I think black coffee is something you can do at home and the only reason to drink black coffee at a coffee shop is if they have some amazing brew you can't afford to buy or can't access to buy for home use. A coffee shop is where they have all of the equipment and expertise you don't have at home for incredible coffee creations! That's my take anyway.

@@slipshodaverage844 Not that weird. Although you might not be doing it for this reason, hot drinks can cool you down. In dry places, drinking the hot drink causes you to sweat and in turn cool off. This is why people often drink hot drinks in middle eastern countries during the hot days.
4:49 ''I think it's really hopeful...'' YES! Except you don't think but you know it will be helpful. Love your energy and videos! One thing, just as someone who has worked as a barista for a while... you don't need to leave your wands in a cleaning solution overnight! Its actually bad for your gaskets. Clean them at night, dump your solution down the drain (like you did), and leave your wands either "dry" or in plain water :)
When I moved to Washington being able to drink black coffee was like a right of passage (with my coworker)😅 I too feel like I've done my time and have given myself permission to drink yummy creamy drinks again. I think black coffee is perfect when you're backpacking ☺️
try playing with single origin coffee's and spices from the same region -- ground in with the coffee grinds add a small dash of sugar if you like. Works best with pours-overs, but you could try steaming the spices in a tea bag with the milk (lower fat milks work better) if you're an espresso die-hard :P You will thank me if you try something from vietnam or south america. ;P
@@tylerwright6006 I make all my coffee via pour over! I'll definitely give this a try! My set up isn't anything fancy, but this seems very doable with a budget☺️☺️
i grew up in washington, and live there again, actually pretty close portland, and i still cann't drink black coffee. it is just too bitter. i ***want*** to like black coffee, as it is the cheapest form of caffeine intake, both in dollars and calories. but i just can't do it. maybe i'm a bitter super taster... but everything i do to reduce the bitter isn't enough.
Ugh I miss being able to go to my local café and knit! I remember being able to sit there, have a coffee latte or chai latte. My local cafe started knowing my order at one point lol
i am not particularly interested in coffee (though love the new knowledge I get), but the vibe of your videos is so chill and relaxing and soothing, I find myself listening to you talk about coffee in the background while I work! Thank you, Morgan! Great content!
You are such a kind and caring person who obviously cares about coffee and people in general. The rhythm and cadence of your voice is relaxing and real. I've been a coffee lover for years but only just recently got into the "what" and "how" to make a good cup of coffee. Thank you for all of your videos. And gimme one of those Nutella pies. :-9
And this is why we HATE when people.come early to a coffee shop...like we are working when the doors are closed please be kind and don't knock or be rude
I relate to you on the bags. I use to work at a coffee shop before covid started (had to leave due to pay cuts and college loans) The way we got around it was tape and covering the bag with the date on at least 2 sides if not 4.
Hey, Morgan. One station I loved to play whenever I was alone at the shop in the morning, was Late Night Alumni on Pandora and Spotify. Helped me stay chill while I wake up.
If you need a video idea, could you go through the process of staying organized while busy/time saving tricks that you've picked up? I recently started at a high volume cafe and I feel so slow
When pulling shots first thing in the morning I would drink every little bit of it, and then a little extra because I always made myself a drink as well. You can never be too caffeinated!
when I work at the coffee shop, I go for Guster- "Satellite" radio for some easy listening, upbeat music to open with. That and an Abuelita iced mocha got me through so many challenging days!
I’ve wanted to work at a coffee shop since I was a kid, and finally this year, I was old enough to apply.... then COVID hit and that didn’t happen... so I’m totally living vicariously though you!
Starbucks barista here. Seeing these videos makes me go 😮 because our espresso machines already do all this stuff for us. We just put the beans in there and the grind right when we hit the correct button for the amount of espresso they want in their drinks. Also we have a coffee brew cycle for regular hot coffee. We have to brew coffee each type of coffee for 30 minutes. If we are brewing 3 coffees we switch every 10 minutes, 2 coffees 15 minutes and ofc 1 coffee 30 minutes. Its rough lol
for my opening shifts i like to listen to something smooth and easy for the morning. typically the kali uchis station, sometimes whitney houston or mariah carey radio, more recently i've been listening to joyce wrice, and if no one is paying attention, i'll slip in some southeast asian pop/rnb/alt rock/oldies just for me :)
Morning music....uh....I listen to one of three things. The Powerwolf station, which might be a little hard for some people waking up, but it gets my blood pumping. Outlaw country, but that might be too twangy. So Id say....Celtic Woman station. Good mix of gentle tones, peppy melodies and hey, who doesn't appreciate Irish Music?
As a barista myself, I totally understand and agree to your point that you are free to drink whatever you want. Add milk, sugar, syrup or whatever you like, because ... it's what you like. As long as the customers or the others love your drink, there should not be any issue. This is a free world. At the part where you threw away the first couple shots from the grinder, I assume you do not use the chemical to clean the coffee machine right? Cuz normally, I would use those waste shots to wash out the left over chemicals in the machine.
Enjoyed. Thanks for filming this example. Everything you spoke and showed was a curiosity about Cafes. I honestly think this is borderline an enjoyable training video.
Totally different music recommendation for you: Try setting it on KQAC--NPR, but all music. All classical. For me, that's meditative music. But I'm weird (and damn proud of it!). I realize it's not the kind of music that stimulates customer turnover, but it sets a tone for the place.
So refreshing to see someone who loves and has such a passion for what they do! Only wish we had someone like that at our local coffee shop. The sneaks are awesome, my wife loves the look of them so we'll be checking them out. My I recommend Velvet Moon for you listening enjoyment. A fav is Wicked One. Keep these videos coming we enjoy watching them. Cheers!!
I'm late but in the morning I like to listen to stuff that's more upbeat than most Winehouse. Not EDM kinda tempo or energy but just things that make you wanna bop. Most 80s music is like this, or recently I've been listening to a band called The Regrettes which are delicious
Seeing this video makes me inspired to be a barista. I actually jsut came acroos on your video "How to use a french press at home" since I jsut got a new one and is new to making coffee this way, but I dk drink coffee on a daily basis and it got me wondering what other ways I can enjoy coffee. I get coffee to go at work every day, and the coffee shop does latte art under the lid. I take the lid off sometimes to drink my coffee and its a nice bonus
Glass Animals radio is my shiiiii 🙌🏻 I loved this video, such a mood! Can you do like an espresso 101 video? Maybe talking about brew times and brew methods, tamping, flavoring, etc? And maybe a coffee tasting kinda video where you talk about origins and roasts and flavor profiles? I wanna know it alllll! ☕️
I used to work as barista when I was 15... in a café in a village. It was a miracle when 5 people came during the full day... i kinda miss it. Sadly the café had to be closed due to almost no cutomers, lol. I’d like to work as a barista again when covid ends.
Just subscribed to your channel. I love your vids, and your vibe Morgan. I am on the East Coast in the South, we too have Coffee shops other than Starbucks( believe it or not). You make art in a cup, and your narration of your day, and your passion for what you do is fascinating. As romantic as you make it look, it has to be stressful when it gets busy. Thank you for sharing.
Wish I had a barista in my area like you. You are fantastic, and just had to say, love the way you make your "4", never seen it that way. Keep the video coming. Thx
I've seen this Tiktok that shows you can actually flip the remaining fabric of the turtleneck on the inside instead of flip it on the outside. The fabric around the neck I mean. It look more stylish in my opinion. Maybe you should try it since you love to wear them and could look good on you. I wish to wear them but in my constantly hot climate country, it's just not functional.
This is very interesting for me. I work at a place called 7Brew, in Arkansas, and our entire game is efficiency and customer service, followed by good coffee. It is interesting because we have 2 esspresso machines, one with 4 heads and one with 3 heads, that automatically pull 2 ounces at ~200* F (we only serve espresso shots that pull in a 17-27 second window, ideally 22,) and we go as fast as possible. In fact, with clean shot tins, I can pull a full row of 4 heads in ~16 seconds, not counting the time for the espresso to actually fall from the machine. Seeing you do it makes me feel some shame, what you do is art, and what it feels like we do is sub-par in comparison.
I love hearing someone say you don't have to drink coffee black to enjoy it! I've actually gotten to a point of enjoying black coffee with my poor over, but for me espresso I'm still at the sugar and milk stage
I recently applied to a few local coffee shops so hopefully I get a job at one of them 🤞🏻. If I do I'll have to rewatch all of your videos haha. 7:10 Preach it sister. People who talk like that need to make a cup of earl gray then walk off a pier drinking it. I love America but we are the last developed nation were fully grown adults tell each other what to do, about coffee no less. SUBSCRIBED, this was my first video.
I love the mention you made, of people saying if you drink coffee with cream and sugar you’re not a “true coffee drinker.” I can drink coffee and espresso black, but also with cream, and sugar. I drink whatever I’m in the mood for. Sometimes I don’t want sweet and creamy, sometimes I do. To say I’m not a real coffee drinker because of that- is absurd.
Love it, the aesthetic and atmosphere is just so calm and wholesome 🥰 I work in a tea store/café in Germany and me and some coleagues made custom playlists - mine is lots of folk, jazz, Beatles and a dash of indie (also some Amy Winehouse) :3

Its actually bad for your gaskets. Clean them at night, dump your solution down the drain (like you did), and leave your wands either "dry" or in plain water :)
When I moved to Washington being able to drink black coffee was like a right of passage (with my coworker)😅
I too feel like I've done my time and have given myself permission to drink yummy creamy drinks again.
I think black coffee is perfect when you're backpacking ☺️
try playing with single origin coffee's and spices from the same region -- ground in with the coffee grinds add a small dash of sugar if you like. Works best with pours-overs, but you could try steaming the spices in a tea bag with the milk (lower fat milks work better) if you're an espresso die-hard :P
You will thank me if you try something from vietnam or south america.
I use to work at a coffee shop before covid started (had to leave due to pay cuts and college loans) The way we got around it was tape and covering the bag with the date on at least 2 sides if not 4.
the Linea Classic, first espresso machine i've ever used.. felt in love with it's simplicity and design
I've been loving this playlist on spotify called Crooners and Cocktails - a nice vibe
When pulling shots first thing in the morning I would drink every little bit of it, and then a little extra because I always made myself a drink as well. You can never be too caffeinated!
Oh man I’m also in that’s stage of “I’ve done my time” with the black coffee thing😩✊🏻 hit me with that nice oat milk cap😂
when I work at the coffee shop, I go for Guster- "Satellite" radio for some easy listening, upbeat music to open with. That and an Abuelita iced mocha got me through so many challenging days!
Just loved this one! So enjoyed seeing all about "how it's done" and your wonderful loveliness :) We all need this bit of easy-going cheerfulness
The music I LOVE to play when I get a turn on shift is Boyce Avenue. They do some awesome covers!
Its rough lol
you do not know how long I've been secretly wanting one of these. Thank you! your a true barista icon :)
I just woke up so I feel like I’m getting ready for the day w/ you :) this was a really nice video, ty!!
Absolutely love the progress you've made Morgan 😁
for my opening shifts i like to listen to something smooth and easy for the morning. typically the kali uchis station, sometimes whitney houston or mariah carey radio, more recently i've been listening to joyce wrice, and if no one is paying attention, i'll slip in some southeast asian pop/rnb/alt rock/oldies just for me :)
Lo-fi & jazz hop are my go-to genres for work!
These are my favourites, thank you for a little joy today :)
Please take this as a compliment. I have no interest in the topic but the way you interact with the camera then narrate it later fascinated me.
Wow! It's so amazing to see the amount of detail and care that goes into each drink ☕
I don't know why, but I love hearing your voice...its lovely. thanks for showing up your Opening shift!
I listen to Cosmo Sheldrake and half alive at work. I also think I'd love to hear Monsieur Periné at a coffee shop!
I am watching this right after coming home from an exhausting shift at the café I work at and I still find this video so relaxing:)
Cheers!!
How much passion is in this video.
I love the opening shift the most. I mostly listen to pop punk music on my shifts, for reference I work in a coffee cart.
Ceramic is back here in Australia and so is the use of reusable cup!
I'm late but in the morning I like to listen to stuff that's more upbeat than most Winehouse. Not EDM kinda tempo or energy but just things that make you wanna bop. Most 80s music is like this, or recently I've been listening to a band called The Regrettes which are delicious
You are not alone!! The amount of times I have assumed stocking meant rotating product also...suffice to say many a wrong bag has been opened
I’ve been really enjoying Turnover “peripheral vision” at work.
Seeing this video makes me inspired to be a barista. I actually jsut came acroos on your video "How to use a french press at home" since I jsut got a new one and is new to making coffee this way, but I dk drink coffee on a daily basis and it got me wondering what other ways I can enjoy coffee.
This badly makes me want to be a barista soooo bad. Love your hair and outfit, too!💖 Keep insipiring people!💖
Awesome video! Love how fluffy and clump free the espresso grinder is dosing. The little things that make a world of difference 🤓
This was a very enjoyable video to watch. It seemed like as soon as it started it was over. That is the mark of a great video. Thanks, Morgan!
I used to work as barista when I was 15... in a café in a village. It was a miracle when 5 people came during the full day... i kinda miss it. Sadly the café had to be closed due to almost no cutomers, lol.
I’d like to work as a barista again when covid ends.
Every. Single. Video... is just so cozy and cute I love it
Just subscribed to your channel.
I work at a bakery that opens at 6am and my go to for the opening shifts (which is every shift for me) is anything Etta James!
I always saw you in TikTok only! Now I discovered your UA-cam and listened to your voice, I went OH GOD you have great hair, eyes and VOICE?????? 🥺🥺🥺🥺
I sometimes play My Analog Journal or Macroblank during my shifts. I also really love Jazz so Coltrane and Dizzy get a good play too
I recently applied to a few local coffee shops so hopefully I get a job at one of them 🤞🏻. If I do I'll have to rewatch all of your videos haha. Some of my current favorite music artist: harry styles, conan gray, umi, lana del rey, billie eilish, ariana grande, and billie joel! I'm not sure if you like to play orchestra music or not but a few of my favorite contemporary composers are henry jackman, john williams, and hans zimmer. Hope you and everyone reading this has a good day! :)
I just started watching your channel and I have to say I love it sm! Your voice is so soothing and your videos are always interesting! I had no idea that the whole espresso thing was sooo complicated and such a science! Anyways you’re amazing!
Your apron is pretty similar to the extremely well made Saint Anthony Industries aprons. Huge fan of those aprons- they are truly buy it for life level stuff. Little pricey but well made.
Hi, Morgan!
That's a neat little place.
RIght now, I'm sipping on a cold brew with half & half that I made; using the plain Starbucks concentrate. Viva coffee! ☕
Glad this video is giving Coava coffee the representation it deserves!
I love coffee im 62 . My kids bought me a delongi coffee espresso maker yrs ago. I'm retired I just bought the gaggia classic pro prestige and a ranchilio Rocky grinder. I'm having a blast. 8ve always loved a cappuccino after dinner. I'm trying to learn more.
7:10 Preach it sister. People who talk like that need to make a cup of earl gray then walk off a pier drinking it. I love America but we are the last developed nation were fully grown adults tell each other what to do, about coffee no less.
SUBSCRIBED, this was my first video.
I just put my notice in at my cafe and it's such a bittersweet thing.
People where really pressed on how you washed your hands? Geeez
Just keep doing you Morgan ♥️
I absolutely love the aesthetic of this cafe! really wish there was a place like this near me.
Love it, the aesthetic and atmosphere is just so calm and wholesome 🥰 I work in a tea store/café in Germany and me and some coleagues made custom playlists - mine is lots of folk, jazz, Beatles and a dash of indie (also some Amy Winehouse) :3
If i ever gone visit the States on of my things on the List to visit is this Coffee Shop. We have nothing like this over here, where i live in Germany and we have not so charming and wonderful baristas like Morgan.
I always love Wolf Alice’s radio or Misterwives radio on Spotify. Favs for sure!
