? I've never heard them say anything about who taught them how to play guitar. it's some seriously Advanced guitar work these guys are guitar gods. and you ain't too bad yourself.😎 I've been teaching myself to play for a while now and I've learned a little bit of the Technic's these guys play like I'm learning some stuff from you right now. but it ain't easy like Allen's intro I learned that a while back but I still can't play it at the right speed but I'm getting to where I can learn this stuff and I'm making progress so it's cool but it certainly is Advanced guitar Learning Without A Doubt. I think mostly I need to use a metronome more and probably get a face-to-face teacher then I would probably advance a lot quicker. but I'm having fun and I am making progress so that's all I really care about right now. thank you for these lessons because they're awesome. you've not been around here for awhile I hope you're okay and I hope you come on back and do some more of this stuff.

One of their biggest inspirations was the band Free and particulary paul kossoff and you can definetly here it in their playing!
That sounds pretty good, bro. But to really do it justice you need a full Marshall stack. In fact, two stacks would be ideal.

What did you do for that tone
That is my Les Paul through the Deja Vibe right into the amp. Early 70's Marshall on around 7 and the power tubes are getting the sound. I have a Fryette Power Station to bring the volume down and that thing does a good job of maintaining the tone. I think I added a touch of plate reverb when mixing the audio down. But really, the tone is Les Paul (WCR Pickups) into an early 70's Marshall. That's what those amps sound like.

Not sure what your comment means. My videos are aimed at intermediate guitar players trying to learn the parts. I'm doing this for free and it takes a long time to make each of these videos. Not sure why anyone would take the time complain about this.
If you need an in depth explanation then you probably aren’t ready to play it
Put the playback on 50% and watch closely...then up to 75%...then 100%....go see Marty if you need an A Chord explained to you....
