As simple Install video there is. Thank you for posting. 1. Mark Rotor position, 2 . Line up oil pump spline ,3 Drop in and hook up positive lead.........nice. Best video on this install. Thank you from Texas.
I did this to mine. The only thing better would be a smaller bodied distributor, which I think can be found in the after market. The remote coil electronic uses a separate coil, but may be smaller. Number one can be anywhere on the cap as long as you index the distributor accordingly & follow the firing order.
Wouldnt it be easier to swap in lets say a distributor off a 88 and up f body v8 with the remote coil so u can turn the cap when timing the engine and to prevent that spark plug wire from touching valve cover? the coil can be mounted anywhere with a bracket.
Thats what I need to do on my 74 Nova 250. On the stock coil theres a positive and negative. Which do you hook up to the HEI and does go to the Batt connection on the dizzy cap? And the other, does it go somewhere else? Very Nice Truck!
Do you have any advice or know of any resources where I can locate the vacuum diagram for my 250ci I6? It came completely disassembled in my 82 GMC High Sierra and I'm having a hell of a time with it. I want to remove the emission control system but don't have a good starting point other than trial and error.
What car is the hei distributor from? I've come across two different part numbers here at my job, let me know where you sourced out the distributor please. Thanks!
Does anyone knows how the calefaction of this engine works? I've got the same one, but it's broken. Or if anyone saw a video or a web page where I can find how to fix it, i would appreciate it so much.
YOU CLIMB IN ON TOP OF IT AND SIT ON IT LIKE YER HATCHING AN EGG, IT'LL GET WARMER.....JUST MAKE SURE YER TESTICLES ARE HANGING IN THE COOLING FAN SO IT DOESN'T GET TOO WARM ,TOO FAST........................................"cheers!"
Hi Robert, what kind of transmission do you have? I have done almost all the updates you did but I still have a hard time with the acceleration vs power
SO YOU ONLY USED 1 WIRE OFF THE OLD COIL WIRES,, TO THE NEW DISTRIBUTOR,, MINE HAS 2 LEEDS UNDER THE NEW DISTRIBUTOR , DOSE YOURS & DID YOU ONLY USED 1 SIDE FOR { THE YELLOW WIRE,, } & THE OTHER 1,, ? WENT WHERE,,
Actually I did the video but it got corrupted and I couldn’t load it however I did remove the electronic fan, it was pulling to much voltage from the battery. I put in a new fan clutch and fan instead and no longer have heating issues.
I once heard the 250ci engine will automatically time itself if you loosen the distributor bolt, and run it that way. It is said that the distributor will twist back, and forth until it comes to a dead stop where it sets itself up in a perfect timing setting. Is that story true?
I’ve tried it, it worked kind of on my ‘70 but I couldn’t get that cheat to work on this one. Good call, I didn’t mention that but yes that can be true
Thanks Robert. I've got an HEI and some other bolt - ons, and my head is in the shop getting a serious makeover. Thanks for making the videos. They're very helpful.

Glad to help! I had a ‘65 I still regret letting go of. I would love to see a pic of you have one!

Thanks for the tip!
The wire you used from the coil is not a full 12 V to that HEI you need a 12v from the Fuse block.
Super clean
super clean truck bud

15 is too young 36 is too old 24 is just right.

Can you further explain what you spliced the coil wire into?
I see green and black wires connected into the yellow coil wire.
Thanks in advanced

Did you notice a performance improvement of any kind?
Yes, I have. Quicker response on acceleration and a smoother idle. I'm very happy with the upgrade
