    Daniel, these look very close to the Corvinas we have here in Mazagon beach coasts, they ARE fantastic to eat for sure!
    My uncle has the all time record, an unbelievable 190kilos!! I have a poster of him standing with it while it hung by a steel cable at the entrance of the restaurant that took it off his hands!! The two ivory skull pieces where huge!!!

    Man, I have never seen these amounts of fish let alone sized like that over here in Europe. Better take care of that environment or you'll end up diving 65m to look for the needle in the haystack haha

      I don't have enough footage of snapper nor am I any sort of master at shooting them unfortunately. I have footage of 3 over 5kg but not much else of them. My dive mate Tim has around 52 getting shot on film last time we counted.

    Man I’ve been stuck just watching your videos. The commentating sounds very good and is really clear! You seem to be experienced but you do not seem too cocky about it and you seem like you are open to learn new things that’s really refreshing to see! The only constructive criticism That I would have would be that you could have some b roll footage in between, you have a little bit but a bit more would be really cool to see. Ofc this is my opinion and shouldn’t be taken to seriously. Keep the good work up!

    • @DanielMann
      @DanielMann  5 років тому

      Thanks WaZe, this is a video I produced in 2014 so the B roll is probably a bit lacking for sure. Look at my more recent stuff.
      I have been diving for about 14 years but every time I get in the water I learn something new and I have plenty of failures. A fact I am not afraid to share with the world to show I am human, like everyone else. So many spearfishing videos are like a fantasy because it is only success which in my experience couldn’t be further from the truth 😂

    hey mate how long do you lads hold your breath under water for? also do you semi decompress on the way back up?

    • @DanielMann
      @DanielMann  6 років тому

      Most dives are around 1:30 depending on what you’re chasing and how deep. Sometimes 30 seconds, sometimes 2:30.
      No decompression needed as its freediving and not breathing compressed air. You don’t get the bends unless in extreme conditions diving really deep continuously all day.

      I used to have a Rabitech enclosed one that was fantastic because other weight belts wouldn’t break it when dropped on top. They stopped making them unfortunately and I lose that weight belt. Now been using one from Aussie reels the past 5 years and no problems at all and works great.

    As a spearo I feel very, very uncomfortable with the quantity of fish taken in this video. Imagine if each viewer emulates. Take what you need, don't fill the ice box, or the fishery will end up totally barren like in many parts of the world.

    • @DanielMann
      @DanielMann  Рік тому +3

      Hi Lynton, this video was complied over three years worth of filming so not in one day at all. Rarely do we take more than one mulloway per person and in NSW you can only take one anyways. However this was filmed long before those bag limits. Between 2010 & 2014.

      true MM... prawn trawling brings in a lot of juvenile jewfish by-catch, I've heard. Responsible take is ok... nobody want to denude the oceans. Trawler by-catch is indiscriminate.

  • @slyarsenal
    @slyarsenal 5 років тому +5

    Spearfishing jewfish is sacrilege in the fishing community. As a landbased mulloway fisherman of 24yrs I believe these fish deserve more respect than just lazily shooting a spear gun. This method of fishing isn't sustainable nor does it require much skill, knowledge or practice. And yes I dive too so let's not even go there.

      Mate it must be hard sitting on your arse on the fucken rocks waiting for a fish to come past and bite your bait. Additionally, I fish as well as dive so don't even go there, also you shouldn't start you're sentences with "and".
      regards,
      Tom

    • @danielvodo1
      @danielvodo1 3 роки тому

      Lol lazily shooting. I struggle to get up to them enough to take a shot in most shallow spots in South Australia. It is much easier to hook one when you know where to find them. There have been days I've spent 6 hours stalking a school in 3m visibility and only being able to shoot one. While the boats around me have caught a good 5-10 fish. I doubt you have ever even had a chance at shooting a mulloway hence the saltiness
