Yep, we're all looking forward to the possibility of that happening with Sean saying there may be a new a shepherding puppy being added to the family in 2025. Exciting!
@@jammybilly Oh wow, that would be amazing. I wonder if it is Storm who will be bred or whether they will buy a pup from another liter? It would be kind of fun to see Storm pregnant. I haven't seen if she was pregnant in earlier videos. I only started watching about 3 months ago and haven't been very far into the back catalog.
@@deborahdoesscrapStorm is 6 and may be too old for another litter - dangerous for her. Maybe Echo is going to be a dad and the new pup is one of his. Hope so ❤
@Alison-ye3sv Thank you for the information. I didn't know that Collies shouldn't have liters after any particular age. I mean other dog breeds have puppies for many years and I know Storm is still coming into season as Sean had to keep Storm and Kate indoors to avoid Echo being a poppa. Anyway, I guess time will tell what is happening but watching a baby herding dog grow up would be fun.
This is outstanding, Sean. Storm stayed ready and kept looking at you all through your narrative just in case you had a job for her to do. Your dogs and your partnership with them is a lovely thing to witness.
Sheep: not sure we like this new morning exercise programme! 😂😂😂. Quite impressive display, really cool to see the whistle commands too. Thank you! Love how she runs and jumps into your arms and gives you a lick…clearly a happy dog who loves you ❤
❤ You're very good at explaining things so it's understandble. Kate, Storm and Echo is already trained, so it's going to be interesting to see you train a new puppy from the very beginning, if you do decide to have a puppy in the near future. Thank you for this video and I love the ending where Storm jump into your arms 🫶❤️✨️
It’s always a pleasure watching these brilliant dogs working, how much harder would your job be without Kate, Echo and Storm. My favourite is when they have a stand off with a stubborn sheep…the focus in the dog is incredible.
Border Collies are intelligent amazing dogs. I just found out last week that they have larger hearts than your average dog. They are built for the work they do. Much love from America. ❤
I discovered your videos a couple of years ago and am really enjoying them. They're fun, informative and uplifting. Your 4 dogs are so smart and living their best lives. Their energy is incredible. I'm a Scot living abroad and was in your area at Christmas. First time I'd been back in a very long time, and I realised how much I miss it. A beautiful part of the world. All the best to you all!
My gosh, Storm is so beautiful. She is just a wonderful dog. Thank you for the instruction. I had watched your other videos where you have shown the basics of commands but understanding your inter-relationship is fascinating. It is wonderful to see how much you respect your dogs and how much they love you.
That was interesting, thank you, Sean. it's always lovely to see any of the dogs at work, and how much they love their lives. And I also always enjoy these sheep!
Just brilliant! Would be amazing to see you train a pup to see how they go from knowing nothing to absolutely understanding both voice and whistle commands! Well done Sean&Storm….amazing talent!
Beautiful dogs. So well trained and they’re very loved and so well taken care of. They certainly are happy dogs doing what they love to do the most and that’s to run & herd!
Thank you so much for giving us a more in-depth video on herding commands. I've been curious about the whistle commands for quite a while now. Thoroughly enjoyed watching you and Storm work the sheep. You are definitely a great team!
I have always been interested in how you train them with whistle. Especially when they are far away. I wondered how they could hear far away with the wind blowing in some of your videos. You have used the whistle and voice commands. I have a gs mix. I do my best to be consistent with voice commands. I am still having trouble with recall. It is a constant with working with him. I guess as watching you with your dogs. I understand better. Takes time a patience. Thank you for sharing. I enjoy watching your videos.
You appear to have a great life in balance with your wonderful dogs and your shepherding! Think you for making your videos for us to watch because most of us would never even imagine a life such as yours! 👍
While your talking Storm face is pointed at sheep looking back n forth to you to get those sheep !!! Hes like HEY SEAN LETS GO GET THESE SHEEP !!!!!🐕🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑
SO wonderful to hear all this background info conveyed with outstanding clarity, Sean (as I've said before, you're a naturally gifted teacher as well as a shepherd) -- exciting to see sleek Storm demo exactly as you explain, too. Amazing how, during your intro, she was fully poised and ready for her first command. Great to observe this brilliant working duo presenting their skillful 'magic' in herding. Thanks for a great video.
I spent years as a nurse in a general hospital. Absolutely loved it. Someone once said, after a hard morning's work. This has to be a drug. And most of us were addicted. Ive also met folk happy in all sorts jobs. Mostly those that need skills. Even office work. Takes all sorts.
@helenamcginty4920 I loved my work as well (teacher). They say if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life. I feel we are the minority, though. For most people, it is a drudgery. Not for Storm!! She is such a happy working dog🥰
@julieburetz6938 I taught for over 30 years, and felt the same way. I had colleagues who resented every paper they had to grade or every moment they had to spend in the office. And that, when we were only required to be someplace four or 5 hours a day. It's never the same day twice
I once read the suggestion that the dog/human hunting team was possibly how wolves and people became close. Humans have height and as you explain a broader view while the dog is faster and naturally keen on cutting out one animal from the herd.
Love this video! I now think I know almost enough to begin training as a sheepdog. Unfortunately, I'm not fast enough to be a good sheepdog. With dogs so smart, I'm sure they have occasionally wondered why you gave them the rare dumb command. I love the end where Storm jumps up on you because she loves you.
It's like the sheep come to you for protection. lol Used to love the sheepdog trials back in my youth on tv [I'm 63]. Now I understand what the whistles were about! lol
I have read The Shepherd's Life books by Rebanks and he talks about the different breeds of sheep including historic ones. (I guess Beatres Potter raised champions!) Your brown sheep have made me curious about their breed and the purpose of their wool. Thanks for the information.
11:30 A ‘training’ session in a closed field is very different from a working session when you need to move sheep through gates or into pens: I think that’s when we really get to see the dogs ‘thinking on their feet’ and interpreting your commands 😊
New subscriber from New York City - love the escape to Scotland and congratulations on the happy outcome to your IFV chapter. I would respectfully urge you to reconsider crowdsourcing for you to buy a farm - that is an ethical way for people to be able to support you. Doubtless many many of your fans would be happy to kick in for you to buy a little piece of Scottish heaven. And if you're worried about people contributing who may not be able to afford it, you could probably put a limit on it. That could leap you 15 years into the future! All best.
Never gets old! Beautiful demonstration, thank you. Storm is gorgeous.
I think it would be a fascinating series for you to show how in the world you take a new (untrained) dog and teach the commands.
Yep, we're all looking forward to the possibility of that happening with Sean saying there may be a new a shepherding puppy being added to the family in 2025. Exciting!

Yes
You really did give a better understanding.
Beautiful to learn that it is a partnership with back and forth communication.
I sure hope that all shepherds are as responsible as you are. Both the dogs and sheep are lucky to have someone like you .
I love Sorm, Echo and Kate❤❤ So smart! You are a amazing trainer!!!!! Thank you for this.
Storm
Great lesson Sean on how sheepdogs work it's always fun to watch Storm working the sheep.
It’s always a pleasure watching these brilliant dogs working, how much harder would your job be without Kate, Echo and Storm. My favourite is when they have a stand off with a stubborn sheep…the focus in the dog is incredible.
I don’t understand how the dogs hear your voice from such a distance.
Border Collies are intelligent amazing dogs. I just found out last week that they have larger hearts than your average dog. They are built for the work they do. Much love from America. ❤
Also, their front leg joints are built a little different than other dogs to allow them to do the crouch that you see them do.
@heathergay5508 ❤️❤️❤️
I just love to see the dogs give "the eye" to the sheep in an effort to convey confidence over them.

Cheers Sean, I'm learning basic training from scratch and found this video
really good. Thank you 🙏

Thanks Sean- great to see them in action and learn some new details of your working relationship with Storm🥰
I love the black sheep 💕
Back to basics with Storm. Love it:)
Just brilliant! Would be amazing to see you train a pup to see how they go from knowing nothing to absolutely understanding both voice and whistle commands! Well done Sean&Storm….amazing talent!
Great new introduction. I liked seeing the new pics of you guys. Stacey looks smashing!!
Absolutely beautiful relationship of understanding.
Beautiful dogs. So well trained and they’re very loved and so well taken care of. They certainly are happy dogs doing what they love to do the most and that’s to run & herd!
You are a Fantastic teacher!! I liked your video very much! Scotland 🏴 is Beautiful 💙🤍!
This was a carefully thought out and presented video, Sean. Very informative. Thanks
It's absolutely brilliant. The sheep are saying " will ya make up your mind " 😊
Good job Storm! That was very interesting. I've enjoyed watching you and the dogs work but now I know better what you're doing out there.
🎉❄️🎂🎁🎈🩵💜💙💚💝

P.S.
Sean, out of the 8 sheep you and Storm were working with today, how many of the ewes are with lamb? I saw some pretty big preggy bellies😁

Love your dogs. They all do a good job. From your videos i learnt a lot about Border Collies and sheep. Lots of love to your baby. 😊
A true team effort built on trust, respect and love.
Beautiful work and wonderful explanation. I love seeing the partnership and bond between you and your dogs. Thanks so much.
Beautifully organized video, this must have been quite a bit of work but worth it. And nice new intro! (Not that the previous one isn't great too)
Loved this video! What a star Storm is! Thank you!
Sean is the best boss ever! Storm is just as enthusiastic kissing Dad as herding the sheep.
Thanks for the clear explanations and demos. Loved it!
Brilliant work Sean. A comprehensive and easy to understand explanation.
This was a wonderful program!

Happy birthday a tad early, Sean!
(So far, 28-32 were the best years of my life.) Enjoy!
Those sheep will sleep well tonight!
Best entertainment there is. Wonderful dogs.
Excellent explanation! Thank you Sean for helping me to better understand how the dogs work according to your direction. I enjoy your videos so much.

I'm fascinated by the natural instincts combined with the training create a beautiful and happy animal. "That'll do".
Fascinating!
Great explanation. Thanks so much. This helps me a lot!
Absolutely amazing. Just love watching. Thank you for sharing.
Fantastic video and always love watching you and Stormie.
Very informative video, thank you!
Brilliant. Storm is gorgeous,
This never ceases to amaze me. Incredible! How long does it take to properly train the dog?
It’s amazing to see the dog look or his ears move when you are describing the commands. I can’t even remember all these commands and whistles.
Wonderful job both of you!! Most enjoyable.
They(sheep) got a work out today!
It's like the sheep come to you for protection. lol
Used to love the sheepdog trials back in my youth on tv [I'm 63].
Now I understand what the whistles were about! lol
Great information. Thank you.
lovely herd of shetlands, i believe. thanks to your concise and clear explanation the demonstrations of each movement were easily visualized.
This is so clean and straight forward. Thank you.

Hebridean. He says no one really wants the wall anymore. I think he just keeps them for training purposes
Enjoyed the video as always. Love the dogs❤
Good demonstration!!Explained alot and well
Laughing at how Storm keeps giving you side-eye whilst you’re talking to camera: ears reacting to key command words, but knows you don’t mean it 😂😂😂
I still cannot believe that the dogs can hear you at that distance.
Storm has the stare down pat! She is awesome!
Fantastic! Great finish!!!
Thank you for the clear demonstration. Do you have a video where you talk about how you got into sheepherding?
he does, it's one of his older videos "The truth about Seanthesheepman"
Very impressive!
Totally great video! I love your new intro as well. Thanks much for explaining the commands.
Thankz 4 Tha Vidz. Cheerz from Tha Heart of Virginia
She is so clever ❤ and look at her beautiful shiny coat 😍
This was wonderful! A good explanation that answered all my questions. Thanks!
Thank you for the lesson in herding. 👍
Those sheep are so well trained, they come running straight towards Sean! 😂
Fantastic explanation, Sean!! Love your videos!

Cute sheeps and dog
The plural of "sheep" is "sheep".
Yea well sheeps sounds cuter
Very much appreciate the “basics” videos, 1-2 a year. When speaking at us, how does your dog know not to obey?
Will the dogs take commands from anyone other than you?
I think they are expected to be able to work with different people.
Thanks for sharing ❤❤❤
Good job, Sean!!!
Sean the Shepard - great children’s book title and content
Blessings Sean.🎉🎉🎉
Sean, I recommend the name Rookie for your new pup… when you get one. I like the short and long of it: Rook! And Rookie!
Happy New Year to you and your family Sean, enjoy your new baby and grab the odd sliver of rest❤
Awesome video!
How long does it take until the sheep respond to the command and the whistle? 😁
Good girl, Storm. She is beautiful. But so are the others !!! Nice video!
Great video
Where r u? I want to live there my father's ancestors from scottland. Time to get home
Really enjoyed the video.
