thanks for watching & the kindred sprint! The new engine direct from Lycoming was $98k minus the core refund of ~$25k if you ship them back a complete & working engine which we did. Install costs were ~$15k to deliver a complete & airworthy airplane ready for test flight.
G,day from Sydney Australia. Why only cracks in one wing? What was the contributing factor? 2. That crack from the engine bolt, was that there last annual inspection. Did they use dye penitrent? 🌏🇦🇺
The only thing that is different between the 2 wings is 1 is used to get in an out of the plane. My guess is after hundreds of hours, and possibly thousands of in and outs of the plane it was enough to begin extremely slowly damaging it. That is only my best guess though.
it's the wing that you walk on to get in/out of the plane in the front. It's been walked on 1000's of times over 45 years. unfortunately, this is not an uncommon problem with PA-32's which is why we inspect this area ever year at annual per Piper service bulletin, and why the fix is so common and quick to do.
Hey Brian great seeing you again in Oshkosh, love the JPI!
thanks Herb! always great catching up with you and hearing some great flying stories!
Congrats on getting the Six back in the air!
thank you, feels great!!
Congrats on getting the plane back to flying!
thank you sir!
Nice video and references to the same Americana I grew up on! Will you comment on total cost to replace and install engine?

Where is your first trip??
don't know, haven't thought that far ahead until now! I think an east coast swing to see friends and fall colors is in order.
So happy for you!
Also, looks like smoother engine leads to smoother landings…very nice
