Only thing I would change is the throttle return spring. I prefer to have it attached to the same arm the accelerator cable is attached to. Great tutorial :)
I think you have a safety issue in your install. The National Street Rod Assn. has documented an issue with the cable cutting into the housing if the cable and housing are not installed correctly. The cable/housing must be lined up with the attachment point on the carburetor (not off to one side). The constant off center pull across the end of the housing wears a slot that will eventually trap the cable in the damaged housing end not allowing the cable to move. (Not good at full throttle). Just a heads up.
I did have a little bit of an issue at full throttle from time to time however I don’t generally hammer down. But as for cruising, I have no issues. I also don’t take it on freeways or highways at high speed. But valid point, thank you!
350cfm carb but how many cfm through that 1 barrel hole into the intake manifold? Nevertheless, nice upgrade, Holleys are the only carbs anymore for which service parts are plentiful, and knowledge is pretty widely out there in the public realm.
I thought you were going to post the hei upgrade video? I'm going to do it on Thursday and wanted to see how you did it. no Videos on these 250s! thank you
I posted a quick how to walk thru, but the vid is limited due to the situation in which I had to replace it. All in all you should be able to get the jest of installation. Let me know if you have any problems and I will try to answer them for you as quick as I can
I put the same carburetor on a 225 slant six and matched the holes in the manifold to the carburetor base plate (lots of drilling and Dremel work). But it had a horrible stumble on take off; after the first couple of feet it bogs down but then picks up with more throttle. Did you have anything like that happen?
Sounds like it's being slightly flooded, I had a similar problem but just needed to adjust the fuel air mixture on the carb. The inline and slant six don't require the extensive amount of fuel that the Holley delivers. Also adding an online fuel filter just before the carb slightly restricts the fuel amount as well. Let me know how it comes out
i have a 1971 c10 with the exact same set up but for some reason my first two cylinders flood after thirty minutes of running and miss fire, the shop told me the carb was two big ( it is a 350 holley two barrel) do you have the stock distributer and ignition set up?
Hi, I need to do this same job. Where did you order the linkage parts from, like the cable and brackets. Could you give me some part numbers? Please let me know. it would help me a great deal. Thanks for the video.
I bought a single-to-double barrel conversion mounting plate, depending on where you look though it may be called several different things. As long as it is compatible with your carb, you'll be ok.
Help please I have 71 chevy c10 with 250 eng and 350 3 speeds automatic trans I whould like to know less rpm on highway ,at 65mph my engine sounds high rpm, what i do need ..short gear axle?big carb?my rear tires are 295/60/15..thanks ..
Alright Manny, this is what I learned. My truck, at 60 mph sounded wound out.. Like it was gonna blow up from too high rpm. Due to age, the exhaust manifold got a crack. I finally found online, a brand new reproduction manifold. Awesome deal fit perfect $150. 00 brand new. Came out of the box everything machined exact. Still had the casting sand around it. But one thing... The ports were not ground out. So I ported the exhaust to match the head, cleaned up the head a little. And figuring that while the intake is off, port it too. Not polished, just opened up, and all ports matching each other for size. Put it together, ran beautifull. Amazingly smooth! Best part of all? 80 mph down the freeway, quiet and smooth. With more pep to poop if needed. No joke.. And the midway flat spot during acceleration? Gone! Can't say I get good milage, wasn't good then, might be better now. Can't tell, I'm doing 80 on the freeway! So take that intake and exhaust off. Open em up cleanly, and I'm willing to bet... Now my question to these guys is, what did you get out of this upgrade to the 2brl? More power, more pep,? Better milage? I figure if I'm gonna have this bad of gas mileage, I might as well just go small block hp. Might even get better milage. IDK?
These carbs are an awesome swap I did this to a 351 Cleveland Ford ND difference was outstanding feel the power ND whatch the fuel guage fall
I have a 1968 Inline 6, 3 on the tree that I would love to do this to my Scooby Do van...great job...✌

🤔nice carburetor finally something better for 2barrel
NICE!
Great video thank you.
Fix the filter please
Not having a velocity valve, a bigger carb might bog down with full throttle.

i have a question. how did the truck run before and afyer swap? im looking to do the same thing
just thought but u should run metal pipe past the header and then connect to rubber hose so it does not leak strait on header if it does leak.

also did you encounter any failures in this set up in the long run? please tell me all there is id greatly appreciatr it

I changed the accelerator pump squirter 2 sizes smaller and used the black cam on hole #2, and that did the trick.
Did adding a 4 barrel and intake make much of a difference.
Very much. Smoother and a much more rapid response in acceleration
Hi what size fuel inlet does this carb use? I just ordered this carb and found out it doesn’t come with one. I can’t find info online

I have installed an HEI since however I was running the stock for this vid

just hold the pedal down 😂 u don't have to pump it 😂 all those times 😂
What do you call the kit to transition from single barrel to barrel? And where did you pick it up and how much did it cost?
I bought a single-to-double barrel conversion mounting plate, depending on where you look though it may be called several different things. As long as it is compatible with your carb, you'll be ok.
because not a 4 barrel intake?
Where did you connect the distributor advance vacuum line on the carburetor?
It connects to the carb right side next to the valve cover. There is a fuel line connection and a vacuum connection on that side.
Did the gas mileage improve?
